    I had the same problem yesterday installing a new seal. The bottom opening side corner just wouldn't connect. I thought I wasted money on the seal but then laying in bed last night the light globe moment happened and I figured out a solution which I put into immediate action the next morning to see if it worked and yep success!!!! Not sure if this page is active but happy to share my solution if anyone has the same problem.

      @@abigailo4661 I put some leaing weight against the fridge door. One of those olive oil 3 litre cans on an angle so it leans on the door bottom corner (opposite side of hinge) in the middle of the door a barbell weight. This meant that the seal all around was connecting. Then I heated the seal in a continual circular motion so it softened up and stayed in that position. Then I left it like that overnight. The logic is that you can't stretch out the bit that won't connect more than the amount of rubber there is so why not bring the rest of the seal down it its level. It worked spot on for me.

    Thank you for this tip of pulling out the flattened seal. Even though mine is 8 years old, the seal is still soft and pliable but only flattened out and had uneven gaps. After pulling out to give the seal more "air-bulked" , my door now seals much better.

    Thank you for your video. I have a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator/freezer. The freezer would not seal at all. Had been getting worse and worse. I removed the seal, cleaned it up (got the glue and mold off it), dried it, put it in the dryer for about 20 mins to get it to soften (and it did a great job) then used your point of turning it upside down, and reinstalled it (THAT was difficult.. had to do it about a half inch at a time utilizing wedges that are used to pop dashboards in vehicles loose). Door went from not sealing at all to sealing fantastic. Thank you for your pointers. Kept me from paying over 200.00 for a new seal.

    Mine had a gap probably from the bottom all the way to the bottom of the handle it is a regular refrigerator I have tried everything I just use the blow dryer on it I bent it out and everything for right now it's staying sealed but how long do I have to leave it shut in order for it to fix itself

    • @FridgeSeal
      @FridgeSeal  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Usually after heating and manipulating the seal, it should stay in shape after 30 minutes.
      You may need to bend the door or try other methods if the gap is recurring.
      If you are having further trouble let me know.

    Oh, the seal comes out just like that. Awesome. Washed in hot water. Flipped it over. Adjusted the door. Hairdryer! Winning.
    Mine also appears to be leaking from a gap in the metalwork between the plastic box (freezer interior moulding) and the metal outer. Probably shouldn't matter that much, but definitely some cool air coming from there, so bit of blue-tack over the gaps and job done. 20mins. Gotta be happy with that.

    Hello. Thanks for the quick and easy to follow video! I have replaced my freezer gasket, but its not sealing well. I used the warm water trick, hair dryer, and pressing along gaps. It looks good to the eye. No gaps. However the paper test fails and I am still getting ice build up. Any other suggestions? I have run out of ideas.

      How long has the new seal been on the door for? It can take a little while to settle in.
      Its' hard for me to offer a specific suggestion without seeing the freezer seal.
      Are you sure its 100% sealing all the way around the door inc the bottom of the door when closed?
      If you want to take the time making a quick video of the freezer and issue id be happy to watch and offer suggestions.

    • @FridgeSeal
      @FridgeSeal  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sorry for the late reply! with hair dryer, high heat. Depending on the brand and type of seal there are other better tips to fix the gap, like putting small amount of blutack underneath the seal to raise it out (this only works for flap seals).
      If you are still having an issue with the gap, send me an email and i can give you suggestions to fix it easily - brett @ fridgeseal dot com

    Jfc, it worked impeccably. This is 20 mins after the initial application and I'm expecting to have to redo the whole thing again properly but as a haphazard "have a go" I've initially done I'm genuinely surprised hiw well the 10 mins I put in worked out.
    I'm not naive to the fact the item will need replacing soon but at least my 2 tubs of Ben and Jerry's and my frozen avocado toast are safe for the coming days.

    I have a freezer from 2001 with a large gap in the seal. Should I try this, replace the seal, or replace the entire freezer??

  • @andrew_koala2974
    @andrew_koala2974 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    One can refresh the entire door seal by removing it and placing it into boiling water.
    Boil a lot of water in every pot one has - and in a microwave oven and tip it into the
    Laundry sink - soak the seal in boiling water - keep the water as close to boiling point -
    even if it means removing some and adding more heat - as the water cools quickly

    • @FridgeSeal
      @FridgeSeal  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hot water can help get the seal to straighten out if its misshaped. the issue with boiling water is, with certain seals like screw in seals by the time you get the seal on the door, it has completely cooled down and is ineffective, you will find most people that do this method are in 3rd world counties and can't afford a hair dryer or electricity. A heat gun or hair dryer is much easier and quicker.

      There could be a few things causing this, such as blocked vents. You could try adjusting the temperature slightly warmer to see if that helps. If the issue persists, you might need to install a vacuum relief valve to relieve the pressure.
