    Just did this on wife's camry and now it idles perfectly. Quite amazing how this valve operates with an electromagnet and tiny water jacket. you should remove front of unit and work the valve while spraying in cleaner

    I have a 2006 xB with 240k miles and it idles smooth. I clean the IAC and replace the pcv when I notice that the idle is not smooth. But I don't remove IAC from the car. I spray cab cleaner in to the port for the IAC then turn the car on. Repeat step several times until the car idles smooth.

    I found that removing the electromagnet allows you to confirm that you cleaned it thoroughly, it will spin. your method only half cleaned it there is carbon in spots you can't see.

    The IAC valve on my AE101R Corolla was so caked up, it still wouldn't move after a good cleaning. I had to take off the green solenoid and grab the end of the shaft with a pair of pliers (I should have put a rag between the pliers and shaft, but anyway), rotating it either way to eventually free it up to clean the places I couldn't get to originally because it was stuck half open. No more idling at 2000rpm with the air-conditioning on now 😅

    I have a 1995 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 that I have had for about 11 years 330000 miles on my good little truck . I’ve not had any issues with it so speak of.My coil needed to be changed it had lots of cracks in it was hard to start etc so I changed it . There were no problems with the truck until after I changed my coil . I now have a bad miss when I get it to about 2500 rpm ??? I have changed the coil 3 times trying to see if I have a bad coil . Not so ??? Spark plugs are good Distributor is good I’m at a loss why it’s not running right after I changed the coil . I’m going to clean my Throttlebody this weekend but need help finding my problem . Have you seen this before with a Tacoma 2.7 1997 thank you

    IAC QUESTION; Do you know if the IAC Is responsible for raising the idle speed when you turn the a/c on in an older Camry? I know the computer is involved, but does the IAC do the physical work? My 99 Camry's idle spools up a bit higher, then it settles down to exactly where it was when I press the a/c button to on. What is confusing to me is my previous 98 Corolla maintained a higher idle speed when I pressed the a/c button on to help with the bigger load on the engine. Just not sure if my Camry is supposed to be doing the same thing.

      as folding says, just watched a video (shade tree auto mechanic) where a guy says he taps the screws with a hammer to get them to separate because they are always super tight due to the metal (aluminum to iron). Supposedly, this is NOT due to someone overtightening. Just relaying the msg, no idea if he is right. Also, you can test the IAC valve? opening and closing with the 12V battery, center is positive and edges are negative.

    Hi Peter. I received changed my spark plugs and wires. I used the correct plugs ,double tipped , I decided to use the ngk blue wires. I also cleaned the MAF.
    My Idle is now a bit lower. 500-600 rpms at operating warm engine. This seems to be a bit low in my opinion even though it runs smoothly.

    My idle doesn't "jump around" on my 2000 prizm (corolla). It starts cold at around 1100 RPMs, then steadily climbs until fully warm at 1950 RPMs in park. I have P0505 on. Is this the IAC or likely something else?

    • @MTB4RNR

      aznnp77 Probably need to adjust it until it idles lower. It should lower the rpms when warm, not raise them.

    I had to replace the IACV on my 2002 Tacoma with the V6 at the dealership a few years back and the mechanic pointed out a couple of small vacuum tubes sticking out of the top of the intake manifold. He said to run some TB cleaner through there once and awhile but I'm not sure which tube to use or does it make a difference. They were real close together. Will that help the IACV stay clean longer and would Seafoam work ok for a cleaner?

      That cold idle speed for a Gen 9 Corolla is OK, but you need to change the intake manifold gasket. Use the Toyota gasket that has been improved over the original design. The updated gasket is orange in color.

    I have a 1998 4Runner. I am getting a strong vibration when I come to a stop at idle. I feel it in the steering wheel and under my feet. I had the throttle body cleaned about a year ago. Could this be an IAC issue?

    • @scream4meplz1994
      @scream4meplz1994 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I want to ask you, when your at a stop light and try to take off does the engine feel like its missing? And then once you speed up the vibration dissapears? Im looking around and im about to try and diagnose this same issue and to my knowledge it should be the idle air control valve. I took my throttle body apart the other day and i did my best to clean the iac but i didnt have the right spray and the 4runner is my only vehicle. But it was pretty dirty. I believe it is just sticking. Theres not much "force" that moves that valve as its magnetically controlled. I bought a replacement off of 1A Auto and im waiting for that to come in. My first step is to thourgholy clean the valve first and then test to see how it does. The next step (if cleaning does not work) is to replace it. Ill do one step at a time and share my results. Seems like a stupid easy fix.

    • @msconesix

      Gustavo Marci Could be a lot of different problems. I had a ford do that and it turned out to be the valves. 3 valves had low compression. It could be bad plugs, coil packs or sparkplug wires, restricted exhaust system and so on. You should do a leak down test on the valves.

      Try IAC valve, also maf sensor, also Jack might also be right.

      Yes my brother had this problem and was burning rich heavily. A part from his intake broke and fell back into the body of his come filter and was causing a bad reading from the MAF. The original commenter may he seeing a MAF problem or even worse, piston problems or damaged cylinder walls. Hope you guys got your problems sorted out.

    Would compressed air be an option in cleaning out the ports on this unit?

      No. You need a cleaner to dissolve the carbon deposits.

    NO NO NO NO!!!! They are Not Phillips…you are lucky you did not strip the top. Those screw/bolts are Japanese Industrial Standard . Look at the small dot on the head of the screw/bolt. There are specific JIS bits and screwdrivers for Japanese bikes and cars.

    So if I clean it I don't have to replace it with a new one?

    • @venomx4093
      @venomx4093 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nikola S You will eventually. Cleaning it is just a bandaid repair. Don't buy the generic iac valves either. Toyota's are very sensitive. Shell out the money and fix it right. $220 is what my wife just paid for the factory version.

      Do you have a video on how to remove the iac valve from the throttle body?

      Nikola S Yes. Go to my page on here. I just uploaded one yesterday. I tried to keep it simple without the long talking.
