    Great video.
You really go above and beyond for your customers.
I had a rough idle on my 03 Corolla.
I've taken apart my IAC further (the 2 screws on the front) and cleaned the internals with carb cleaner and a pipe cleaner to help improve the idle.
The thing is, I figured out when putting it back, that correct orientation of the IAC motor is critical or the idle will surge, (which also set my check engine light). I loosened the 2 front screws a bit, clocked the IAC motor a little, and tightened them back down until the idle smoothened out.
Also to aid in future cleaning, I replaced the bottom screws with hex bolts so I can remove the IAC with a 1/4 inch ratchet without removing the entire throttle body.
It worked for me, but I take no responsibility for anyone else.

A dirty MAF ( Mass Air Flow) Sensor can also effect idle, causing it to be high.

Owning a Corolla with a 1ZZFE, thank you for posting this. I haven't had this problem, but now I know what to look for.

This engine usually needs an intake manifold gasket eventually if it starts running lean . Make sure to use the orange upgraded one.

For the sake of a few more minutes work, I would have taken off the valve control motor to clean and check the valve shaft for free movement and to also see if there was any contamination on the motor that may hinder its movement.
This would I’m assuming also give me greater access into the valve body to clean out any obstructions.
Once all was clean I would then reassemble it all and test for correct operation. If the valve was perfectly free to rotate but didn’t, it would then indicate that the drive motor was as fault.
Thank you for your helpful and informative videos, they are a great source of information to many of us. 👍

I cleaned the throttle body on my Tacoma and put in new spark plugs and it now runs like a top.
All these auto’s need is a little TLC and they run for a long time. Thanks for all you show us Peter you are the best.

These are getting more exotic. I was used to the older Toyota on/off idle control valves and probably would have assumed this was the same. Thanks Petr!

Hello, you can take the electronic piece off and turn the shaft, there is a bearing that you can lube. I have successfully done this, try it, take care

We scored when you chose not to work in Hollywood Peter. Great job, thank you.
Too bad you can't get the spec for the voltage range applied to that thing, so you could attach a power supply and watch the axle rotate.

Just in case they are still having the issue. I had a similar issue with a 2005 Corolla XRS. The engine is the 1.8 but with some performance mods. It was idling at 1600 after warming up and the Check Engine light was on with the P0505 code. I did all that you did including replacing the IAC with a new Toyota OEM IAC. Looked for vacuum leaks, cleaned MAF, cleaned Throttle Body, still had the high idle and P0505 code. Finally I went old school and adjusted the idle screw. I was afraid the computer would freak out but it was successful. Maybe someone adjusted it before me when things were dirty? This was the final step in fixing my issue though. Thanks for the thorough walk through!

Got the same on my 98 maxima. Seperated the iac motor from the housing and a piece of electric tape was right where the pintal and housing were supposed to seal. But the iac was bad after my wife tested for a couple of days

I once long ago had a mid 90's Camry 5S-FE and I would do this maintenance a lot to make sure it stayed in top shape. I wouls seadoam the throttle body and some in vacuum lines too to help with this buildup

I suspect this Matrix was assembled in California. The Pontiac Vibe was also assembled there.
As to the parts not made in Japan, this is expected, as the E130 Corolla was never sold there. Instead, they had slightly smaller version Corolla (E120). The E130 was an international version with assembly also in Canada.
Southeast Asia also had E130, but was known as the Corolla Altis with large assembly plant in Thailand (9 different trim levels!!!). In US,.we only had CE (Classic Edition), LE (Luxury Edition), and the S (Sport).

Very interesting and helpful. I got the same code an hour ago and had to find out why. This showed me right where to start.
I also get PO442 but I’m told that it’s hard to locate the leak without a smoke machine. Is there any other way to check which ECS valve is leaking?
    Thanks for your help

1MZ-FE non VVTi, high cold start idle of around 1800rpm - 2000rpm until the engine starts warming up then it comes down gradually to a perfect idle. Is that normal or an issue ?
I previously replaced the original ISCV because it actually tested faulty. With a genuine Toyota/Aisan unit. Or has the computer learnt this a normal thus requiring a computer reset ?

    • @LAactor
      @LAactor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Normal. Like he mentioned in the end by saying cold start. Toyota programs the ECU to do this so the coolant can get hot and circulate so the system gets to closed loop faster. You don't need a reset. Within some programmed drive cycles it will test itself out of the system and pass.

Aluminum does not "rust" it oxidizes and is called corrosion, in the form of aluminum oxide. Rust is Iron oxide.

So that IAC valve that's sticking (on the bottom of the throttle body) that you tried to clean with the spray and brush.....
.....you need to take the electrical connector/electromagnet off to expose the valve shaft.....so you can twist it back & forth while you spray inside to unstick that valve. See here on this video ----> th-cam.com/video/WsP2-HKz7vE/w-d-xo.html
    th-cam.com/video/WsP2-HKz7vE/w-d-xo.html
I've got a 2000 Camry whose IAC valve was stuck & the car WOULDN'T idle....had to hit the gas pedal to keep it running until it warmed up. I cleaned this valve just like that guy in the video above & it worked like a charm !! Just turn the key & the car starts & idles just fine.
Of course, it could be a bad electromagnet which you probably replaced.....but if it was just stuck......you saved the customer some money
