Rico then immediately pulls out $5k more and offers a $10k total bet. *(Where Mitch would get to keep Rico’s original $5k and the additional $5k Rico pulled out after Mitch made the first shot.)* Once Mitch missed the 2nd shot, he now owes Rico $10k, Mitch has originally pulled out $5k so he owes an additional $5k. He asked Ace to borrow $10k because that would satisfy the $5k he owes Rico AND put his original $5k back in his pocket so he won’t be broke.

One thing I always watch this movie, not just for entertainment but for knowledge and wisdom. My favorite character was Ace. I can relate to him so much. Just stay fresh, get your money and stay low key with it. No need to brag about it and cause attention to yourself. And always think for the long run and keep a pistol for protection. Because cats will hate and hate hard. RIP to Rich Porter.

The foreshadowing in this scene is very similar to the dinner scene in Resivor Dogs. Rico showing greed, Mitch showing passion and Wood Harris eagle eyeing it all.
Mitch and Ace would have been okay without Rico. He didn't bring anything to the table accept unnecessary drama.

Don’t forget during this era you had a lot of guys like alpo but they were considered the hype guys who loved everything over the top, the drama, the lifestyle everything, you can tell he could be a hot head but I doubt they thought towards them, if anything they’d think he’d bring light on them by doing something for them which was unnecessary if anything not going against them

fun fact the real-life "rico" aka alpo did do something similar to the cake story told in this scene.. he was known to embarrass a lot of dudes by doing petty things and he would get away with it because people feared him. apparently, he wanted this guy's gf but she curved him so him being petty he shows up to the guys birthday party where his family and girl are celebrating. while they are singing him happy birthday alpo walks in and grabs the birthday cake and throws it in his face, no one did a single thing because they were terrified of alpo.
