    the picture that was on the wall at the end was paul, louis had the picture put away for soo long that when he finally found himself again he decided to put it back up to remember paul and claudia’s dress was the first thing to be put up but then the screenwriters asked jacob what else would louis hang up to remember and he really wanted paul’s picture to also be apart of the last scene:’) plus if you look at the apartment louis has a bunch of color and plants which he never had before

      Not a memory or hallucination, right. But can we be sure it is "true Lestat"?
      Not something he wants us to believe about him?
      I hope Danny will be as skeptic as he was with Louis story. Even more so because Lestat tried to strangle Danny in teaser for S3. This behaviour shoyld not be tolerated. No way.

      @@eliselevi109 It's still abuse. Knowing Daniel had issues with powerful vampires making him a puppet.
      Lestat did the same thing as Armand. Made him a puppet. And he did it casually.
      Besides "trying to kill" is understandable since they are vampires - they actually eat people. But this kind of puppetiering - its pure disrespect.

      There are three sides to every story: Your side, their side, and the truth. First, we got Louis' side; next, we'll get Lestat's side. We'll probably never get the full/whole truth and nothing but. Lol

  •  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +36

    Armand is older than Lestat, but not as powerful. Lestat has the blood of Akasha, the mother of all vampires. But that's something you'll learn more about next season. Lestat is the series' protagonist, therefore you will see a lot of him. Love your reactions.

    • @jaginaiaelectrizs6341
      @jaginaiaelectrizs6341 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Truthfully..... I'm not really sure how Lestat is more powerful than Armand, in the books, even before Lestat had any of Akasha's blood at all. But everything I could say about that is way down the road yet.😅👀

    • @JovianEmpress
      @JovianEmpress 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jaginaiaelectrizs6341 in the books, Magnus, Lestat's maker was older than Armand so much stronger and he made Lestat guzzle his blood. He didn't plan to survive it.

    • @jaginaiaelectrizs6341
      @jaginaiaelectrizs6341 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JovianEmpress I was trying to avoid spoilers. (Since the first two seasons of the tv series only cover the 1st book and everything regarding Lestat's transformation and Armand's transformation doesn't come into the story until at least Book 2 or even later in the book series.) But, here goes nothing, I guess: STOP reading HERE unless you want spoilers from Book 2 and later in the book series.
      Lestat's maker actually wasn't older than Armand, in the books, unless you count how old they were physically as a human before becoming vampires.
      In the books, Armand was already a vampire even before the year 1500; Magnus didn't become a vampire until decades after 1500, somewhere around halfway to the year 1600. (Unless I am misremembering something.)
      The only real difference is that Armand's maker had made other vampires before making Armand, whereas Lestat's maker had only made Lestat-EXCEPT, as far as I know, it had been more years between Armand and the last vampire Armand's maker had transformed before Armand than it had been between when Lestat's maker first became a vampire and when Lestat was transformed; not to mention Armand's maker was one generation closer to the source than Lestat's maker was and Armand's maker had also personally drank directly from the source multiple times. Armand's maker also made Armand guzzle Armand's maker's blood A LOT when Armand was first transformed into a vampire, arguably even more than Lestat had guzzled from Lestat's maker[ and not just once but multiple times while Armand was transforming], specifically because Armand's maker deliberately wanted Armand to be extra strong too.
      The only real explanation for why Lestat was so strong is that, as Armand tells Lestat, sometimes it doesn't seem to matter how strong a vampire's maker was or wasn't-sometimes a new vampire will just come out either much much weaker than otherwise typically expected or much much stronger than expected, pretty much just at total random, even when by all accounts that vampire theoretically really shouldn't have.

    • @DaysieRose
      @DaysieRose 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jaginaiaelectrizs6341Also I think Armand's particular strength was in creating illusions and sort of glamoring others, and while Lestat was susceptible to it, Gabrielle was less so. It's like Lestat was just physically very strong, even as a mortal, and it transferred in the blood. That's kind of how I saw it. Because as to the strength of only children
      (This might be a spoiler but the show doesn't seem like it's picking up this plot line)
      Daniel was an only child but he ended up kind of feeble-minded in the end, kind of like he'd been before Armand finally turned him because he ended up simping so hard he didn't care about anything anymore

    Not all book readers care for Armand. For a while he was my least favorite vamp but after I read his autobiography (the 6th book) I did develop some sympathy for him. I'll always be Team Lestat though because the Brat Prince is an amazingly complex and charismatic character who overwhelms everyone. His own creator, Anne Rice, fell in love with him!

      I wonder how much of it is a love for Assad as Armand, moreso than an appreciation of book Armand. Assad brings... Idk how to explain it... Assad makes Armand seem approachable and in the book he's usually cold and calculating (in other's perspective of him). Lol even Assad was warning everyone in the BTS episodes about Armand. I really like his portrayal of the character. He made me appreciate him a lot more ❤

    6:54 yeah, the dispatching of the theater of the vampires wasn't super long in the book either... It was pretty quickly and efficiently done. Even in the movie it was pretty quickly done... Mainly, because Louis I was able to catch them ALL off guard.... The TV show actually kind of expanded upon things. They added the whole chase sequence and all of that dialogue between Louis and Santiago. In the book and the movie Louis kills them all in the theater. He doesn't have to chase them down. So they made the whole killing the whole theater a little bit longer in the show. More interesting, if you can imagine. It was really really quickly handled in the source material.

    Armand is actually more villainous in the books and he and Daniel have a history as well in the books that show hasn't really explored yet. Love or hate him, but Armand is a complex and tragic character, just like lot of them vampires (maybe even more so). Those who haven't read the books and know little of Armand's life before Louis might not understand why people like him at all, which is fair. 25:07 - Nah, I'm completely with you! IF they manage to make it to the end of the published books with the tv series, especially if they have access to use any notes or hints from Anne Rice or her son Christopher to go by regarding things she hadn't written or published yet but might've tentatively been planning ahead for, I'd love to see it keep going even after the point when the books stopped-if they still have the same people working on it, I think they have the right kinda people working on it to be able to do it tributary justice enough; it won't be the same as if she had continued it herself, but it could still potentially be pretty awesome, since I do believe she hinted once that she might've had possible ideas enough to potentially write another 2 or 3 more books beyond the last one she published. That could be so cool. Or even if they just kinda, with this same type of respect and adoration and passion they've been channeling so far did their own thing with it even after the source material was covered. I think I'd kinda love that, too. Sort of keep the spirit and memory alive, even after. There's definitely a lot that could still be done. The story definitely wasn't closed or concluded completely, I don't think. Although I'm sure some people would feel the best way to honor her and the series would be to not do that, so, idk. I can't help my own feelings about it though. Buut, alas, we'll see! 🙂

    To be fair to Armand lovers, he IS the one who saved Louis in the text. They changed it for the show, but I’m not mad about it! 1) It gave book readers an extra surprise. 2) It makes sense with Armand‘s psychology that he would immediately start plotting his boyfriend’s demise bcuz he felt rejected the night of Madeleine’s turning 😅 Then flip back when Louis survived like “oh well! maybe I could still make him love me!” Bcuz he was never motivated by hate, it was emotional fear.
    The first 2 seasons are covering Louis’ story in the 1st book, and we’re meeting Armand through these events. But his character isn’t *only* the worst things he’s done which are covered this season (in the books he’s *both* better & worse). He’s multifaceted & we’ll get to see the better sides of him in the future, it can only go up from here! Even if he’s redeemed in the show, Armand will still be a chaotic, traumatized, obsessive, morally grey character…it’s part of the reason he’s so beloved.
    I don’t condone any of the awful things he’s done, he’s definitely manipulative & a liar but he’s not as premeditative or cunning as it may seem! I enjoy ‘Gremlin Armand’ as much as I enjoy him at his sweetest & most romantic (which we’ve yet to see!)

    • @IndieRockerHippy
      @IndieRockerHippy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      He saved Louis in the books yeah but also plotted Claudia's demise just to have Louis to himself. And... I won't give away spoilers for people who haven't read the books, but I guess you know what I'm talking about - involving his treatment of another character during that whole thing. That made me so mad! I'm glad the show did what they did with the story.

      @@IndieRockerHippy same, i agree! I want to throttle Armand (but he’s still my fav 😂) He wanted Claudia dead & to be the only one in Louis’ life, and the flip in the show makes sense bcuz it’s motivated by that same obsessive psychology. Armand saved Louis bcuz he wanted to keep him all to himself in the book, but in the show it makes sense that he’s reactive to perceived abandonment & then swings to the other extreme. Perfectly fits his character to want Louis dead in the show then doing everything to trap him once he has the opportunity to be Louis’ sole person.

    2:45 - To be fair, they have hinted throughout Season 2 that Santiago despite being younger was possibly powerful enough to rival Armand. (Sometimes, older, does not always mean more powerful.) But it's also completely dubious just how much of this actually even happened at all exactly as we're being told/shown that it allegedly did or not. Unreliable narrations, and all-we may or may not ever know anything for absolutely sure and certain. In a way, that's kind of always been the beauty of the Vampire Chronicles; to a point, every viewer/reader kinda just gets to decide for themselves whatever they do or don't personally believe is actually the truth or not, and they may or may not decide differently after each differing side of the story given throughout the entire 13 to 14 books long series. Some people decide there is no concrete/reliable objective truth; others, find one side of the story or another more or less palatable/preferable to them; some people essentially disown this or that book as inferior quality writing and too out of character to be acknowledged as canon in their own minds, OR they personally to just go with whatever was or wasn't written most recently and everything earlier essentially like a first draft that may or may not have been retconned by later installments; and so on. It's an interesting fandom!verse to live in. 🙂

      @@--ArcAngel-- Well, that's exactly how plenty of people felt about Armand IN the books, long before Assad came along to bring that to life.
      Personally, I like the fact that Armand is so good at being the worst BUT also that he's the opposite kind of worst than what most people(at least back when I first got into the series around when the 'Queen of the Damned' movie was new) stereotypically expect or ever ever see coming-and also that once you get his own POV and such he does have fairly understandable reasons for being the way he is, even if he still does not so much always have actual valid justification or full on excuse to be so even in spite of his reasons. (Like, it makes sense why he is the way he is, but that isn't saying that it's actually okay for him to actually be so all the time if ever.) Lol
      Nicki is actually my ult!favorite Vampire Chronicles' character, but Armand is my favorite VC character that features in more of the series overall.
      Lestat is pretty fantastic too, yes, but also a little bit overhyped and has so many people eating out of his hand so far up his butt they can't see anything else[ in my opinion]-he really blinds people with how bold and flashy he is and/or sucks them in with how intense / intensely emotional he is. 😂🤣🤣

      I think you will like the movie. I still watch it all the time and love it. I like comparing how the two versions contrast, but are still basically the same story at heart.

    btw! the audiobooks are free on youtube, and in my opinion better than the audible ones. i did most of iwtv with the audible version then found the youtube one and enjoyed it more. i also didn't really enjoy the first book until the end, it was quite boring to me, the show did it MUCH better and the changes def improved it. i'm onto the 4th book and so far the rest have been incredible.

      Interesting. I’ll have to look into this. I already got the audible but I can return it! I’m honestly torn again if I want to listen or not because it is fun to not know anything while reacting. So I may just listen to the first one and wait until season 3 to continue.. tho they may make 3 in two parts also .. so tbd

    25:52 - Some of it is also that, when you're reading the books, things legitimately read as seeming more one way than another in one book.....and that was the canon gospel, so to speak; until you could pick up the next book which then changed or completely recontextualized everything. So, for example, there are certain things in the book that play out a little differently than in the tv series that can leave you feeling a bit more negatively about Lestat(and certain things that happen in the books that the tv series just hasn't covered yet).... So, eventually when you're already used to swallowing both good and bad with Lestat to such extremes, or you're so used to accepting that possibly first-impressions could be wrong or than someone else's outside view on a particular character might not fully align with that character's own internal view of themself and such? I think that can prime people sometimes a bit more to be a little more willing to extend the same or similar kinda grace or leeway to all the characters too and not only to Lestat. If that makes any sense?? 🤔🫣😅🙃👀🤷🤷‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️🤭😁 But, in the tv series, we're already getting a slightly more 3-dimensionally rounded view of Lestat than we initially got at first in book one....but still not quite as in-depth or rounded a view yet of, say, Armand.
    But, yeah, I would also say that Armand is perhaps less openly apologetic often even when he does screw things up egregiously(whether he always does so entirely maliciously or not)....and because his greatest strength is his mind, it can be more difficult to want to trust that he is being legit "just in case" or something even if/when he does seemingly apologize or try to amend his ways and more difficult to parse out if or when he is/isn't actually indeed genuinely trying to change or better himself or his ways or not, because you don't know if he's actually seen or not the error of it or if he just knows he needs to try a different tactic or approach or whatever because it clearly didn't work previously. Whereas Lestat will be profusely openly apologetic sometimes(whenever he finally does admit to realizing he has floundered or screwed something up beyond epicly), which can make you want to trust or believe him a little more readily or something, and yet....sometimes he still really struggles with actually changing the behavior even despite perhaps genuinely feeling bad about it, but I think it can still make people feel a little more readily like he is actually trying to make it right or do better or such and/or really wasn't bungling things up entirely maliciously from the very start. (If any of that even makes any sense either??🤔🫣😅😅😆) But maybe that's just me and my own weird thoughts / possible misperceptions or whatnot. I'll just stop rambling now!! 😊 ^--^

    14:23 - Plenty of people actually like Armand specifically for being such a dastardly character.😂
    Just because you like a villain or antagonist character doesn't necessarily mean you think they're a good person or would ever actually condone anything they do if it were real rather than fictional.
    (Think of all the people who like Loki, or Hannibal, or so on.)
    People also like Armand for being sympathetic, at least once you get his POV in Book 6-but let's not confuse sympathetic with necessarily forgivable.
    But it's also important to be aware that Lestat in the books also does some really awful, dastardly things too sometimes(most of which haven't even been seen on screen in the tv series yet).
    It's kind of really just a big ol' tomayto-tomahto type situation which Vampire Chronicles' character or characters that each individual audience member personally will or won't find more and/or less likeable or forgivable or not and why/why-not. They're all a giant mess of good and bad bits all mixed together, really; every single character.
    Armand is definitely NOT literally everybody's favorite character though, just some people's(mine included-kinda tied with Nicki tho, for me). Lol
    But I personally think a lot of people also like Lestat best because of Main Character bias, without even realizing-the audience is generally speaking by very design supposed to side more with the main character than with anyone else, and often times the audience will end up feeling most attached to them just because the audience spends the most time with them and/or because the audience actually literally gets to see inside the way the main character's thoughts and feelings work in ways you don't really as much if ever necessarily get to glimpse inside other characters. And the depiction of Lestat in the tv series considered his depictions throughout the entire 10+ book series, not only his depiction in just Book 1 alone, so the way he is portrayed very much leads into the fact that he is the POV character for most of the series after Book 1.
    Although there is also an Armand POV book, too-far more of the books are Lestat POV, and not every fan has actually read or personally liked literally every single book in the whole series, for various reasons. 😊😶🤭🤭🤭 Lol
    So, basically, it's just very complex and rarely if ever so totally simple as it may at times perhaps seem it should be. 😁😁 And that's really the fun of it, I think! ^--^

    armand gave louis his life saving blood that resurrected louis out of the coffin. he did save him. lestat left louis to die in the coffin. let's stop the nonsense.

      If it wasn’t for Lestat, Louis would have been dead. Did you watch the show? It was Lestat that mind controlled the audience to banish him instead of killing him. Armand was the director lol

      @@BillyKearneyReacts I love popping metaphorical popcorn while watching people argue over which vampire's monstrosity is more or less egregious. I don't really care who actually saved who or not, they're all wonderfully terrible and terribly wonderful in different measures, and I like them all anyway. Lol 😊
      (It occurs to me this might've sounded insincere or sarcastic, but I meant it completely unironically -I think it's genuinely great how rich this world and these characters are that different people can see things so differently or feel so differently about it all that people could keep discussing / keep debating probably for hundreds of years still to come, I think that's really just a mark of how truly great both the original books and the tv adaptation are!)

    big Armand fan here! and less and less of a Lestat fan. Maybe it's Armand's beauty. But I wished we could have seen Armand as a mastermind tricking everybody to get what he wants. Instead we got a disappointing plot twist. Making Lestat being the one who saved Luis makes him also the one who could have saved Claudia and who didn't. He let his own daughter die! Also, Lestat changed Luis' execution from death by sunlight to death by banishment, which meant death by starvation in an iron coffin. The one who got Luis out of the coffin is the one who saved Luis. I really loved the whole show, except for this last episode.

      Not trying to spoil anything but all of this will be explained in S3 The Vampire Lestat. It’s definitely not what you think. We’re missing a lot of the story from Paris and will see that when Lestat tells his story. What actually happened in Paris.
