      Heard it Live at daytona in it's beautiful Castrol Livery and my GOD was that thing aggressive. And with those side exit exhausts you could hear it almost everywhere around the track, and before most of the other cars on fly-bys. My favorite part was seeing it come out of turn 2. The vibrations that engine created along with that buzz just felt soothing despite being loud af. People used to ay that thing was not as loud as the porsches but geez were they wrong.

      lol no it doesn't. They ran while I was at Limerock and the only neat thing to hear was it farting off throttle to what I assume are keep the turbos from lagging once the driver is back on the throttle.

      Agreed I've heard it at Daytona for many years now. It's a "lazy" sounding engine, much like the corvettes do. That doesn't detract from it's performance. The Porsches seem to be the loudest and high pitched which makes them sound "most exciting" in my opinion.

      Probably due to the car having a true dual side exhaust. Neither bank's exhaust pulses are combined, so instead of hearing 6 cylinders, you're hearing two banks of 3. And since one bank of a V6 has a similar firing order to that of an inline 3, you hear that raspy three cylinder sound. I hope that makes some sort of sense.

    Great video bozzy! The ford looks so good at the front but Kinda looks like an angry birds pig from the rear! XD Hope the car keeps racing after this year as its a great competitor for both GTE and GTLM

      Sorry but this is the last year that Ford and Chip Ganassi will race the GT. After the BOP hacked the cars performance up every year I don't blame them for pulling out.

    The down shifts are orgasmic to me. The Ford GT is my dream super car I cant wait to own one. I want to take it to the track and play wit it on the streets, I also would love to take it on special occasions by myself or with my girl. I would love to have it in white with black maybe a 3rd color like "orange"but I'd also like to have it all exposed carbon fiber Is some of my ideas. I do love the red white and blue race GT's I'm not sure which style wing I love more but I'm not complaining about the 2017 production wing at all. The only thing I think can be changed is the arrow on the door how it's so sharp I might want to change that smooth but tbh it just makes it more aggressive like how it drives on the track so I'm learning to love it for what i is. But the Ford GT is nothing less of my favorite car , dream car. I fell in love wit the mustang as a kid and I fell in love wit the Ford GT as an adult. So I love ford I love the raptor as well it's my fav truck, dont even get me started lol. I love Ford so much I really would love to be apart of the company.

      T04STY im pretty sure. Also if you watch an onboard from 2004 for example, you will hear that the cars make a strange noise when accelerating, sounds like backfires but im pretty sure its tc for example.

      @@didntstickthe1v150 Yeah I know how traction control sounds, that's why I'm rather thinking it is antilag. In between the two parts of the chicane it also is pretty weird to get the TC to trigger. Usually you're only doing a slight throttle tab there which in no means activates the TC.

    I like the way she sounds when the traction control kicks in but surely I'm not the only one that wishes the anti-lag was loud and poppy with big *f l a m e s* right??
    Must be the quietest ALS in racing. All you really hear is spooling. No BANG. Why is that??

      I could be wrong, but I've done a little research, and I THINK I know how the ALS works in the Ford GT. Again, could be wrong, but this is my understanding of it. This is gonna be long. TL;DR at the end!
      The Ford GT's antilag system doesn't work how we usually expect it to work. Usually, in older anti lag systems, there would be extra fuel dumped into the exhaust, either by a fuel injector in the exhaust manifold, or by telling the engine's fuel injectors to dump extra fuel into the engine on decel so it would go out the exhaust. When the fuel contacts the extremely hot exhaust manifold (some can reach 1200F/648C!), It combusts, and the expanding gasses are forced through the turbine wheel of the turbocharger, thus keeping it spooled. This also produces the iconic pops and bangs that all us gearheads love. While it is awesome, it is not fuel efficient (Not good for an endurance car) and it is REALLY harsh on the turbo, reducing reliability (REALLY not good for an endurance car). That's why you only see it on race cars that don't need to last for long periods of time, where the engines are rebuilt regularly, and noise isn't a HUGE issue, and not on production cars, where they need to meet sound and economy regulations, and need to be pretty darn reliable too (Imagine having to go to the dealer every two months for a turbo replacement?)
      When Ford implemented anti-lag into the Ford GT, they used a completely different method. Instead of using expanding hot gasses, why not use the engine? After all, an engine is just a giant air compressor! So, on decel, the computer recognises that the car is decelerating, and goes into what I'll call "air compressor mode." In this mode, even when no throttle is being commanded by the driver, the computer still keeps the throttle blade slightly open. However, the computer shuts off ignition and fuel, so that nothing but air is flowing through the engine. This extra air is then put in the exhaust, where it flows through the turbine housings, spinning the turbine, and keeping it spooled. Antilag! We've now created antilag that is more fuel efficient, reliable, and quieter than fuel derived solutions. It's so effective, it IS used in production Ford GT's! There's only one drawback. No fuel to make the iconic pops and bangs. :(
      Bonus: Why didn't we think of this sooner? Because back then, the driver controlled the throttle through a cable or linkage that would yank it open and closed. Nowadays, the throttle pedal is electronic, and is nothing but a sensor that tells the computer how much throttle is being commanded. The throttle blade has a precise motor in it that is commanded by the computer. Because of this, we can do neat things, like the antilag system I just talked about.
      I hoped this helped!
      TL;DR: We turn the engine into an air compressor to spool the turbos instead of using combusted fuel in the exhaust manifold.

    One of the worst sounding GT cars, in my opinion. I was tired of it after a couple of hours when I went to WEC Spa 😀 such a strange frequency. I usually don't say this but I wouldn't mind that car to be less loud.

      It's just too loud, or, as I say, "it's just noise and no melody". But I pretty much like it, to be honest. When it's alone driving on track you really appreciate that sound, but to each his own... For example, last year I was able to experience my first DTM round. Hearing a car or two testing was nice but when the whole grid was on track those V8s were unbearable, for the same reason you mentioned XD

    I love the GT, but if it had a rumbling V8 sound like the C7.R or a screaming V10 sound like the Huracan, it would be ultimate favorite GT car. It doesn't sound bad, but its somewhat lackluster sounding compared to other cars in its class.

      I don't think they built this car to sound better than a V-8, they built it to prove they could win Lemans with a v-6 which they did until BOP took them out of contention. If you can't bet them employ BOP.

      Looks like they're selling customer cars - Ben Keating is lining up to buy one for Le Mans. So we might still see them in the AM category.

      That's nothing but a rumor. If anything, they would probably climb the ladder to DPi or LMP2 if they dropped the GT. Which they've spent a lot of money and time developing, so I doubt they would just drop it.
