    Hi Arith. I think when we deal with magic and staves when we ask for something like for example knowledge it also comes with a price. We need to give something in exchange to that deity or spirit. Ođinn gave up his eye for knowledge. Some time the price can be high. Just a thought. Thanks again. You are excellent!!!

    • @ArithHärger
      @ArithHärger  6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Indeed there is always a price and knowledge doesn't come for free. Sometimes the price is our own sanity. We do what we do for greater knowledge and sometimes our mistakes teach us to do things in another way, with a different approach. Trying and failing until we succeed. Thank you ^^

    Heya bro. You see, i’ve studies the Vodun/Voodoo and Hoodoo vévés and Loas a long ago. I’m used to draw the entities’ « vévés », and i’m stunned by the similarities. Those curles ends, number 3, like the trident ends (which to me is a representation of electricity such as plasma and roots and connections but anyway) all those seems to process of a same logic too. It’s more laborate in the Voodoo/root work than in the icelandic staves, but that’s really weird how some details are very close.

  • @leafhawkstudiosofficial8711

    I personally think most staves were heavily influenced by ogham, like the X-shaped ogham or the mysterious six-lined ogham, which seems to correspond to the letter H in one of the oghamic alphabets, the letter itself meaning "fear", so like, it was needed to maybe scare the others with ill will to harm you or something. There are cases of also the more rhomboid ogham... the X was originally with the meaning "salmon of wisdom", which makes me think back to that rune stave in the first video of the runes when you don't want someone to your house, as if that pattern is hindering the person's wisdom/knowledge and just messes it up. I also saw something similiar to that curvy line we saw to the "return to sender" stave, so yeah - there's a lot going on. That is what I have found, at least. My knowledge of oghams finally pays off lol. Edit: I noticed that the little "branches" we see sometimes remind me a lot of how the celts mark the beginning/end of their words. I wonder if the staves are a mix of the bindrunes and the oghamic scripture - err, in *some* cases, at least.

    I really love your videos because you're serious and the things you present make possible to compare Icelandic traditions to traditions of other people and instead of seeking for differences, seek for common ground. My family is Portuguese and Italian. The Portuguese side is of Celtic descend and the Italian is purely Latin. Living in Brazil I've a lot of contact with the African religions, particularly Candomblé and there are really amazing coincidences with Nordic pagan religions. I just think it fascinating. So thank you for your videos.

    Real question though might call be dumb but in 11:00 when your on the topic Protection talking on the subject of the KaupaLoki the circles that are in the symbol does it matter if we draw those lines that are going in between then first the do the circle or draw the circle first then run the line through it cause u see there are two different ways of doing this as I just explained two of them to u, so does it matter really, and also the other reason I was asking is because if there are two differ ways then what if I drew it and the spell messed up cause it was the wrong way u see? But i hope I don’t sound stupid for asking this 😂😂

    Arith, I have enjoyed your videos. Are there ways to read or interpret a stave or sigil that is unfamiliar by understanding or reading its individual components? Can one "read" a sigil in a similar way that one can read or interpret a bindrune? That is, do straight lines vs curved lines have fixed meaning or do parallel staves vs crossed staves? I know you have interpreted the number of crossed lines at the end of a stave to have significance, do the other components as well? For example, if one had never seen a Vegviser before, could one look at the construction of each arm of the sigil and understand the intended purpose? If so, is there a source for this? I would like to be able to "read" staves and sigils rather than just memorizing them. It would obviously be crucial to constructing new or unique staves. Thank you for your time.

    Great video, and I am happy to sub. Just a few suggestions: the american market has too many books on Norse runes for magical uses and many are full of useless or misleading info. I'd love to hear your thoughts and recommendations on good Rune books that actually provide valuable knowledge, and your thoughts on the 17 and 18 Runes of the Armanen runes. Hello from Egypt!
    Thank you so much for such effort for all the videos. It truely is wonderful to see someone with such passion.
    I have a question that I would really be grateful if you answer it for me.
    1- Can parchment be replaced with regular virgin (unused) paper? Since parchment was the equivalent of that back in the day nd it was almost always parchment for magickal workings.

      @ArithHärger  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have never thought that you spoke with a Portuguese (Pork & Cheese) accent and until you told me I always thought that you were Swedish. As I hve said most of my Pt knowledge is from Madeira although I do know mainlanders they always speak to me in English.
      Often I have heard people complaining that their English is not good because they compare it to ours which they really should not do.
      We have a supermarket chain called Tesco that some were calling Teschcu which amused me.

    • @ArithHärger
      @ArithHärger  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love Tesco! O.O it's my favorite "attraction" in Britain :p and surprisingly cheap. We need Tescos in Portugal so people won't starve. Anyway.. my Portuguese is not the Capital Portuguese, it's the regular central Portuguese. The capital Portuguese has a lot of "OU" sounds. Some day I shall say a few words in PT here on TH-cam :p My Portuguese is the type of slow and deep PT that if you are not paying attetion it just sounds like Russian.

    • @colinp2238
      @colinp2238 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not for me as I hear so much of it.
      Tesco is the worst we have Aldi and Lidl and I'm sure that I've seen Lidl in Madeira so is it in Pt? They are cheaper and have better customer service. We also have Asda, Sainsbury, Morrisons, Marks & Spencer and the old favourite the Co-op (Co-operative Society) but if you want to be posh Harrods and Fortnam & Mason.

      I think it's just a modern approach, I have multiple staves with small variations geared up for identical results. Once you get familiar to Icelandic magick staves you'll start questioning the influence of a rune you enjoy working with, and you'll find celtic, and sometimes you'll even notice Goetia influence! I think sometimes though it's just a preference by the practitioner, and that my friend is any ones guess why? Perhaps a customized stave was needed to get around another volva's protection?

    Arith I would like to ask... Does having a certain amount of lines in the prong change the meaning? So for example in Bjorn's tattoo under his eye, he has 2 lines going across the stave at the bottom and in pictures of other staves, they have 3?

    What is your view on inverted runes? Do you think it reverses the runes meaning?

    • @ArithHärger
      @ArithHärger  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does. I have a Rune Series still going on where I also present the inverted meaning of the runes when its the case.

      @ArithHärger  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah some times I speak in a medieval way and forget that nobody uses parchment anymore, and scrools :P . . . anyway, a piece of paper will due to trick. I usually recycle old paper and make a sort of gray paste and mold it to make paper and use it for this.

    When you say kaupa loki it sounds like a Hawaiian word.

    • @candiedginger8729

      No one in particular, however when I looked through a Hawaiian dictionary I found:
      kaupa - to walk straight
      'alohi (lohi) - sparkle, shine

    Thank you so much, this video has been very helpful but I've got a question. Some of these runes require a certain material, can't you use paper or will it not work? Or not as powerful?

    • @bellanova5491
      @bellanova5491 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use paper and they work. But I find the best way they work is when you in-vision them burst from your body towards you , like you seeing them as 3dimensional. Hope this helps

    • @ThoseGamersWhithNoLivesJames
      @ThoseGamersWhithNoLivesJames 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bellanova5491 ah ok, so like use your 3rd eye to visual see the symbol drawn to you and visual it's energy/power of the symbol. Similar like that?

    • @bellanova5491
      @bellanova5491 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThoseGamersWhithNoLivesJames I would recommend you get the book Icelandic Magick by Stephen flowers. All these rune staffs are front that book. But yes just visualize it. Also, this is not a traditional technique but some people carve the symbol on a candle , so If your open to that , that’s another option. I hope that helps
