    just got back from same campsite, and did the climb! Was nice place - pub next door not too bad! If you go through the fields at the back, you can swim in the Ribble!

    We recently completed our first decent run in the T6.1 (Gandhi)... I called it the WC700 (respect to the Scottish NC500) and no, it was not, as my friend suggested, a visit to 700 public toilets, but a coastline-hugging tour of Wales. From our house in Staffordshire to Gloucester then hug the coast all the way to Connahs Quay in North Wales, to Chester and then south to head home. Simple rules, no motorway travel allowed, single carriageway takes preference to dual carriageway and B road takes preference to A roads.
    725 miles drive in total, average 35mpg, average 28mph over 6 days driving. Had some great campsites, some hookup some wild camping, and totally enjoyed it.
    Look up Llyn Cwm Bychan near Llanbedr... single track (barely room for the campervan in places) and a dead end. It ends at the lakeside and is one of the most beautiful places to spend a night. Absolutely no passing lorries or any other vehicles, just a few noisy sheep.
    You have to be confident with reversing. We met three campervans coming towards us when we left. I had to reverse nearly half a mile to return to a passing place. Thirteen miles of road at an average 5mph.
    Loved every inch. Try the WC700, see what you think.
    Oh, and we also found a great site near Devil's Bridge because there was nowhere to stay in Aberystwyth. The site even had llamas!
    Happy travels to you from South Staffordshire!

    Nice video, and thank you for introducing me to a new site. On Bank Holiday Monday I made it to Whitby Holiday park at Saltwick Bay - that is worth your efforts if you find the time.
    I will look forward to your next adventure.
    I have my Dubbed Out Community sticker on the van too -added last week.

    There is also another campervan section in a different field, I think the owner uses it as an over flow. You can see it on your video there is a caravan there. It's set back a bit from the road and more space.... although no hookups

    There’s another campsite at the otherside of the valley. Graghill Farm. It’s down the lane from the station. No EHU, but nice and quite except the occasional trains on the Settle to Carlisle line.

    Colin mate, where did you get your thermal wrap for your pop top?

  • @jonsalisbury
    @jonsalisbury 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good to see you trying the roof cover the other way around to reflect the sun... How did you find it? I like the principle and have been wondering about it myself but I worry it will still keep the heat in too much... I'm currently sweating it at 40degrees in France and have motivation to come up with a solution!

    • @Yorkshirepoptopadventures
      @Yorkshirepoptopadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It sort of works but recently we've been leaving it off as the vents in the pop top are blocked when the wrap is on... It's much cooler with the vents than the wrap but I think that's more down to the fact that we also have a black roof too

    Hello there, I am getting a full conversion on a new fiat talento
    Lwb done. My wife being older than yours is a bit bigger than yours and therefore we need more bed width. Is your bed a 112 cm wide one, how do you cope currently with that bed width and would you have gone for a 120 cm wide bed now you have experience of the 112 cm if you have one. My van internal width is 1660 and if I go for a 120 cm bed would leave me with 46 cm wide cupboards ? Although this would give me less storage in the cupboards, it would give me 8 cm more storage width under the rib bed. The counter top etc may have to jut out more behind the driver's seat with a gentle curve to it beyond the bed length to get the fridge in. What are your thoughts from your experience on my dilemma ?

    • @CaliLeaks
      @CaliLeaks 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe you are over thinking it. 112cm is not very wide for 2 people. California lower bed is about the same. 120 is a much more comfortable width. There is still plenty of space for units, but the key is to not take too much unnecessary stuff and as it’s LWB you will have extra space anyway. Also would recommend a top loading fridge in the worktop. You can get way more inside :)

    • @stevezodiac491
      @stevezodiac491 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CaliLeaks yes we have managed to find a rib altair bed with slider at 120cm width for our van. We have a 4 foot bed loose in the back of the van now pre conversion and 120 cm is hardly any different and we get a good night's sleep on that. The trouble is it will not be here until October but the pop top will not be here until 1st Nov so no extra problem. It seems like the whole world has gone camper van mad and getting hold of stuff is difficult but it will be done for next year, can't wait. Expensive but happy.

    • @CaliLeaks
      @CaliLeaks 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve Zodiac sounds like a good solution except for the wait, but then again try ordering a new VW California and prepare for a much longer lead time!! Our Beech feels positively luxurious with its king size bed, but then we don’t have a kitchen. We previously hired an Ocean. I checked and the width is 114cm. That extra 6cm makes a lot of difference in real life as it seemed quite cramped.
