Yes I bought a pair of PX7 S2 a few months ago and I've been delighted with them. But after watching your review I feel a bit pissed off that B&W have now brought out a superior version for the same money. The possibility of a firmware upgrade sounds interesting. But would B&W let people buy the S2s at the reduced price then "give them" a S2e upgrade for free? I think I'll write to B&W to express my annoyance 😉

I own the regular Bose QuietComfort as well as the B&W Px7 S2e headphones and both have their pros and cons. Bose just nails it with comfort and ANC, whereas B&W clearly has the better build quality, superior sound, with one major advantage being that they have an in-built DAC that allows them to be connected via USB-C for audio output. The Bluetooth audio quality is already very good, but connecting them via USB-C takes audio to another level. Some might argue that using BT headphones in wired mode somehow defeats the purpose, but for my use case (video work + editing), this feature is just perfect. The clamping force is a bit tighter than with the Boses, so for extended hearing sessions or meetings at work I prefer the Boses over the B&Ws. If you are looking for excellent sound and premium design though, go for the B&Ws for sure!
How about it’s active noise cancelling and call quality? Did you compare it xm4? I get it, the sound quality is better but how about the other attributes?
When u say airpods are u talking about airpods pro 2 or airpods max? Beacuse I don't think they sound as good as a pair of airpods max. They are truly amazing still after a few years. To bad they are to heavy for daily use.
Anyone saying sony headphones are top notch should be ashamed. Even beats are preferred then Sony. The xm5 are sonys best. But in that price range you should just get the airpod max. The xm3 and xm4 are trash btw. I've tried most mainstream headphones but I'm currently interested in the Shure aonic 50 gen 2, the px7 s2e and the hifiman xs. Hopefully by the end of next year I'll own all 3
noise cancelling is fine and call quality i didnt try. I compared them to xm5s… no contest. I am not a fan of sony sound. Only their noise cancelling is better

I hope the build quality is better on these than on the S2’s, Some horror stories out there about the headband padding and ear cushions peeling off due to poor adhesive, That aside Bowers and Wilkins sound quality for me cant be beaten and i love my PX8’s, Great review
I dont know i’ve not tried them, My PX8’s are long gone now also as the headband leather came off and whilst in warranty, B&W refused to help so i got some Focal Bathys and they really do wipe the floor with anything B&W can muster up, If you look at other reviews on youtube they show how B&W headphones are just overpriced consumer headphones with good marketing, I fell for it, Dont you do the same

I purchased a PX7 S2 in Aug 2023 and am disappointed that B&W decided to rehash a S2e version soon after. If it is purely a firmware update, it has to be accessible for all customers who own S2. Otherwise, the company is doing us a disservice. Thanks for asking the question for us - great video!
I can second this, I currently have both in my hand right now and there's literally no difference between the the S2 and S2e in sound quality, anc and transparancy mode. The only thing I noticed was the S2e connected a little quicker to my device.
Same here, I bought the S2 not long before the S2e came out. As I understand it, the e has a different/ new chip so a firmware upgrade probably won't balance out the difference. Sound preference is very personal though,and we may not even like the 'new' sound.
My minor contribution to the debate I was able to test the B&W PX7 S2, the Sennheiser Momentum 4 and the B&W PX7 S2e, To start with the B&W PX7 S2, good build quality. Neutral reproduction, precise soundstage, but all a little congested. Then the Momentum 4, deep bass, but it makes mush in the mids as soon as there are a lot of elements. Not a huge fan of touch controls but I must admit that it works well. Deplorable manufacturing quality however (all plastic). I even ordered it twice to really make sure it didn't work with me :-) Then the B&W PX7 S2e: like the B&W PX7 S2 but with an opening of the soundstage. It's perfect, i kept it ! I could have had even better with the PX8 but it's out of the budget...
Thanks to your reviews I was swayed to these headphones. Spent a few hours listening to a number of headphones in store at John Lewis listening to a few of those in your line ups. Your reviews were spot on! Breath Again added to play list as were these bins in Ocean Blue!!

Update: I originally had the Momentum 4's but after testing the PX7 S2e I had to return the M4's. Better build quality, sound, comfort ++ on the PX7 S2e, but the M4's were also great.
My AirPods Max stopped connecting after two years. I just ordered the PX7S2e headphones. I hope they last longer and provide better sound. They seem like they might be better

I own Sony Xm3 from 4 over years now, and they works great, without a problem, earcups are still in decent condition and battery is as new I bought PX7S2e from 3 months, are beautiful, good voice call quality, fantastic soubd(but almost the same of Sony, a little bit more dinamico ad detail, but a little bit harsh on treble) Anyway, after 3 months, left ear is gone...it stopped to work.. I can't believe it.. I used them always in house, just one hour at the day, in bed. Treated with gloves, as new... Never bumped, never urted, nothing of nothing, used as I touch a precious diamond... And they broke without a reason.. I'm very angry.. I read some others users with similar problem with same model or with Px8 o previously S2... Fortunately Amazon will refund me.. I don't think I will bought them again.. I like it, but I have fear to going in the same issue again.. Ps: Sony comfort it's way better

I liked B&w but in some aspect are not convincing.. Comfort Sony are way better, sound-yes S2e are a bit better, but more than better I say different.. Less body in low.. More spark on treble, a little bit more soundstage.. About the issue, you're right, but there are many users angry with B&w for the same issue or for the low lasting of earcup/headband (leather gone or broke after less then 1 year) So, maybe I was unlucky, but you can understand why now I have fear to bought it another one
I found my PX7 are pretty poor long term as far as build quality. The cups covers just keep getting undone and the on/off button is wonky. I expect better from this brand.
The wired headphones from them i bought fell apart in no time compared to the Bang & Olufsen ones i bought! The Apple Max headphones are crap with built in obsolescence after a year through a digital certificate.
When B&W announced this i honestly thought it was their attempt at an economy product. Which in my opinion would put me off buying from Bowers & Wilkin. Thankfully its an ungrade although on an older set. But it gives skme privilege for me owning a set of PX8.

Today, I met a girl with Px7 S2 at the HiFi and HiEnd show Moscow. She has been using them for a long time and says that nothing has broken or deteriorated.
Just went to test out px7 s2 & px8. Wow~~~~~ I can hear the diff! Px8 has more clarity and wider sound stage . It sound cleaner than px7 s2. However, the price for Px8 is a killer lol. I will be testing the px7 s2e tmrw after watching this video. Lol

I am struggling with Bose qc ultra, wh1000xm5, B&W px7s2e, and Airpodsmax since I am an Apple user. Which is the best regardless of sound quality. I just wanna have a headphone with good ANC and transparency mode.
The b&w has better sound quality but for me the xm5 is better on/over my ears. I bought the px7 S2 and pain on my ears. Xm5 ears are bigger. Comfort is also important.
Hey Mark, i am thinking of buying the S7 or 7e. But not sure wich one to get. From your Videos i understand that there is gonna come a software update for the S7 which will make them sound like the S7e. Did this already happen or do you have any new information about that?
have tried the S2 and M5 and momentum 4 that are in are similar price bracket if you get look out of online deals. my findings pros and cons: S2 look fab build and finish and fit A1, but bass and volume is really lacking on these and clamp force on my head was too much after an hour, M5: very comfortable and ANC was miles better than other 2, but look too plastic and sound was too muddy nothing standing out, M4: Sound was the best easily with amazing bass and sound stage and clarity and 60 hours battery, cons rubbish touch controls but I think new firmware in august has fixed a few issues. Momentum 4s punch well above their price only focal bathys are better. cheap cynical moved by b&w though just selling same product with a firmware update!
I own all three of them as well but didnt find the con of s2 lacking in bass, it isn`t on the level with momentum 4 but it is there and the volume I could partly agree with, but it isnt on a bothering level for me since I can still listen to a high volume. Having more bass doesn´t make better sound quality, especially when other important elements such mid-range is low, which I experienced with momentum 4.

@@dexman6176momentum 4 have a recessed mid range. S2 seams to lack bass cabebility no matter what compared to mx4. I've both in my house atm and will be choosing one.
I bought the px7 s2e and the xm5. The xm5 will be going back, sound quality wise the px7 s2e is the clear winner, anc wise Sony is good but it’s not a night and day difference between the two headphones
I bought the px7 s2; the sound quality is very good. But I occasionally had pain on my ears, while I don't have that with my xm5 Sony. Yet another problem I had; I wanted to charge it a second time and the device is already broken. Don't want to charge after 3-4 days lol. Sent it back and asked for a refund.
Here is what i did. I tested the s2 , s2e and the Px8 side by side twice (on different days) for about one hour each. After a another day of good consideration I decided to go with the Px7 S2 (no E and no 8) for 179 euro. Loving it.
See I can totally understand that, as sound preference is very personal. There is no right or wrong in taste. I chose the S2 over the XM5000 and the Momentum 4. Both have 'better' NC than the S2 in my opinion, but the sound of the latter was more important to me.
So, I´ve been looking at the Airpods Max, B&W PX7se and the Momentum 4. Cant decide which way to go. Which ones do you prefer in matter of Sound, transparency and fit? I am an Apple User and love the convience of the Airpods Pro. I listened to the PX7 yesterday at the local HiFi-shop, they sounded really good, but can the ANC and transperency keep up with the other two?

I had both px7 s2 and px8 but hated the px8 and eventually returned both so I could buy px7 s2 again after a year or so. Would you say to just pick up px7 s2 if I loved this type of sound over px8? (Px7 s2, yes in someways they sounded hollow, must be mids indeed as ihad to turn em up quite a bit for immersion, probably going to spike up my tinnitus symptoms again but I dnt mind right now since they're £199 currently)
Bought a PX7 s2 from the Bowers site and just received it yesterday. It wont charge past 48% . After doing some research, it look like this is a common issue for B&W headphones. Disappointed because I like it's sound signature.
Fantastic noise canceling with px7s2 ? Woaw. It was its biggest flaw ! In a trainstation hall, I could still hear half the sound produced around me, and clearly some precise frequencies. Never heard that on the Momentum 4 or Sony Wh-1000xm4. Hard to take the review in consideration after this strange statement.
Is it buggy on PX7 S2e? What are the issues that you encountered on PX7 s2e? I have PX7. Its buggy but I like the sound signature. Now I dont have sound on left side which is a common problem for this model PX7.
I like the Px7 quite well, but not in combination with an iPhone, as I didn’t find a useful equalizer app in the App Store. The equalizer of the B&W app is simply not enough. For my taste, the Px7 only sound really good when you lower the frequencies between 125 -250 Hz. The bass sounds much cleaner. The poweramp equalizer app for Android works perfectly.
I have owned the P7 (wired) since their release so decided to buy the PX7 2Se for £299 from John Lewis, so obviously using Bluetooth they're not as good as the P7's, i tried the USB to USB and i am very disappointed they just dont go loud enough same with USB to 3.5, i use Tidal for streaming. Also if using either of the two cables the B&W app doesnt work 🤷
I watch loads of videos, stating how premium the build quality is on bowers and wilkins products, then I see the comment section, where customers tell you how quickly they fall to pieces.
Pxs2 suck, going on my second pair, first pair lasted 5 months then started having connection issues and also now having the same issue with my second pair not even a month later. Have tried factory resets, up to date firmware, different phones and both failed me. Will probably go with sennheiser momentum. They sound great but do not last.
The XM5 just look so cheap and are upon examination very cheaply built . Sony abandoned the unrivaled fit of the XM3 XM4 Which is better than any headphones in my collection . I feel like a peasant wearing the XM5s And Sony Felt It A Good Thing To Up The Price By $50.00 . I Returned 2 Pairs Of XM5s Months Apart Trying To See The Value In Them And Other Than The ANC Their Is No Value I Could Find In The XM5s . My SoundCore Q35 & Q45 Have Better Sound Quality And Look Much Nicer Especially The Q45 .

the only thing Bose has over B&W is better Noise cancellation, but the B&W PX7 S2 and S2e blow them out of the water in terms of sound quality.

Had mine for a few years and they are still as good as new, and I use them everyday to work at home.
Have had the PX7 for 3,5 years and I am already on my 2nd pair after the cup covers came off. Hope the second pair lasts longer than the first

What about the poor headband? Mine is completely gone and can’t be replaced. Poor for such an expensive headphones.
Yup! My original PX7 dropped on the floor from pocket height to the floor and that was it. The ear cup holder broke. Damn!

When B&W announced this i honestly thought it was their attempt at an economy product. Which in my opinion would put me off buying from Bowers & Wilkin. Thankfully its an ungrade although on an older set. But it gives skme privilege for me owning a set of PX8.
Lol that's why I don't like the new Sennheiser Momentum 4 Accentum, I'm just not fond of big brands making economy products
Do note that my pair of these headphones started to un-tuck the leather from the headband with normal use after about 6 months, not impressed.
Did you do the sound comparison tests wired or wireless?
Note though that the price for the S2's has been reduced dramatically, from over 400 to just 250.

I am looking to buy a pair of noise cancelling headphones and I was hoping to get a pair of PX7 S2e but recently I have heard that B&W PX7 S2 and PX8 have defect on headband quality, it seems like they are getting torn which concerned me. I wanted to know what is your opinion about the B&W headband quality? Has anyone here had a same issue? Or heard about it?
Today, I met a girl with Px7 S2 at the HiFi and HiEnd show Moscow. She has been using them for a long time and says that nothing has broken or deteriorated.

Just went to test out px7 s2 & px8. Wow~~~~~ I can hear the diff! Px8 has more clarity and wider sound stage . It sound cleaner than px7 s2. However, the price for Px8 is a killer lol. I will be testing the px7 s2e tmrw after watching this video. Lol

The b&w has better sound quality but for me the xm5 is better on/over my ears. I bought the px7 S2 and pain on my ears. Xm5 ears are bigger. Comfort is also important.

You're right, I also noticed that flaw.
have tried the S2 and M5 and momentum 4 that are in are similar price bracket if you get look out of online deals. my findings pros and cons: S2 look fab build and finish and fit A1, but bass and volume is really lacking on these and clamp force on my head was too much after an hour, M5: very comfortable and ANC was miles better than other 2, but look too plastic and sound was too muddy nothing standing out, M4: Sound was the best easily with amazing bass and sound stage and clarity and 60 hours battery, cons rubbish touch controls but I think new firmware in august has fixed a few issues. Momentum 4s punch well above their price only focal bathys are better. cheap cynical moved by b&w though just selling same product with a firmware update!
I get ear pressure that makes me feel weird.. any of those 3 give you ear pressure?

I own all three of them as well but didnt find the con of s2 lacking in bass, it isn`t on the level with momentum 4 but it is there and the volume I could partly agree with, but it isnt on a bothering level for me since I can still listen to a high volume.
Having more bass doesn´t make better sound quality, especially when other important elements such mid-range is low, which I experienced with momentum 4.
@@dexman6176 i traded my m4s in for the xm5 by sony due to low max volume. kind of upset now though, as the sound quality isnt as good at all in the xm5s. im looking for the best sound quality now . im debating the m4s again or the px7 s2es. right now theres a sale on the m4s 360 cad.
@@dexman6176momentum 4 have a recessed mid range. S2 seams to lack bass cabebility no matter what compared to mx4. I've both in my house atm and will be choosing one.

I bought the px7 s2e and the xm5. The xm5 will be going back, sound quality wise the px7 s2e is the clear winner, anc wise Sony is good but it’s not a night and day difference between the two headphones
I bought the px7 s2; the sound quality is very good. But I occasionally had pain on my ears, while I don't have that with my xm5 Sony.
Yet another problem I had; I wanted to charge it a second time and the device is already broken. Don't want to charge after 3-4 days lol. Sent it back and asked for a refund.

I tested the s2 , s2e and the Px8 side by side twice (on different days) for about one hour each.
After a another day of good consideration I decided to go with the
Px7 S2 (no E and no 8) for 179 euro.
Loving it.

I chose the S2 over the XM5000 and the Momentum 4. Both have 'better' NC than the S2 in my opinion, but the sound of the latter was more important to me.
I bought the px7 s2; the sound quality is very good.
So, I´ve been looking at the Airpods Max, B&W PX7se and the Momentum 4. Cant decide which way to go. Which ones do you prefer in matter of Sound, transparency and fit? I am an Apple User and love the convience of the Airpods Pro. I listened to the PX7 yesterday at the local HiFi-shop, they sounded really good, but can the ANC and transperency keep up with the other two?

I had both px7 s2 and px8 but hated the px8 and eventually returned both so I could buy px7 s2 again after a year or so. Would you say to just pick up px7 s2 if I loved this type of sound over px8?
(Px7 s2, yes in someways they sounded hollow, must be mids indeed as ihad to turn em up quite a bit for immersion, probably going to spike up my tinnitus symptoms again but I dnt mind right now since they're £199 currently)

Bought a PX7 s2 from the Bowers site and just received it yesterday. It wont charge past 48% . After doing some research, it look like this is a common issue for B&W headphones. Disappointed because I like it's sound signature.

Fantastic noise canceling with px7s2 ? Woaw. It was its biggest flaw ! In a trainstation hall, I could still hear half the sound produced around me, and clearly some precise frequencies. Never heard that on the Momentum 4 or Sony Wh-1000xm4. Hard to take the review in consideration after this strange statement.
Don´t know if I can take your comment into consideration if you think Momentum 4 has great noice canceling.

I have PX7. Its buggy but I like the sound signature. Now I dont have sound on left side which is a common problem for this model PX7.
Did you try the wired performance? Would be interested to know if they have a bump up in clarity.

I like the Px7 quite well, but not in combination with an iPhone, as I didn’t find a useful equalizer app in the App Store. The equalizer of the B&W app is simply not enough. For my taste, the Px7 only sound really good when you lower the frequencies between 125 -250 Hz. The bass sounds much cleaner. The poweramp equalizer app for Android works perfectly.

I have owned the P7 (wired) since their release so decided to buy the PX7 2Se for £299 from John Lewis, so obviously using Bluetooth they're not as good as the P7's, i tried the USB to USB and i am very disappointed they just dont go loud enough same with USB to 3.5, i use Tidal for streaming. Also if using either of the two cables the B&W app doesnt work 🤷

I watch loads of videos, stating how premium the build quality is on bowers and wilkins products, then I see the comment section, where customers tell you how quickly they fall to pieces.
Pxs2 suck, going on my second pair, first pair lasted 5 months then started having connection issues and also now having the same issue with my second pair not even a month later. Have tried factory resets, up to date firmware, different phones and both failed me. Will probably go with sennheiser momentum. They sound great but do not last.

The s2e are marginally better, I had both and returned the px7 s2e. They aren’t £130 better than the s2.
The DSP is upgraded on the S2e so it's not entirely firmware...
