I love how brainiac doesn’t just take over his mind. He first uses Clark’s own memories to feed doubt into his head before changing his memories to weaken him further and once Clark is broken, that’s when he takes over.

Clark's internal struggle shouldn't be dealt with a bad guy going in, because he should be strong enough from having dealt with things on earth before interacting with Brainiac. It all felt forced and not "genius" level thoughts, let alone a machine that is petty for the worst reasons. I genuinely couldn't stand Brainiac's catchphrase being, "Oh?!"

On the "immigrant allegory" thing: I think Clark's experience most closely resembles that of an international adoptee. Raised in one culture, by parents of that culture, but aware of a connection to a foreign culture.
Depending on the circumstances, an international adoptee might have some knowledge of their birth parents, a birth name different from the one their adopted parents call them, and even memories of their birth country.

Season 2 was such a big step up from Season 1 even though I was a big fan of Season 1. I especially LOVED what this show did with Kara/Supergirl, as this is my favourite take on Supergirl yet, and I love how they handled her character arc. I really like the overall theme about longing for a place in the world and Clark going through his own inner struggles of whether he truly belongs on Earth as an alien with growing xenophobia and whether he has a right to be on Earth when he feels like he only makes other peoples life's worst as Superman, especially Lois and Jimmy. It's a great narrative that shows how relatable and emotionally rich the character can be when you get people who understand him to write him like a three-dimensional person who has relatable problems despite what he can do. Jack Quaid as a whole truly blew me away with his depiction of Clark Kent and Superman as this honestly might be my favourite animated take on Superman/one of the best depictions of Superman in general.
Further, Clark's arc this season is well juxtaposed by Kara's excellent character arc of having her whole life under the manipulation of Brainiac and thus never shown true love or genuine familial affection and only teaching herself to believe Brainiac loved her as any father would, but slowly realises how much she's been lied to and that alone break her, and its only with love from Clark, Jimmy and Lois does she see that she has a choice of what she wants her place in this world to be and finds her own individuality and balance in this world. Brainiac in this show is also a great villain, and Micheal Emerson gives a fantastic performance in the role as this more robotic, sadistic, dark take on him. He truly feels like a menacing threat, and his personal connection with Clark and Kara makes him all the more of a despicable villain and definitely the best villain in the show so far. Plus his design, voice and actions are giving major Frieza vibes.
Cant wait for Season 3 and the confirmation of Lex Luthor (officially bald) to be the main villain and other characters like Superboy and Cyborg Superman to appear.

It did alot of things TOGETHER so well. Representing so many story arcs we've had before, while being original and not just a Tryte retelling. Sure, Braniacs destroyed Krypton before. But never because he was a part of its entire infrastructure. For a reason so oddly believable and selfish as "Not wanting to be shut off". They made him the cause for an entirely new reason that works so entirely well. Kara ends up with the same treatment. This is hardly the first time we've had Evil Kara, but the two biggest stories to do it were because of Apocalypse and Red Lantern Kara. Turning her int Braniacs puppet for the "Purity" of Krypton also served to push the entire idea of Natuire V Nurture this whole season been going for.
Similarly, Season 1 showed an odd sort of....Legacy respect? For DC as a whole that i've now just lost for Harley Quinn 2019. IN THE SAME WEEK. Harley had Starro as just a waiter in a posh hotel. Not scheming or being a concern. He felt more like some checklist "They'll love seeing this" sorta obligatory thing. The same weeks episode of Superman had Jimmy hear a rumor about a weird starfish in Germany. Season 2 REALLY continued that and gave us hints at a greater DCAU without throwing it in our faces. Those droids Braniac threw at Clark in the Simulator? A Thanagarian and a Green Lantern! And then Dr. Stone showing up in this season as well?!
If we got a genuine revival of the DCAU as connected cartoons after the Crisis is over, it would be perfect.

I was struck this season by how Waller's and Luthor's hate both come from a place of fear but how they deal with that fear is completely different. Waller has no doubts about what she's doing or why, even if it's become so twisted by fear she's a danger to the very people she's convinced she's protecting. When confronted by the very real threat of Brainiac's invasion all the potential threats resolve into actual ones so she acts, even if armed with only a handgun, because she has the assurance of purpose.
Lex on the other hand isn't sure of what he's afraid of so he invents reasons to be afraid and convinces others to share those fears not because he's right, but because once it becomes the majority position he can't be wrong. It's an empty fear though, a wall thrown up to shield a fragile ego, and only has strength when opposed but not actually tested. Once the invasion begins and Lex is confronted by actual stakes, he cowards out and runs.

As a second gen immigrant myself, I felt this. Particularly as a child I felt so pulled between the expectations of the culture I lived in and the culture I came from.
As you say, you eventually make some sort of choice. Maybe you choose to completely go back to the culture of your parents. Maybe you decide to completely define yourself by the culture you live in.
But most often, you can't really do that. You have connections to both, and you can rarely completely sever those. So you find a balance, become someone who exists in and is defined by both worlds.
And the really interesting thing is that for each person the balance is different. You might be more part of one than another, and maybe you retain different aspects of your cultures than someone else. My siblings and I have found our own balance, and each of our's is unique.
I wonder if that's something they'll show next season: Kara and Clarke each finding their own distinct balance.

My Adventures with Superman is a great Superman series, and season 2 was great. It starts with some closure for plot lines not fully finished from season 1, such as Clark finally learning the truth about how Jor-El sent him to Earth to survive the destruction of Krypton, and even learning about what happened to Sam Lane after he spared Superman at the end of season 1. I would say that season 1 was about Clark discovering who he is, while season 2 was about him finding his place. This all starts when Clark learned that while the kryptonians were dead, he wasn't sent to Earth with the intent of him being alone. Clark learned about his cousin Kara, who is apparently the same age as Clark in this continuity. This idea that he isn't alone drives Clark to try and find his cousin to fulfill a sense of belonging. When Clark gains possession of the kryptonian beacon that might help him find Kara, he does try to talk to Lois about it, since they are a couple now, but they are having communication problems due to Lois' unresolved issues with her father, Sam. It also doesn't help that Lex's rise to power, his ability to manipulate people to his side, and his work with Amanda Waller is causing some people to turn against Superman. Clark is at a low point in his loneliness, and his support system of Jimmy and Lois weren't there for him. Lois due to her issues with her father, and Jimmy due to feeling shame in his role in Lex's campaign against Superman. So, Clark uses the beacon to contact Kara, which brought her to Earth. Despite being raised by Brainiac to be his weapon, Kara also wanted had the same feeling of belonging that Clark had. When she learned about her cousin, she goes to find him on her own, even though Brainiac's command was for them to both go to Earth. Kara does see some of the good of Earth and makes a connection with Jimmy, but there are some things about Earth that annoy her as shown when she's at the most eligible bachelor event. This does lead to Clark and Kara meeting each other, but due to circumstances and timing, the meeting doesn't end well. Kara recognized her cousin due to him wearing his kryptonian suit as Superman, but since Kara was in civilian clothes, Clark wouldn't realize it was her. Not to mention that Clark was preoccupied with Lois, so he politely brushed Kara off, which clearly hurt and angered Kara. By the time Clark realized who Kara is, she's already disappointed in him. Due to Brainiac's orders, the two cousins fight, and Superman gets kidnapped. Despite the bad first meeting, Clark and Kara quickly form a strong familial bond in a short time. They fill the void of loneliness that they've been feeling lately, and it even plays a role in Kara turning against Brainiac, fighting to save the Earth as Supergirl, and finding a new home on Earth with her cousin Clark, along with his friends and family. I like all the character growth that Lois and Jimmy go through this season, but I personally love the relationship between Clark and Kara this season.

I miss when the standard length of a season of tv was 20 episodes per season, because this was great but it would have been practically perfect if it had more time.
    - The last two episodes should have by all accounts been 4 episodes considering all that was squeezed in and how much we could have explored.
    - I could have used a whole episode just dedicated to Luthor’s rise to having his own corporation. We got glimpses of his rise but I feel like we’re missing big chunks.
    - The way the final episode handled Sam and Amanda felt way too rushed considering the impact they’ve had over the show so far. A lot more needed to be done to have Sam at the BBQ and that be narratively satisfying.
-and I don’t know who else feels this way, but I miss when shows like this had filler episodes where we just hung out with the characters in fun low stakes situations. We used to complain about those but I want them back.
I am begging studio Mir, if not 20 episodes, at least 15 per season.

I think a note worthy thing to add is that Superman's creators are writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, both children of Jewish immigrants. To add further context, despite the racial discrimination the Jewish community received in Europe, Jewish immigrants were largely treated well by most Americans as long as they made an effort to integrate into their local communities and local customs.
TLDR-Superman was largely influenced by the life experience of his creators who 2nd generation Jewish American Immigrants.

As a first generation immigrant, I couldn't relate that much with your thesis; makes sense though, first and second gen immigrants are very far culturally, but it makes me sad nonetheless, it makes me feel unseen.
One thing I liked about the whole immigrant allegory is the leitmotif of "earth is for eartlings"; it's so impactful because it feels so familiar. We live on an era in which hatred has political slogans, and the fact that someone might consider me a pest to be disposed of just because of where I came from is something that keeps me at night.
Although, just like superman, we need to have hope. It's my responsibility as someone who has seen the best on humanity to keep on helping no matter what. The Hispanic community is best when we help each other, when cultures blend and we treat each other like siblings; I want to share that experience with anyone who needs help, no matter how different they are we are stronger together

I haven't seen a single Amanda Waller depiction that was on par, let alone better, than JLU's Amanda Waller. When given the chance to destroy Superman by blasting a volcanic island with a Kryptonite-lined nuke, she orders the general to stand down. When given the chance to eviscerate the League's reputation, she decides to stand down and work together with them to stop Luthor. THAT is Amanda Waller to me - she isn't an extremist. She's a realist and she works with an open mind. That Waller had STRONG principles - which is why she got along famously (albeit tensely) with Batman.

I think another interesting way they used the theme of him being a 2nd gen immigrant is also reflected in how he is portrayed in Brainiac's altered memory world. He still has the kindness and sentimental values he got from Earth, despite Brainiac's influence and the fake memories of his parents berating him for it. He still felt a little alone and odd in that fake Kryptonian culture.
This show is so good. One of my favorite adaptations of Superman of all time. And my now all time favorite adaptation of Kara, I've never really cared for her outside of the Woman of Tomorrow run. I love how they keep Jimmy's wild life as a gag like his silly comics. Like becoming a billionaire, rizzing up Kara, etc. This is my favorite Lois. Brainiac was super cool and felt very AM from I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream coded. Interesting spin on villains. Although I really don't like tech bro Lex Luther, still doesn't work. Hope we get another season and he evolves into actual Lex.

This version of him is not only really interesting but had lots of things going on throughout the entire season just waiting to be explored further and they weren't. The joke earlier on about his net worth was pretty funny but it strung when he ended up basically being reduced to a plot device because of it.
