John Anderson hasn't lost his voice with his age and sung it just like is he was in a studio on point cause back then them kinda hit songs most of the time was what some felt like or was actually going through a haze in the relationship especially when you hit it big..you now went from back yards..basesments and car garages and cracking open some cold ones with the buddies to now you and the band are shoved in a tour bus and already have a long work schedule ahead of ya and on the road a lot so a good relationship back then took her crossing her fingers and you as well for where ever you are or how far away you are at the time...theres been so many hits put out of nothing but a feeling or life itself and how it's treating them at that time..you get a guy that can sing good and at that time he is heartbroken and homesick to at the same time..unless he all of sudden gets writer's block he probably could fill up a couple of them thick notebook pads with songs some might be a hit and maybe not never know I'm sure them long hour tour bus rides give ya plenty of time to sleep or think about everything. In life
Love this song. Love him. I just wish he'd sing the last of the chorus like he did on the album. It's a perfect hook. I wonder who talked him out of it.
