Ormand’s enchanting take and charmingly wry delivery are as engaging as any Sargent work. I hated for this lecture to end.

Wonderful lecture. For everyone who enjoyed this half-a-lecture, a full 101 minutes version was done on the Frisk Collection under the title, Richard Osmond: Sargent’s Lady Agnew of Locknaw. He was thoroughly as entertaining there as he was here. Found on TH-cam .Enjoy. You can thank me later.

I watched this video hoping to learn which exact types of pencils and charcoals John Singer Sargent used, however, your talk turned out to be so interesting and charming in itself. It was so much fun! Your use of French terms, your explanations, details, and stories painted such interesting pictures in their own right. Thank you because you helped me and you gave me inspiration in many ways! It makes me sad to think that some might think that your discussion might be too intellectual of a subject. It is difficult to find such subtle stories that might help guide your life. I'm so sorry for you and for us, your audience, that you were rushed! You are a wonderful person to emulate. Again, thank you.

The value of sketching is to camouflage the boredom otherwise becoming visible during the time spent sketching. Also, you may keep up any conversation or listen to someone reading aloud the newspaper or a book of fiction, perhaps. I am sure Mrs Sargent knew how to "tick away the moments that made up a dull day". Maybe she even "frittered and wasted the hours in an offhand way."

I love this lecture! I had CC on and since he used a lot of french words it didn't come up well. Could you fix the names and the french words please? At once point ecole des baux arts became "Holiday Bazar"

A decent enough painter certainly, but arguably overrated and very very bourgeois.
An interesting and edifying hour or so nonetheless.
