  • I decided to use this Dead Flat Farrow and Ball Emulsion for a hall/ stairs and landing and I wanted something that was a matt finish but can stand alot of traffic.
The wall had MDF panels put on so this was ideal as it's for ceilings/ walls/ woodwork and radiators.
with the trend being everything in the one colour this is a must as its scrubbable and has a lovely matt finish so it saves you on buying the Estate Eggshell for the woodwork.
It's about £120 for a 5 litre so not the cheapest but will last a long time.

Hi Daniel, I used it a couple of weeks ago after recommending it to my customer. Unfortunately they had me paint the whole room in the inchyra blue modern emulsion before realising it's the wrong sheen level for a lounge really so I went over it again in the dead flat - including the woodwork!
Great stuff to work with really. People are right, Estate emulsion is a nightmare for marking etc but what they don't realise ( and customer won't pay for ) is that you are supposed to use a F&B primer underneath first!

I use Optiva primer by Tikkurila
That's great stuff but this is apparently getting popular.
About time Farrow and Ball kept up with modern paints

The estate emulsion you mentioned is horrendous in darker colours, it marks if you even breath near it !! 😁

Been using this on a customers hall, stairs and landing recently and I was pleasantly surprised. The opacity was excellent and covered for 2 but I did ease it up a little as I found it a bit thick and scratchy if that makes sense? Also dries a bit urgent so just watch out for that when it comes to keeping that wet edge going. I'd definitely use it again but for the cost per gallon, I'd say dulux heritage is a better bet. 👍

Yes agreed. I use Tikkurila High Performance Vinyl Matt over this any day but customers wanted the proper stuff

Jeez... At £120 it should be putting itself on.

It’s a really beautiful paint and lovely on walls I love it but not amazing for wood work in high traffic in my experience for chipping and marking durability .
