      Thanks Cindy it really is easy. I Tried to break it down the way I would teaching a big painting. Watercolor isn't hard as long as you remember where ever there is water the paint will follow.

    Absolutely stunning! I have the Heartfelt Creations poinsettia stamps and dies that I'm using for my Christmas cards this year. I plan to paint the poinsettias and would love to use your poinsettia as an example to go by. I know there's no way mine will turn out nearly as good as yours, but I'm going to try! Rick, just came across this fabulous watercolor poinsettia that you made a few years ago. Wow! This is a gorgeous card!! Have you ever thought of showing some of your beautiful creations to Stampin’Up? Maybe they would ask you to design a stamp set. You certainly have the talent to do so. If they do not take you up on this, I suggest that you begin your own designs and sell them. Don’t waste your talent. If I had not come across this video, I may have never seen what you could do.

    Rick, I loved your card! I am very late to the party, but if it still matters, I too really love hearing and watching you at normal speeds rather than thru music or fast speeds. I figure those who need speed can fast forward easily themselves. I like to hear the names of the paint colors as you use them and I like to see the paint strokes. Silence also does not bother me. People who need music in the background can easily put some on in their own space.

    Beautiful! I didn't know you could emboss over regular stamping pad ink! I thought you had to use embossing ink pad so that is great news for me. I love learning something new from different artists without copywriting. I have both and I have many different colors of embossing powders also. You definitely got my mojo inspired as poinsettias are my favorite to create on my cards! Thank you for a great video💓

    • @RickAdkins
      @RickAdkins  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shirlee Brindle thanks it's all about dry time and the paper. If it's to dry you get the hard lines that don't blend. It's just a matter of putting everything down at just the right time.

    This the best poinsettia water color tutorial I have watched...great”sentiment”.
    Though the choice of music was very good it could have been toned down a tad.
    Love the painting. I’ll try but probably won’t get it right.

    Learned so much watching you!! Beautiful.
    Could you please tell me what made you choose yellow as a surrounding colour? It looks great but I would never think to do that... Thanks again so much

    • @RickAdkins
      @RickAdkins  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kate Lock thanks I went with yellow because I wanted to keep the card with a very warm feel. And based on color theory I knew that by using colors on the same side would create a great warm feel then by throwing in the green (which is the complementary color of red) would balance everything

    • @katietulip
      @katietulip 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    What kind of board is your card taped to?

    • @RickAdkins
      @RickAdkins  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicole Faulkner it's taped to the back of a masonite panel / hard painting board

    • @erins.5420
      @erins.5420 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicole Faulkner and Rick sometimes Masonite can lift if it gets wet and can come up with the tape if it's not low tack tape, I prefer a smooth plywood about 1/2" or so thick so it gives me a few more options as far as working on a painting like rick did here....stunning Rick!!....or wet into wet that warrants a lot of water and I don't like to worry about lifting and bubbles from the Masonite that happened in the past.

    I really enjoyed watching you paint but I was having a really hard time enjoying the video as a whole because of how loud the music was compared to your video. Try messing with the balance so the music is more background, not the focal point. there were times you were talkong and giving instruction and I could not hear you. Beautifully done painting though!

    • @RickAdkins
      @RickAdkins  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It just takes practice. I have been doing them for ten years. That was when it clicked. I had tried them before then and never could get them to work the way I wanted them too. I read and reread any books I could find on the subject, but never could get the hang of it. One day it just clicked and have never looked back.
