I got into Fenton glass after becoming a thrift picker a few months ago, and buying collectibles to flip on Ebay for a profit. One day I was walking through my local Salvation Army store, and a cranberry color pitcher caught my eye immediately. My eyes just locked on it and couldn't let go. I didn't even know what Fenton was; but when I turned it over, I saw the name "Lynn Fenton 1996" signed underneath. I remembered other thrift pickers telling me that if I saw art glass with a name signed underneath that I should buy it. So, I did. I brought it home, and gazed through this glass pitcher over and over, as I held it up to the light. I was just mesmerized by its intrinsic beauty. I never ended up selling that thing.. It's just hard to let go. Now I have the eye for glass, and I find Fenton in the thrift stores from time to time. Now I have become a collector. What gives Fenton even more meaning is that my dad was born and grew up in West Virginia - so I feel like I have ties to it. Knowing that Fenton helped keep West Virginians employed seems to give it even more sentimental value to me. So saddened that Fenton is no more - but it just means Fenton glass will have even more value as time goes on. Another "Made in the USA" company now defunct. I feel like our government and our politicians have, yest again, buried our own MADE AT HOME pride. Shameful. Shameful.

This has NOTHING to do with government, the owner even says it. It is the LACK OF AMERICANS buying their products. He also states a FACT these are NOT necessities. It is always sad to see a company that has been around for over a century close.
But we do it to OURSELVES - you yourself state you knew nothing about Fenton until you bought it used, which would not have helped the company. You would of had to of bought it NEW.
This also shows the FLAW in mass production and why most companies make things disposable.
My point there is a plethora of reasons why this company closed and they have nothing to do with government.

Such skilled artisans and a hard job. Sad that so many in West Virginia will lose their jobs and a way of life

As a Fenton collector their is nothing like buying in person or ordering by phone from the Fenton gift shop to obtain this incredible art glass. Thank you for sharing this video.

I've collected a few Fenton pieces over the years, and it's a real shame that they closed the factory along with the tours, which I never got to visit. America has truly lost a unique company that created beautiful works of art and everyday items.

Heartbreaking! I never imagined this would happen. Why didn't the government do something to stop the loss of an American treasure? Oh, almost forgot...they were too busy throwing money into the Wall Street abyss.
