Been taking azathioprine 50mg taken twice daily for over 3 years now, and was just diagnosed via a colonoscopy, pockets in the colon walls, did biopsy and cancer was negative. No family history of this, and I believe azathioprine was the corporate. Just today my liver doctor reduced it to 25mg once daily. I am thinking azathioprine cannot be taken long term especially in high mg dosis.

Does azathioprine affect the acitivity of the HPA axis (cortisol levels, DHEA levels), sympathetic-adrenal-medullary system, heart activity (e.g. heart rate variability)?
