No chorus, straight fast story. Great song. These guys are outstanding. Thanks for reacting to it.

A great live act especially in a small venue, some great nights.

Probably my favourite Squeeze song closely followed by 'Cool for cats'. It was inspired by a 1965 BBC TV play about the love lives of three working class young women factory workers in South London (Clapham Junction). The gritty realism was controversial back then especially as it featured a back street abortion.

The brilliance of this song, is they were brave enough to stay on the same melody throughout.....

If you want to learn UK slang then Cool For Cats is the song to listen to. Most of the lyrics will go over your head.
In one of his final interviews before he was murdered, John Lennon named Squeeze as one of his favourite bands at the time.

The lyrical rhyming sequence of the song are something very unique and the song doesnt have a chorus only quoting the title of the song once

Wow! So weird to think that even for guys of his age - let alone kids - this song is as much a historical artefact as, say, "Rock Around the Clock" was to me!

Piano was the one and only Jools Holland who went on to be a well respected music presenter.
