Hello. It's my last year in high school. I am torn between medicine and genetic engineering.I don't know which option is best for me. I can study medicine, I am not worried about medicine. But I don't know much about genetic engineering. I don't know if Genetic engineering is for me or not

@@emilyelliott864 I've absolutely loved UW Madison so far. The atmosphere is so great and there is always something to do. If you're in state, getting in isn't super hard just make sure you have a variety of extracurriculars along with decent grades. If you do get in, any of the southeast dorms are great places to live because they are in a central location to the whole campus. Also take your placement tests as soon as you can so you'll be better prepared when its time to sign up for classes.

      Hey Hannah!
      1. Which grade are you in right now?
      2. And what exactly do you want to be as a geneticist, I mean are you going to become a genetic scientist and do research on genetics?
3.How exactly are planning to be one I.e. which undergraduate university you're going to go then where are going to do your masters, etc?

    • @huh8b7b27
      @huh8b7b27 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

@Hannah Rindner yea I'm minding my own business and my business is with you.
Why am I asking you this?
Because I'm in the same boat as you, I've completed 12th grade/graduated high school and now I'm looking for further education for my career and I want to be a genetic scientist.
And for that, now I'm researching how do I become one, i.e. which degree I need, which college has that degree and which one actually is good at it and not just a gimmick.
The thing is that this is a niche, so there's already little to no information available outside and those career guidance firms have very surface level information or you could say, useless information.
The only actual way to know which academic path to take is by getting in touch with already established genetic scientists, but again since there aren't many it becomes tough.
And obviously I'm not the only person in the world who wants to go in this field , there are others with me as well, so getting any knowledge from them would help out a lot.
Right now, I'm lost in a maze, I know where i want to go, but just don't know how to get there, it's suffocating.
And so the only solution is to get in contact with the people who are in this field so that they can guide me.
So I asked you those questions before in hopes that you might know something that I don't or something more than what I know. I.e. you might've figured it out, the path to take or at least what you're going to do(i.e. which path you're going to take), which would help me in deciding my own path.
But since you mentioned "school" at the end, there might be a chance that you are just passionate about it and not really serious, i.e you might change your mind once you graduate high school.
But you took it in a negative way and replied with hostility.
      : '(
I apologize if i was mean or anything.

The motivation is what I like to see! I’ve really been at a loss for motivation these past weeks as a first year undergrad in Anatomy and Cell Biology. I did not anticipate such levels of resentment toward a program that was supposed to bring me a breadth of knowledge in the field. I was glad that I understood some of the procedures you went through, but I can never see myself enjoying this as a job. I may not be cut out? I may just be in a funk? I don’t know, but I’m looking up to your motivation to see if I have any of it in myself.
I just found you while looking up some interesting genetics videos. You’re doing great, fellow scientist!

I agree it's very annoying when she speaks like that but unfortunately many youtubers do it nowadays. Try listening Kylie Jenner talking and you will see it can get much worse. They do it to sound cool. It's a vanity thing. But this girl overall speaks normally. She uses that voice only a couple of times.
