  • Here's a recipe on how I cook Lentil Curry - which is called Dahl in Bengali. This is a super healthy vegetarian meal, that has many benefits: lowers cholesterol, high in fiber, helps digestive health, heart health and weight loss.

It looks delicious. We all make mistakes so it was nice to include the spill. The toasted garlic addition looked so good. I bet your kids love your dal.

It's called 'Barghar' and you can also throw in some chopped chillies along with the garlic. Another tip is to cover the lentil pot with a lid straight after throwing in the Barghar as it seals and traps in the aroma. Take the lid off a few minutes later and enjoy. Also, I highly recommend using pure Ghee instead of Olive Oil or any seed oil as they all oxidise in high temperature cooking. Cheers

I didn’t see a single Birds Eye dry chilli in it. Without this there is no flavour.

Sister, Olive Oil oxidises in heat, so it's actually harmful using it in cooking. It's best used to drizzle on food or for very quick low heat cooking.
Best option is to use pure Ghee as it can take high heat and elevates the dish especially lentils. Seed oils such as Sunflower, Safflower, Canola etc are pure junk, and best avoided altogether.
I use nothing but pure Ghee for all my cooking albeit in small amounts.
Good video nonetheless, I'll be trying this. Cheers

I think you're wrong here. Olive oil isn't harmful to cook with at all..it's a myth. I do agree that the is preferable tho, if only for flavour🙂

Amazing videos!! A quick tip - at the beginning, add in a teaspoon of Bolst mild curry powder with the turmeric, this will elevate the taste of the daal. Trust me!
