As a longtime, hardcore Santana fan of about 50 years, I think his 1992-1993 era is his best. Great band, great song arrangements. I highly recommend "Live in South America" as one of his absolute best live offerings. The energy is incredible.
Santana is one of the greats! Many non -Latino people would never have heard Latin music if he hadn't created the Latin/rock fusion sound that is Santana. A true innovator and fantastic guitarist.

Excellent . Great singer. With excellent lead guitarist Carlos Santana . This is great music. Three guitars on stage. With a base. Then we have the drummer and bongos . Then the key board . Put this all together and you have top musicians . Some band members stayed and some left. Yet, the band continued . Amazing. The concerts always ( SELL OUT ) . The amazing thing is memorizing all these songs. All the musicians know their key part to make this ( TOP MUSIC ) and sell out concerts.
Fui con 4 amigos a éste recital en el Parque Intercomunal de Santiago. Mistico y magistral, eso puedo describir de esa hermosa noche de diciembre del 92. Ha sido el único recital en ese parque.
Tuve la oportunidad de estar en ese concierto, el primero de Santana en Chile, viajé desde Temuco para poder disfrutar del gran ambiente que se vive en los conciertos de Santana, sencilamente espectacular.

Never saw anyone like me of a different color and culture until I saw Carlos at the Orpheum in Boston in 79. I was a long gone dead head by then and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I believe they were at their very best in the early '90's. I love this particular group of musicians , especially Armando Peraza and Chester Thompson. This might have been the same tour as their Sacred Fire CD. And that is one of my all-time favorite concert videos. I still watch that whole concert all the way through at least once a year.
agree 100% although commercially they were in the doldrums here, for me this line up ,and as you rightly say Sacred Fire captures the very essence of Santana. Happy that Supernatural propelled him up the charts again but Sacred Fire and the first 5 or 6 albums do it for me .Seen them over 20 times and never disappointed.

I remember 1970, Santana was going to play at Machu Pichu, Cuzco Peru. I was ready with my Santana tshirt. But the concert was canceled for the military government in those years.
