An staggering amount of quality here. You, sir, are a pleasure to listen to. Not only you pack the video with useful knowledge but you also present yourself in a sober way nothing like other obnoxiously loud meme-infused 'producers'. Kudos and never stop, my friend.
A nifty thing I figured out by using both this tutorial and the noise oscillator mod tutorial is that you can create custom LFOs for the noise mod. You can record the LFO/waveform using the technique you used in this video, and then use that LFO waveform in the noise oscillator and modulate parameters from the noise oscillator and use it as a separate LFO/envelope. I hope someone may find a use for this!
Once you have this set up, if you change the waveform in Serum to a sine wave then it's basically like your "Phase Mod anything with Serum" tutorial, where you could then take this technique even further!
I have been experimenting with this & found that making a wavetable with a straight line on the bottom then morphs to a straight line on the top & then modulating the wavetable works better but would not have thought of it without this video, Thanks Au5!
Cool! You can do the same process in Reaper with its parameter modulation system, one of the possible sources being the volume output of a track. Or you can also bind one VST parameter to any other VST parameter directly through the same system.
LOL what's up Alex was wondering the same thing - Plugin Credits Code & GUI: Didier Dambrin I think that guy might be a genius. Like every amazing Fruity Loops thing came from him oh and by the way he can code OpenGL visual shit too perfectly

Any chance of doing some advanced Sine Compression tutorials in your next masterclass, Austin? Frequent showed us how to get the basics down, but there's a huge difference between the basics and advanced Jade Cicada sine compression.
Awesome Idea! This is pretty easy to do in Bitwig. Instrument Rack - Instrument or Audio through. FX Grid - Serum. (with the wavetable x LFO trick shown here) // (volume reduction and gate in post) In the FX grid, set up an audio sidechain (snag serum's output) and route it to a Modulator Out. Connect the modulator out to a macro on the FX grid. Back inside the FX grid, run the audio straight through, input to output. Then you just put any instruments/ effects inside the FX grid container. Then you just use the macro. Changing the serum LFO will change the macro movement. You can do this multiple times inside the same master instrument rack, which is pretty cool. Maybe there's an easier way to do this, but it worked. If Au5 ever reads this, really enjoying the serum masterclass! That shit slaps.
@@ethanserjak321 yeah! But i have been doing what you said and i think it may be better since i can have more than 1 serum so i can modulate with different lfos!
I've just used your guide and applied it to Shaperbox 3 - Sending a DC signal through volume shaper. Massively underrated potential hacking plugins with CV. You can also create a better version of the Max4Live device Honey Mapper using a macro in Vital mapped to LFO phase, with the rate set to 'FREEZE' - can scrub through the lfo with the macro. (automating the Honey Mapper device doesn't render, but this alternative will) THANK YOU!!!!
awesome vid brother, but maybe process your voice with spiff on the high end to remove the lip smacking and watery sounds that are brought up with the multi band comp etc. just an idea, cheers for the content
Niice Idea! You can use LFOTool too, and will not need Midi Input(For Audio Tracks) and Adjust Mod Curves cause "Volume" in LFO Tool is just a Attenuator. You just need to use a DC Offset "Generator" before LFOTool (Bitwig has a native one, i dont know in ableton). Other advantage of LFOTool is the LFO Dedicated Interface with Resize. 🤪
Very inspiring, but why not mod anything with LFO tool? I did a rebuild of the M4L Shaper tool like this: Create and Effect Rack with 2 chains: Rename first chain to "LFO" and disable audio. Rename second to "Audio" On LFO chain insert Melda MOscillator, LFOTool and CV - In. Edit the MOscillator waveform and max it out and turn the Custom knob all the way up. Load one of the Trancegate presets in LFOTool and set Rate to 2 bars (just for testing). For CV-In set CV-From to current track and select "....| LFO | Post Fx". Set mode to "DC", polarity to "UNI" and range to "0.10V". Press play and CV-In displays same curves as LFOTool. Before saving minimise MOscillar and LFOTool and keep CV-In maximised in effect rack, now you can modulate anything with LFOTool...... Do you like the filtershaper in shaperbox but not the filters and curves, build your own: Create Effect rack - Autofilter , 2 instances of the created shaper above, map it and done.... Use Min value on CV In for offset. Do you want to use Gatekeeper? just remove MOscillator and replace LFOTool, set DC output in Gatekeeper to to UNI and set range of CV In to 10V. Have fun and go crazy.......
I see Au5's Ableton has spectrum visualizer in the down-left-hand corner, wave visualizer in the top-right-hand corner, and master volume on the full right. How can I get those ?
So, I'm really curious about that dB meter and the oscilloscope, is that fancy editing, or is your Ableton modded? if it's modded how do I implement those features?
I'm curious if this could also be done with LFO tool. I'm wondering this because Serum takes up a lot of screen space, so if possible, perhaps LFO tool could be a better option? Also, how did you figure this out and how long did it take you? This is sick (just got Ableton finally, so I can now use this).
Did you ever mess with Reason, and the ReWire function to Ableton? You can cross audio, sync clocks, and send control signals, and use the routing matrix in Reason's synths for lfo's and modulation. Your imagination is seriously the only limit.. lol Especially if you love modular synthesis and sound design.

nvm bro figured it out! If anyone is wondering how to do this just add a cv in to your audio track and rout it the in to the cv you made in the tutorial
A significantly less involved set up which I think uses a better UI is to use the live API functionality In Max for Live to take advantage of the entire automation structure in clips and map those to anything, which you can also do with envelope re-triggering on new MIDI notes. clip automation with loops and ability to dump in different little functions and skew them and drag around and tempo sinc them etc., everything you get with clip automation. you then dump that out multi map eight with the ability to set inversions and change the transfer function of the slopes. The reason I don't find myself doing it much though, which is the same issue here, is that live.remote.~ (which is The object that allows us to do audio rate remote mapping from Max for live) has a slew jitter of about 10 ms. It's flocking brutal. So if you need timing critical shit you're better off keeping your audio rate modulators within their own plug-ins. It's fine if it's max with in that same patch, but as soon as you start trying to modulate something external to that patch you run into this issue. you can even test this assumption natively using the now included in live 11 envelope and try and cut the attack off anything transient by mapping it to a gain. You'll notice sometimes the transient sneaks through because this method doesn't get there in time to lower the volume. I mean if this wasn't a problem I think we would already have amazing modulation audio rate matrices manipulating any parameters that we want at harmonic intervals generating custom spectra(of course most of these destinations would have to be custom max devices that don't interpolate the published parameter input with little ramps to smooth controllers). you could literally have one meta envelope generator sequence modulating multiple destinations on multiple tracks, invert the polarity between those things on the left and right channel etc. But since it all shifts around randomly and can't guarantee timing accurate enough to even prevent Flams in transient percussive hits more less anything phase synchronous so carrier and modulator are guaranteed to make comb filtering combinations and, well, it would just be awesome if they figure this out since they bought cycling 74 like what five years ago now?
Have you tried achieving the same result using the "envelope follower" max4live device instead of the CV IN ? That would be the equivalent of @Kallyn suggestion on how to implement this in FL Studio
