I miss Disney's original intro , not " the-shooting-star-over-hand-drawn-castle " intro , but the one I grew up with . this one had Disney movie clips that gathered together to form the iconic Disney castle and a narration saying stuff like "there will only be one Disney. " I'll never forget it and I'd like to hear it if you agree .

One thing I was confused about. When he said "Sleeping Beauty" got the biggest downgrade from Platinum to Diamond, what did he mean by that?
Thankfully, I got the Blu-Ray of Bambi, the Walt Disney Signature Collection edition and it does have that bonus feature.
I'm still waiting for the Black Cauldron Blueray edition.

I collect Disney videos and DVDs, many of which are very hard to find; early releases from the 1980s, obscure titles from the 1990s, and various others from the 2000s and 2010s. I've been collecting since 2011-ish with over 200 titles!
One issue I have with Disney's recent DVDs is how bare bones they are. I understand that DVD's don't have as much storage compacity as blu-rays, but Disney did find a way to get around that. Remember their platinum edition DVD releases? And how Disc 1 was for the movie and disc 2 was had a crap load of bonus features? Why doesn't Disney do that again? I mean yes Blu-Ray DVD combo packs are still a thing, but if someone doesn't have the money to spend on a blu-ray player, PS4, or XBOX One, but they want a lot of bonus features, why not just have a 2 disc standard DVD edition like they did with their platinum editions?
It's a simple marketing thing. Companies in general would make a bare dvd release and then put all the cool bonus features on blu-rays. Basically saying "Why the hell are you buying just the dvd? Blu-ray players are very common now. Buy a blu-ray".
True. But at times it still feels a bit unfair. There are indeed those who still can't afford blu-ray plays right now, or they just went digital.
On the bright side they do give you a digital code with the DVD so you can unlock the bonus features. but even that seems unfair.
It's worth mentioning though: a standard Blu-ray player nowadays only costs roughly as much as a recent videogame, whereas 4K Blu-ray players cost around $130-150
Unfortunately, it seems that a lot of DVD/Blu-Ray distributors and consumers don't care about special features and just want to watch the movie. To which I scoff at because that's just cheap and lazy. I believe that a DVD can have as much effort put in as the actual feature.
On the subject of video formats, do you think that discs would be replaced by something completely different? I think maybe SD cards or USB flash drives since for as small as they are, they hold much more than a Blu-Ray Disc. Of course, SD Cards comes in varying data sizes, and naturally the higher the data the cost, for example, $40 for a 64GB SD Card, but it's the same price for a flash drive twice the size (128 GB). Imagine if you could fit several movies on that thumb drive, or more episodes of a TV show. Because a DVD box set would have like 3-4 discs per volume/season, and SD cards could reduce that space.
That'll probably never happen, mostly because this video is about DVDs with a single movie, and not combo packs or compilations or seasons for TV shows, but still, I'd just like to bring out my thoughts.
I get the best Disney Blu-Rays from the Disney Movie Club and I'm a proud member of that club. :)

It's a shame films like a goofy movie, the duck tales movie and Kim possible so the drama don't have blu Ray releases
Okay I know this isn't a Blu-ray, but I highly recommend checking out the Atlantis DVD. It's honestly one of the most comprehensive and lovingly crafted Disney DVDs that I own. The artists who made this film were very VERY passionate about it and it shows in every piece of bonus content they packed into the disc!
There's a 2 1/2 hour "making of" segment where you get to see everything from early concepts of the film, to the way they brought in comic artist Mike Mignola to help them with the character and set designs, to how they crafted the story and characters, and the way they integrated CG models into the film (which was still a new concept at the time)! Plus there's cool interviews with the directors, the VAs, an expert who crafted the Atlantian language, and Mike Mignola himself! Plus there's a fantastic commentary, AND you can get a 360 degree look at the CG models for the Leviathan and the main submarine.
Seriously when I got the DVD I was not expecting that much cool content! Even tho Atlantis isn't necessarily Disney's best film, I think it's an underrated gem of animation and it's really cool to see how much passion went into it's creation. So... yeah, you should check it out sometime ^^
The making of segment is on the Blu-ray.
Thing is a lot of the content you described were on the 2 Disc Collectors Edition DVD, and not on the standard 1 disc edition.
They are going to be worth it in the end if you are MAJOR Disney or Animation Fan.
I would love to see a list of the top 10 Pixar shorts. My two favorites are Geri's game and Piper.
Blu-rays tend to be a lot more expensive (especially Disney ones) so I just stick to DvDs

AngelWorks Productions I found a 50 pack of BD disks for 50 bucks ($1 per Blu Ray).

buy them at best buy the day of release. they cost around 20 bucks on Tuesday then they spike when Sunday hits
I don't know where you are from, but it's been some years that Blu-rays were "a lot" more expensive than DVDs. I switched to Blu-ray 6 years ago, mainly because they already back then were barely more expensive than DVDs. And today it's usually 1-3€ difference, not more. And Blu-rays are much better quality and often have more bonus material.
That EPCOT future world music in the intro. I caught it. I go to Disney World too much. I literally hum it every time I go to the park.
The Toy Story 3 Blu Ray was my jam.
I hope you do one on DVDs, and maybe a mini top 5 on VHS, because even some Disney VHS's have good bonus content.( Like the remastered Sleeping Beauty with 15 minutes of bonus content and a booklet).
The NIghtmare Before Christmas CE was the first Blu-Ray I ever bought!

I found the Fantasia Blu-rays a bit disappointing. Barely any bonus features.
In June is the Walt Disney Signature Collection release of Bambi. Well I will be buying it hope to see a Signature Edition release of Fantasia because I hate how I can't access the BD-Live Bonus Features. Also I have seen the short John Henry part of the Disney release "American Legends".
I wish I had as big a collection as he does.
Too bad that some of the Blu-rays of older Pixar films recently got re-released on Blu-Ray but only include one Blu-ray disc and a digital download. Yet, they still charge just about the same price for them as the older 2-3 disk collections were priced before being replaced. Also, on the re-releases of older Pixar movies they stopped bundling DVD copies of the movies with the Blu-ray.
My guess is that it was to cut costs.
What’s weird is that on Disney movie club both versions are on their shop and they both cost the same price.
I've only just recently started collecting them (they're the ones in the Signature Collection). I like the box art of them, despite the extra content not being as good, but at least some of the material can be found online.

P.s. I personally wouldn't have included Pixar movies, since I see them as a seperate studio despite having their movies being distributed by them. Each to their own, tho! This is a great, informative list. Bravo!

If it weren't just Blu-Rays, then I would have to vouch for the Lilo & Stitch: 2-Disc "Big Wave" edition. The first disc has most of the stuff from the original release with a few little featurettes scattered in there, but the 2nd disc has an entire nearly-2-hour-long documentary providing a detailed and in-depth insight on the film's production, as well as footnotes for the featurette and a bunch of deleted scenes. It's a great release, definitely beats the heck out of the "2-movie collection" Blu-Ray that Disney recently released :/
Also, the exclusion of Beauty's original features from the actual disc is annoying, but in all fairness you do have to keep in mind that disc space is a thing

What are your thoughts on the Signature Collection of Disney movies? So far: Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Pinocchio and Bambi have been released. (Bambi comes out June 6th.)

even though I have my blu-ray collection outshining my DVDs and VHSs I would keep my old DVDs and VHSs as souvenirs.
Yeah, Disney released some great Blu-ray editions of their movies, especially their classic movies. It's a pity they don't put as much effort on their new releases. For example, Frozen, one of the highest grossing movie in their library has a crappy release. Same goes for Cinderella, the Diamond Edition. And that is a real shame, because the movies themselves are masterpieces.
I've got a good question, Do both the Blu Rays of Toy Story 1 & 2 have the same features as they're 10th Anniversery 2-Disc DVDs? Because I grew up with those versions and it ment alot to me throughout the years no matter how many copies I replaced

This is why I hate how my family watches movies off of our firestick. First of all, most of the time the video quality is as if it was filmed on a potato. Second of all, digital movies don't have behind the scenes options. So what if I'm the weird 12 year old who watches shows like Brain Games or documentaries like Animation Lookback, I WANT MY BONUS FEATURES.

I'm broke, so occasionally I'll buy the Blu-Ray, depending on how much I liked the movie. I prefer watching my Disney movies on tape when I can, nothing better than seeing those old ads where the show the rough animation for their next project.
Given how fantastic The Lion King is, I knew its bluRay would be top 10 worthy. But I never expected so many Disney classics to have glorious bluRays considering many were made decades before the technology! Does Disney even care about the Black Cauldron? I personally do.

My zootopia (zootropolis where I'm from) bluray didn't work, so I bought another one and it also didn't work. I'm guessing it was a bad batch but I don't really want to buy it again.

I own none of the Pixar films on Blueray. The only Blueray Disney films I have are Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition, Zootopia, Live-action Cinderella, and one more that I can't remember at the moment.

Yeah, but they damage more easily than other studios' discs.
And the DVDs have dissipated from having all features since after the platinum editions. Why does The Incredibles have more to offer than Monsters University (just on disc one)? That goes to all studios. Also, why does The Force Awakens have no commentary on DVD?

Miss-Jazz-DaFunk In terms of the picture quality of the two films, it's one of the best. But in terms of the bonus features, it's very lacking, especially when compared to the fantasia legacy DVD. They could've went back and remastered all of those features in hd, they could've dug up the Irwin Kostal cut of the movie, they could've talked about fantasia 2006, but they didn't. I'm hoping they fix this with the signature edition release.
