The funnest car there is. Brings smiles to it's passengers and onlookers. People smile and give thumbs up everywhere you go. It is easy to maintain, seats 5 people plus cargo. It goes off road, you can park right on the beach. Top down, doors off is my preference. Fold the windshield down for maximum exhilaration. Absolutely perfect summer, beach, resort car. Oh yeah, if you have kids they will love you for buying this "Thing".
This Thing has been restored from ground up.
EXTERIOR: The body is in excellent condition, no rust or damage. Completely repainted a beautiful aqua green color. The paint is very glossy, I don't see any significant flaws anywhere. New welting between the fenders and body. The door handles, mirrors, gas cap, light bezels all look new. It does have aftermarket Hella fog lamps. Upgraded chrome 15 inch wheels with trim rings and color matched center caps. Newer Firestone tires. In back it has custom stainless exhaust tips coming through the bumper. The convertible top is in very good shape, no tears. It has all the side curtains and they've been upgraded with sliding windows from the Thing Shop. The weather strips look like they're replaced.
Windows are easily removed, the doors lift right off, windshield folds down.
INTERIOR: The entire inside of the car has been prepped and painted the body color. The seats have been reupholstered front and back. The back seats fold down flat for plenty of storage. The steering wheel is an upgraded leather wrapped with chrome spokes. It has an aftermarket console a Duckboards (wooden floor slats). There is a mini tachometer in the dash. It has a custom stereo system with with 6x9 speakers in the kick panels, subwoofers and 4x6 speakers in back. All the knobs, bits and pieces look good. Has seatbelts front and back.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: We're told the motor was just rebuilt during the restoration. It does run really well. The carburetor looks new. All the components look good.

Very nice Thing you have there. I had a white 73 Thing. You can't imagine the attention you get driving one. They're a hoot. The heater on a 73 is up front where you mentioned. It runs off gas from the gas tank and normally heat the car very well. In 1974 the went to the exhaust heat exchange style. The wiper fluid tank is supposed to be pressurized by a hose hooked up to the spare tire. Thanks for posting a video of yours.

This might be the most beautiful Thing I've ever seen. It's almost too good compared to how I remember these oddities.

You should put the price up front, it’s annoying to have to go look it up.

Jay. You know you don't want to sell it ! So stop kidding yourself and take it home ! Personally l can't think of any reason why anyone would want one . As they say ...."one mans meat ! " ( your daughter will love you for ever! or at least until you sell it !) 😂😂 Crikey! Just seen the price. The're obviously very collectable ! Thanks Jay.

drove this in original military version in german army. Great fun.! The exhaust pipes in this version are bullshit! The slightest touch from behind will ruin your exhaust! And I hate the big taillights in these civil versions!

      HORRAY!
My opinion, too. Those elephant foots ruin the back. And those "plastic bows" for the opened roof are missing, too.
Lot of work, but way overdone.
