The Best Roller Kit For Painting Large Areas Without The Risk Of Sludge Marks And Rust Marks

I purchased this Wooster Big Ben 18 inch roller cage and tray for a reason. I wanted to paint a large area without the risk of getting that sludge that usually comes out the end of a roller or the rust makes that it can leave on a finished ceiling. This happens when a roller cage containing metal starts to rust after a while especially when the kit goes from job to job without cleaning it. I keep a white kit for jobs and wrap them up in bags rather than washing it out before every job so I can use it over and over again. After a while it will produce a rusty sludge that is so annoying.
I went for the Wooster Big Ben as its pure solid plastic plus the size is the biggest you can get. The sleeve is a 1/2 inch nap Picasso Microfiber which is an 18 inch and includes end caps.
The results are spot on. This will now be my main goto kit for ceilings.

I got this arm for a huge night club ceiling about a year ago, its still going strong no problems with the pins. I use for most ceilings, mint bit of kit 👌

Wooster used to do a Little Ben 12 inch cracking Roller but it's been discontinued, glad i kept mine .😉

It's the masking and cleaning up that does it for me. I've got the GX21 but hardly use it.
I probably will when I start to feel it getting harder to do big ceilings as I'm nearly the big 50 next year lol

Been using Big Ben for ceilings for about 4 or 5 years Dan , no problems whatsoever. Whoever breaks one of these doesn't know how to roll properly.

I’m looking to changing my arrowworthy 18in roller cage, to either the 18in Wooster Big Ben or Hulk cage. What’s your honest opinion on the better cage out of the 2?

Well I would say Big Ben as it stops the rust and sludge marks that end up on a ceiling once dried which is a massive issue for me as I always bag up a white roller and use it over and over again without cleaning it. The good thing about the Hulk is the adjustable arm so you can use different size sleeves but if your talking 18inch then Bid Ben all the way. They also sell replacement ends for it aswell

Next time, try the two fussy bloke sleeves. Trust me, I don’t use anything else, and not found a better finish from a sleeve using them.

@@petra2885 Honestly, they rinse out like new. Whether I’ve been doing a white wash room and keep them in bags for a week, or washed out each time after using a colour, they wash out easy, and roll perfectly next time I need to use them. And most importantly for me, is the finish they left, whether 4in, 9in or the 21in, for me their the best. I used to use the chunky Hamilton perfection sleeves a lot, especially on my woodwork. Then I used the 10mm two fussy blokes, (there’s a 5mm one aswell, amazing on cabinets, like a spray finish) and the sleeves last, and honestly, to date never had a bit of lint come off one. Give them a try.
