The train from Glasgow to Edinburgh is about 75 minutes. It’s 67km. The train from Dublin to Sligo usually takes 190 minutes. It’s 180km. Almost 3 times as far.
@@Goggsy99 Max train speed in Scotland is 125mph. Max train speed in Ireland is 200kmh which equates to 125mph. But reaching max speeds is rare. Average speed between Glasgow and Edinburgh is 51mph. Average between Dublin and Sligo is 45mph. All the stops require a long time to speed up and slow down so it can take forever to get places. That’s why you can drive from Glasgow to Edinburgh in less than hour and Dublin to Sligo in 2.5 hours. No stops. Basically both our rail networks are bang average and miles behind the likes of France and Japan. F&ck me. I’ve turned into a train spotter ☹️

I was at the game and was shocked at how bad Motherwell were, I was expecting an onslaught but it never came. I was looking through the programme at your squad and there didn't seem much quality there. Van Veen up front was like a statue. You were a bit slicker on set pieces but it was underwhelming overall. We were nearly half way into our season which is a massive advantage and we got a bit lucky with the off side goal. If that had been allowed nerves could have set in.great video, thanks for acknowledging Sligo's joy. Hope your league season is a success and you get another crack at Europe
Yeah. Halfway through a mediocre season. The coach was sacked in May and first choice keeper left days before the first leg and we lost to UCD at the weekend. Motherwell have no excuse.
Fair play for going down, league of Ireland deserves a lot more respect from rest of Scotland/England. May not be the greatest but its improving a lot down the years pats beating Mura and Shamrock Rovers beating Ludogorets good examples. Motherwell looked very poor might be a long season ahead see what happens
Yous can definitely play better than what ye did, but the disrespect from alot of Motherwell fans and Scottish media towards our league was awful to see. Got beaten by the better team in the two games. However best of luck in the new season and with your new manager whenever they are appointed.

think its fair to look at Liam scales and Jamie mcgrath as example of standard of irish league. both regular starters at top loi teams. scales couldn't cut it with celtic but starter for Aberdeen. Jamie mcgrath was not dundalks star player but was st mirrens.
As a Hearts fan first time seeing yous play other than against us and well... over both legs I couldn't see yous scoring, no quality going forward, no doubt that will change against us though! 😂

And if you want to talk facts, your entire league is dependent on the old firm, every team needs them for TV deal money, remove them and yeah lad the margins between both our leagues is minimal
What an embarrassment for Scottish football. When you are outclassed by Sligo, it can’t get much worse. First and second in Scotland should be the only teams to qualify for Europe. The rest don’t deserve it.

I could not fathom how Motherwell and the Scottish media thought Motherwell would walk all over Slilgo. There is marginal difference in the two leagues. Probably a bit more professional in Scotland but marginal at best. We here in Ireland can watch the Scottish league on various channnels but most people in Scotland have never seen a league of Ireland game and would be hard pressed to name any of the teams.

The top teams in Ireland would handle the Motherwellls and Livingstones of this world. I bet you have never seen an Irish league game. I have attended both. Of the four Irish teams in Europe this year 3 of them have reached the third round of the European Conference. They probably will not go further except for a good draw, but still.

Since 2012 there have been 5 winners of the league here. If I put a tenner on the Scottish league winners in 2032, with 2 choices I would be on a winner. Of the 4 teams from Ireland who played in Europe this year 3 of them have got to the third round. Would you fancy of the Livingstons or St. Mirrens do that. Then Scottish numpties saying we are a Highland league and part timers and minnows. Most people in Ireland knew Sligo were on a winner against Motherwell before a ball was kicked. Sligo, and fair play to them, are not Champions in the making here.

Here in Dublin we call the Scottish premiership the Proclaimers league. An absolute disaster of a league. Every league has it's own standard. The question for the partisan supporter is how competitive is it. Over the last 10 years 5 different clubs have won the league here.
could have been worse for motherwell if sligo hadn't sold Johnny Kenny to celtic and also lost John Mahon this summer. only have to look at Liam scales and Jamie mcgrath as recent examples of players coming from what u say is Highland league to be more than up to standard to play in Scottish Premiership. saw example of colts beating sligo a few year back in in Bru Cup but irish teams didn't take that serious and also it was only teams finished outside of Europe places that were allowed enter the in bru. irish league deserves alot more respect. u should watch a game before slagging it off. would love to see a soccer version of the celtic league in years to come. congrats motherwell in opening day win in league season and best of luck this year

It does help I suppose being half way through the league fixtures. So they will be much more switched on. But you should be beating teams like Sligo.
