Thanks to you I just fixed my freezer! I'm disabled and I did it on my own! It was a thing someone put in for my walker that was stuck in between the seals! I found it myself! With your help! Haven't been more proud of myself in a long time. Couldn't afford this! Thank you so very much!!! 💜☺️
Just wanted to let you know that I was 12 hours from calling in a service tech on our freezer, then watched your vid, did what you said, and it appears to be fixed! Thanks.
Thank you for this video - it saved us an expensive service call - our freezer drawer must have been left open a bit at some time and once we took the bottom drawer out we saw a huge ice build up in the bottom that was preventing the drawer from closing completely. You have been a great help to my husband and I. Very much appreciated!
Water build up under the bottom shelf is cause by a clogged rubber nipple at the condensation drip catch. If it comes back watch the video for leaking water... saved me a ton
Thank you! I made the mistake of going online thinking I was chatting with Samsung and found myself being scammed to pay for the help. Then found your video and within 30 minutes we had fixed the issue! Our fridge looked just like this one - only worse. Now we also know how to take out the trays and how to watch for a loose seal in the future. Thank you!!
Thanks so much! We threw a dinner party and ice got caught behind the drawer causing a snow storm. I cleaned it all out, all before 7 am! Glad to be starting fresh. Loved the dollar bill trick. Thanks again!
I had the same issue. The freezer was not closing properly, noticed a big gap. Did the dollar bill test, and it just pulled right out! After watching your video, it was a tremendous help! Thank you for sharing this with us, you saved me a lot of 💰
You saved me! I have same fridge. You showed me how to take the drawers out and get rid if the ice. This gave me courage to do it. I’m single female living alone. I followed your instructions and it’s all fixed. I even did the dollar seal test. Fabulous. 💕

Good tips! I had frosting problem after a visit by my grandkids and I was ready to blame them for standing on the freezer section. After viewing your video I did the dollar bill test and found a gap on one side. I looked behind the bottom drawer and found a clip we use to seal veggie bags. After removing the clip I did another dollar bill test and the door closed properly. Thanks for saving me from frost and wrongfully accusing my grands.
There’s a problem with these French doors. I just had service out. Blamed door being left open which wasn’t case. Shut power off for three days to defrost. After two days with nothing in drawer, I have frost buildup.
My cleaned out all the frost a week ago,and it came back worse. So I did your dollar test, and one side was at least a quarter inch gapped.Pulled out the top drawer.Turned out there was a frozen meal behind the drawers. My wife hadn't pulled pulled the drawer out,so she didn't know. Now the dollar test worked on both sides.Hopefully tonight it will still be unfrosted. Thanks! You are a life saver.
Thank you! You saved an expensive call! It was something that had fallen behind the lower drawer which was prevent it from shutting all the way. I did the first thing you said and ran my finger on the periphery. Lo and behold, there was a gap on the left side. Tried removing ice, still did not close properly. When I removed the top drawer, I found an ice tray that had fallen behind preventing complete closure on the left side. Removed, cleaned, fixed. Thank you!
Thank you for your video. Awesome! My husband checked the seal & it wasn't tight enough. He corrected the seal issue & our fridge stopped the frost build up.
Thank you so much! Not only did you help us with the freezer frost problem, you also helped me remember where the pole goes in the freezer.. I had my refrigerator in storage for 5 years and I forgot how to put it together and lost the directions. The problem I had with the frost was the seal and the bottom drawer not being lined up right. I really liked the dollar bill trick. Thank you thank you thank you 😊
Homie... My dude... Never heard of the dollar bill test for this kind of issue which is a great *valuable* trick of the trade type thing to know I can use on repairs later involving seals. That tip alone is why I often watch random repair videos, there's always a little piece of gold hidden in every DIY repair video. Thank you.
Thank you! I was going to call a tech until I decided to you tube my issue. After I watched your video and followed your process my problem was solved. Thanks a million!
Thanks so much, my wife is very happy. We were having our son’s high school graduation party and the freezer froze up and she was all stressed out. An hour later after watching you video the ice is gone and the freezer is now super clean. The ice has not built up since. The door was open a bit on one side. Again thanks
Awesome video. LOVE the Dollar Bill check. I ran to my freezer and did this and found a big chunk of ice on one side of the drawer which was preventing it from closing. THANK YOU!!!
I had the same problem and didn't know what was causing it. After watching your video, I checked to see if that was the problem. It was and I fixed the problem in just a few minutes. Thank you so much for posting.
Oh my goodness thank you for this detailed and thoughtful video! I was separating my dogs raw food today and had stored some containers in my pull out freezer drawer and a couple hrs later opened it to grab one to defrost and there was all this ice accumulation I’ve never seen before yet identical to the one you’re working on. Even last night I noticed something odd about the door in just glancing at it but wasn’t sure what it was and because this is my first freezer drawer like the one you’re working on, I have no experience whatsoever. Sure enough a boxed item was just nudged in the very bottom drawer in a way that it prevented the right side drawer from securely closing and it had that same uneven look to the corner compared to the left side. Very helpful, you saved me from what could’ve become a much bigger problem!
I googled what can be making frost and just by your instruction by how to remove the shelves i was able to see that there was a big block of ice that had formed...ok maybe not block but like sheet of ice on the bottom which was preventing the door from closing all the way. Its me a female and my mom lives with me....we were able to do it 🙌🙌🙌, on our own...with your help of course and did not have to call a pricey tech....I feel so empowered !!! Thank you for these videos !!!
Super glad I found your video. Everywhere else just talks about the thermostat and computer board! Your family's negligence is the first thing to check!
Thank you so much. This wasn't the exact solution but it got me there. I checked the seal with the fridge door open and sure enough top and right seal has some space. Top door was off track due to ice but a lil bent. Was able to straighten it out. Cleaned all the ice out. Dried everything off and bam seals fine. Again you're doing such a service to everyone with these videos. I prefer doing what I can on my own then escalating as the issue shows to be worse than expected.
Thank you much . I suspected this at the first but I'm old & dont know things anymore . I just thawed it out so it's working better now . Your way is a lot quicker & actually can save some food if someone old & feeble minded like someone I know forgets to turn it back on . I appreciate your video & all your great help .
This was so helpful! I couldn’t understand why I had such a frost built up until I saw your video. And yes - door wasn’t sealing on the right side. Fixed it - all is good now
TY sooooo much, I found frost on my new Samsung Hub SS fridge...2 minutes into the video...I checked the seal & an extention cord was preventing the drawer from closing the seal all the way...You're the best.!...Fridge only 3 weeks old.
Family member(s) did not close the bottom freezer door all the way; air leaked in causing ice buildup on tracks, so the door did not shut tightly. I did your dollar bill test and sure enough, the dollar slid out smoothly, so I knew it was not sealing as it should. I chipped off the ice on the tracks and large chunks fell out. After that, the door was able to close all the way and no more ice buildup! Thanks for your video---I was ready to call the repairman as I thought the seal had gone bad.
Same issue - frost/snow inside the freezer. Chipped off the ice buildup that prevented the drawer from fully closing and replaced the gasket. Total time to repair - 5 minutes. All good now! Thanks for the video.
Thanks so much. My Samsung freezer was frosting up so badly. I thought that I had accidentally changed a setting, in my effort to do a forced defrost, to fix a problem with ice building up in the ice dispenser area. But after watching the first minute of your video, I got down on my knees and looked under the freezer box and saw that a box of frozen food was stuck in the back. I removed it and expect my problem to be solved.
Thank you for the video - my problem was that one side of the reel was completely off making the door uneven and letting the air in. Even though I didn’t have the problem on your video, it did helped me to identify my problem - which I was able to fix!! Thanks.
Thanks for this, I have a tiny (one shelf) freezer compartment inside my fridge and it was frosting up, was worried it was something wrong with the whole appliance since it had been off while the unit was empty but it's almost certainly just gradual bad seal worsening from when I left the door open a little bit overnight months ago!
Others mention the dollar-bill test but this is the only video I have seen explaining the oxygen infiltration. I realized I probably cause the first ice by leaving the freezer open too long near an open window on record hot days and then the initial ice kept the door from sealing properly. I wiped off the ice (not feeling so confident about chipping it off, even with a butter knife) and the problem resolved itself quickly. Thank you!
Lisette García I misspoke about the “oxygen”. The cause is actually the moisture(humidity) in the air and the warmth that causes the ice build up. Kind of like condensation on a glass of ice water.
TightWadDIY - Gotcha! Thank you for the corrected information. In any case, what you said and how you demonstrated the issue in real time helped me troubleshoot and resolve my problem. Thank you!
Very helpful easy to follow instructions. My husband and I were able to successfully repeat this DIY fix on our side by side bottom freezer compartment fridge. the fridge frosting up issue is fixed. Thank you
This was so helpful, thank you. One thing I would add is to skip the knife and use a blow dryer. There's less chance of damage and you can get in the smallest of cracks or crevices.
Thank you so much for this video. A food item fell behind and caused the frosting. I had turned ot off to melt down but the frosting came back after plugging in. This video is a so on point and helpful
Mine turned out to be a slightly loose screw that holds the track on. Tightened it up and it worked! This video had me looking in the right direction. Thank you!
My problem was exactly what you showed in this video. Oddly enough, I have the same fridge and it was even on the same side as yours. Ice buildup on the track was causing the door not to seal fully. I wish I could post before and after pics.. the first pic shows the door on the right hand side unsealed by atleast half an inch. It's completely sealed now that all the ice is gone.. THANK YOU for saving us A TON of food AND money!!🙏🙏🙏
Thanks. Took out big block of ice in back but frosted next day. Removed thinner layer on freezer floor and in back. Get it all out and check door to be sure it seals properly
Good video. We bought a French door, bottom freezer GE in January, 2023. Had a slight frosting problem in the first week. We were just not closing the bottom correctly. It always pays to give them a gentle push after closing.
This was an excellent video. I only had my refrigerator for 7 days in the frost was unbeaeable in the freezer. I took everything out 3 times in one week. I saw this video and the door was not closing. The rack was installed incorrectly. Thank you for making this video.
Thanks so much we saved ninety nine dollars, just by following your advice my husband had already call for a tec. but I decide to check up on your video and yes that was the problem door not closing!!!! thanks again. have a good day.
Your video convinced me that I should be able to get my drawers out and I did! I also found one of the gears slipped a tooth and so the door was closing crookedly. Thanks to this vid, I was able to get it fixed easily.
On mine, two ball bearings had rolled out of their place on the left track. We used a long screwdriver to slide them back in. Thanks for the video!!! 😀
Just had this same issue. Sure enough, the bottom right side seal had a 3 mm gap easily visible. Cleaning out some of the frost buildup allowed the door to close completely and get a good seal. Thanks!
Thank you for this video... turns out I had no idea there may have been a tiny sheet of ice in the back wall that was keeping the drawer from fully seating - this video helped!
Yes, I tried what you said and I did have ice build up on the tracks. Used a knife to get the ice off and now the seal is much better. Thank you. Thank you !
Thanks you so much for this video! I was scare just was broken and my landlords were busy packing for a trip and couldn’t come down to my apartment right away. This help me realize it was user error in my end cause the freezer shut perfectly! Landlord finally did find down a few minutes later to inspect and confirmed what I knew from this video
Thanks so much! We have what looks like the exact same model as your neighbor! We had only a minute bit of icing on the rail that I was able to scrape off with my thumbnail! I'm a new subscriber! Have a great rest of your weekend! We sure will!
We have a similar problem with a New (3mo. old) Samsung 20cuft. After looking at your video, I think I can solve the problem as you described. That was a Super Job of explaining the problem and the solution. I think I will remove the frost on the tracks and ice bucket drawer and keep our fingers crossed that the 'FIX' is in. 5***** Fix. Thanks!
I just bought a brand new freezer and went through the owners manual looking for answers. I was about to try and get an appointment with GE for a warranty claim. However the dollar test showed we had too much stuff in the bottom drawer and the freezer door wasn't closing properly. I would have been liable for over $100 since it was my mistake. Thank you for the video!!!
Wow! I had so much frost that I was thinking of building a snowman but I didn’t know what to do about it! With a dollar bill and a butter knife, I fixed the issue. Thank you so, so much!
THANK YOU! My mom has been leaving her freezer door open at times now that she's getting a lil older and I've caught it but I was gone for a week and this happened. I'll try this in the am ❤
Thank you for the video. I thought I had a huge repair problem. Turns out the the freezer was not closed properly and the ice buildup kept the freezer from closing. I removed the ice from the back of the freezer and under the drawer. The drawer closed and sealed properly immediately
This was brilliant. It fixed our issue. I'm Canadian so it was the 5 dollar test since our 1 and 2 dollars are coins! The bill came out way too easily and there was a big chunk of ice in the corner.
Just checked the seal and it had become dislodged somehow, pushed it back in place firmly and hopeful it will fix it. The fridge door didn't close properly a few weeks back and I think ice became lodged behind it causing it to come away. Cheers mate.
Loved your video. My freezer was frosting up badly so I went to TH-cam and had the problem solved (door not sealing) before my husband got out of bed. Thanks for your tip!
Thanks for this great video. So easy to follow. I have been having this problem for a couple of years so I have been defrosting every couple of months. Just defrosted 2 days ago so there was no issue with ice. A have very little in my freezer - so I didn't find any obstructions. The dollar bill didn't detect any problems with the gasket. No what? Anymore ideas?
@@TightWadDIY I really appreciate your replying. I have checked the seals which seems to be OK.. I will check the defrost heater circuit if its works. A freind suggested it maybe low refrigerant.. But I doubt that..

Thank you so much for this video. A food item fell behind and caused the frosting. I had turned ot off to melt down but the frosting came back after plugging in. This video is a so on point and helpful
Abena Y You are welcome. I’m glad you were able to figure it out. Hopefully you didn’t lose any food.
Mine turned out to be a slightly loose screw that holds the track on. Tightened it up and it worked! This video had me looking in the right direction. Thank you!
That’s great that it was a simple fix.
Thank you so much! You saved us $150.00 for a service call. Did exactly what you showed and 💥 all fixed.
That’s great! I’m glad the video how to get it all fixed up.
I’m defrosting mine as I watch this and I believe this was my problem also. Garage fridge but still will help a bunch. Thanks for the advice.
My pleasure.
I am no refrigerator technician, but your video confirmed a problem we too were having.
I’m glad it helped you out!
I’m glad it worked for you too! I love it when people save money! Be sure to subscribe! I have over 200 videos now.
Thanks. Took out big block of ice in back but frosted next day. Removed thinner layer on freezer floor and in back. Get it all out and check door to be sure it seals properly
Thank you sir. I was having this issue but not as bad shown here. I pulled the bottom out and there were ice cube lodged behind the tray.
Great! I’m glad you discovered your issue!
Thank you! my fridge door was not closing correctly, I just moved a few things around and cleaned the seal. No more frosting or high freezer temp.
That’s great! I’m glad it was an easy fix!
I have the exact same fridge and there was ice buildup in the EXACT same spot, then I knew I found the right video. Thanks!
Forest Novak I’m glad you found the video. Is yours all fixed up now?
Me, too. Exact same model.
Good video. We bought a French door, bottom freezer GE in January, 2023. Had a slight frosting problem in the first week. We were just not closing the bottom correctly. It always pays to give them a gentle push after closing.
Yes!
This was an excellent video. I only had my refrigerator for 7 days in the frost was unbeaeable in the freezer. I took everything out 3 times in one week. I saw this video and the door was not closing. The rack was installed incorrectly. Thank you for making this video.
Great! I’m glad you got it fixed!
Thanks so much we saved ninety nine dollars, just by following your advice my husband had already call for a tec. but I decide to check up on your video and yes that was the problem door not closing!!!! thanks again. have a good day.
That’s great news!

That’s great! I’m glad you found it helpful!
Your video convinced me that I should be able to get my drawers out and I did! I also found one of the gears slipped a tooth and so the door was closing crookedly. Thanks to this vid, I was able to get it fixed easily.
Dave Collins That’s awesome! I’m glad you were able to get it fixed.
Thanks for the great information. Keep playing it forward and you will be blessed
Thank you, I will
Finally, a guy who made sense. Thanks
Haha. I’m glad you found it helpful!
On mine, two ball bearings had rolled out of their place on the left track. We used a long screwdriver to slide them back in. Thanks for the video!!! 😀
Great! I’m glad it worked for you too!
Just had this same issue. Sure enough, the bottom right side seal had a 3 mm gap easily visible. Cleaning out some of the frost buildup allowed the door to close completely and get a good seal. Thanks!
DC Seward Thata great! I’m glad you got it fixed!
We always get ice build bottom freezer drawer we have to remove chunks of ice. And door seal is perfectly sealed
You may have another issue. Check to make sure the fan is working.
Thank you for this video... turns out I had no idea there may have been a tiny sheet of ice in the back wall that was keeping the drawer from fully seating - this video helped!
Yes! It only takes a little to start the issue!
Yes, I tried what you said and I did have ice build up on the tracks. Used a knife to get the ice off and now the seal is much better. Thank you. Thank you !
Carol Garcia That’s great! I’m glad you were able to get it fixed.
Thank you for this great video; I had the same issues and you saved me an expensive house call. I appreciate you.
You're welcome!
That’s great! I’m glad it’s fixed!
Thanks so much! We have what looks like the exact same model as your neighbor! We had only a minute bit of icing on the rail that I was able to scrape off with my thumbnail! I'm a new subscriber! Have a great rest of your weekend! We sure will!
Great! I’m glad it worked for you too!
Awsome that you took your time to make this video while tending to a real problem! Thanks bud! Saved me some cash wit the easy DIY!
Great! I’m glad it worked for you too! You’re welcome.
Thank you - this was so helpful - I have the same freezer and issue! Love learning how to repair things myself!
I’m glad you found the video. Now that you know what causes it it’ll never happen to you again.
5***** Fix. Thanks!
You are welcome. Thanks for the comment.
I’m glad you discovered the issue!
Thank you good sir! Ur a gentleman and a scholar. Saved me from calling a repairman.
Elsancho 1 Haha. Thanks. I’m glad you were able to fix your issue. What was wrong wit h yours?
TightWadDIY ice build up in the door.
Wow! I had so much frost that I was thinking of building a snowman but I didn’t know what to do about it! With a dollar bill and a butter knife, I fixed the issue. Thank you so, so much!
Kimberley B That’s great! I’m glad you were able to get yours fixed.
THANK YOU! My mom has been leaving her freezer door open at times now that she's getting a lil older and I've caught it but I was gone for a week and this happened. I'll try this in the am ❤
Hope it works.
Thanks, you saved us. And you are strong!!! Impressive.
You are welcome. I’m glad it worked for you too!
Thank you for the video. I thought I had a huge repair problem. Turns out the the freezer was not closed properly and the ice buildup kept the freezer from closing. I removed the ice from the back of the freezer and under the drawer. The drawer closed and sealed properly immediately
J Keeton That great! I’m glad you found your issue.
Thank You for Your Help in discovering what might be an issue for My Problem ! Appreciate Learning !😊
You are most welcome
Just watched the video
Fixed the freezer in 20 minutes
Thanks
Great! I’m glad it worked for you too!
This was brilliant. It fixed our issue. I'm Canadian so it was the 5 dollar test since our 1 and 2 dollars are coins! The bill came out way too easily and there was a big chunk of ice in the corner.
That’s great! I’m glad it worked for you too. I will add to my notes that a Canadian $5 bill works well also. Ha ha.
Just checked the seal and it had become dislodged somehow, pushed it back in place firmly and hopeful it will fix it. The fridge door didn't close properly a few weeks back and I think ice became lodged behind it causing it to come away. Cheers mate.
Equalizing Force I’m glad you were able to identify the issue. Hopefully that’s a permanent fix!
Loved your video. My freezer was frosting up badly so I went to TH-cam and had the problem solved (door not sealing) before my husband got out of bed. Thanks for your tip!

Very helpful. Now I need to stop water leaking. Thank you for making this video
My pleasure.
Are you sure nothing is behind the drawer?
👍👍👍 I like the tool you were using to test the freezer door. 😄
Haha. It’s a handy one to have around!
Thank You 🙏🏽 been adjusting the temp and nothing until I TH-camd and found your video. 😎 👍🏽 👍🏽
That’s great! I’m glad you found my video!

Nice info..
I will check the sealing No frost "Frosting" Freezer.. Thanks for the info..
I hope you can discover and fix the issue.
@@TightWadDIY I really appreciate your replying. I have checked the seals which seems to be OK..
I will check the defrost heater circuit if its works.
A freind suggested it maybe low refrigerant.. But I doubt that..
