    I have nothing but respect for what he achieved in the last 7 years in Ironman/Challenge racing and before that in ITU racing. Just smashed his own long-distance world record today. Crazy.

    ...and now he won the European Championships, the 70.3. Championsips and is the current Ironman world Champion! Hard work pays off.

    Congratulations on making it to the Wold Championship! Months ago you inspired to take on the sport too and to become shoot for become the first Afghan who have completed an ironman and hopefully become the first Afghan who have made it to the world championship in Kona, Hawaii! I would appreciate any sort of advice and sponsorship to buy a proper bike. I am using a big made in 70s and I bought from a bicycle rescue shot in NY, USA.

      tt bikes sometimes have that integrated. then they have that tube so that they can stay aero

    • @AdamWarrix
      @AdamWarrix 8 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      Sometime, especially on hot days, your bike can get dehydrated. Everyone thinks about the athlete but not many consider the needs of the bike. It needs to stay hydrated, even more so when doing long distance training. The fact that Jan acknowledges this is why he is a world class athlete.

    • @prid99
      @prid99 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is actually only allowed on TRI bikes, the UCI wont allow those frame designs.

    • @AdamWarrix
      @AdamWarrix 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Girona is a popular spot for endurance athletes to train in Europe, like Boulder in the US. They have access to a great pool, the best coaches, the purest EPO, and amazing places to ride and run. It only makes sense to train in such an excellent spot.

      hayderimran7 He grew up in South Africa, so he doesn't have the traditional German accent when he speaks English.

    • @axlrosea675
      @axlrosea675 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maurice Long still has a bit of a German accent. I'm German, so don't bother trying to convince me I'm wrong.

      +Andrew Jennings ok, fine. It sounded a little German to me, but I'm used to American English. Well, I think his wife is from NZ.

    • @ArbyCreations
      @ArbyCreations 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +axlrosea675 South Africa has a lot of Dutch influence so the accent does sound very different to American English. He obviously has some influences being German too :)
