Hi! That would depend on what you're using the sling for and the patient's functional ability/needs. Wearing an arm sling can help prevent subluxation if that's the intended use for it. A sling could potentially prevent a patient's injured or already subluxed arm/shoulder from further injury during transfers as well. If their arm/shoulder is not injured but just weak (let's say from a stroke), then it's good to position their arm to weight bear during transitions to help strengthen and use their weak arm more.
