    Tip I learned from grinding a massive 115 year old yellow pine with my WM grinder. Start by grinding only the above ground portion and then rake up the pile of shavings. Then grind the remaining below ground portion. This helps separate the dirt from the wood shavings as much as possible when back filling the hole.

    I just picked up the same stump grinder for my tractor yesterday. I’m excited to get grinding with it and your videos have been super helpful learning a couple tips and tricks before I get started.

    FYI...I think if you consult the manual you will find that the wrench is specifically for the four vertical teeth. All of the other teeth can simply be torqued directly with your torque wrench.
    FYI, your videos were very helpful...just took delivery of my new WG24!👍

    Just a heads up 24 mm and 15/16 are the same size if you don’t have a 24 mm wrench. The same goes for 3/4 and 19mm 7/16 and 11mm and 5/16 and 8 mm.

    Are you aware that the carbides are just silver soldered to the base? THEY SHOULD be available at any supply shop for machine shops. Most people with an oxy aceteline torch can solder new ones back.

      I was NOT aware of that. Thanks for sharing with me and all the viewers.

    I have one of the stump grinder's, the teeth wear out far too quickly. Not good quality

    Does the grinder pull your tractor down much when it’s loaded up?
    Thanks for the video

      I'm running a 16.2 PTO HP tractor and it does not pull mine down to bad. I made sure I got the clutches adjusted for my PTO power. Good Video by the way. LIKE.

    How many RPM do you run tractor while grinding

    • @timbervisions
      @timbervisions  ปีที่แล้ว

      At the point that is required to spin the pto at 540. It's clearly marked on the tachometer. Pretty sure it's close to 3k

    how much would you charge for doing that stump??

    • @timbervisions
      @timbervisions  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was about 40 inches of area that needed grinding at $3 per inch. That works out to be $120 for that stump. It was my stump, so it was "free". For the regular tree service guy in town, I'm sure it would be $160-200. Probably more in other parts of the country as well. Prices are regional, keep that in mind.

      @Richard31406 that tractor should work well with the grinder. It's hydro transmission? The gear drives go little too fast for this style of grinder.

      I tend to agree with that statement. I did find a company that makes some good replacement teeth for this grinder though. You can get them at gabdon.com for $11.50 per tooth, 15 tooth minimum order. I've been happy with them so far. Best of luck with your grinding!
