  • You must be asking yourself - Is there any specific offroad gear or tools I should carry in my 4x4? Well, speaking of offroading, 4-wheeling, 4x4-ing, overlanding (whatever you want to call it), there are some pieces of basic recovery gear, tools, accessories, or items that you need to bring with you.
    In this short video, we cover the top 10 must-have things that you need to get before hitting the trail. Of course, the list of nice-to-have offroad equipment could be endless, but there are a few that are truly essential. And we are not talking about some expensive modifications or tuning on your vehicle. In fact, almost all of these items are fairly cheap but their help is invaluable.
    So here is what I believe you should have (and what I also always carry with me at the back of my Jimny): some decent all-terrain tires, same size spare tire, a shovel, an axe, an appropriate jack, snatch strap (or thick rope), a couple of shackles, some aftermarket recovery points, a basic tool kit, and an air compressor. I’ve also thrown several bonus/nice-to-have items too.
    JUMP to a specific section of the video:
    00:00 - Introduction
    00:40 - #1 A/T or M/T Tires
    01:16 - #2 Spare Tire
    01:38 - #3 Shovel
    02:03 - #4 An Axe
    02:26 - #5 The Jack
    02:28 - #6 Snatch Strap
    03:19 - #7 Shackles
    03:36 - #8 Recovery Points
    03:54 - #9 Tool Kit
    04:21 - #10 Air Compressor
    04:43 - Misc: Nice-to-have (bonus)

    Hi I’m very enjoy your video, I want to ask you in vey cold weather like snow for example is better petrol car? Or diesel car? Thanks

    • @The4x4Lab
      @The4x4Lab  ปีที่แล้ว

      Gasoline doesn't freeze up - for that reason alone, petrol would be my choice. 😉

    What else would you add to this must-have 4-wheeling list?

    • @The4x4Lab
      @The4x4Lab  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Matt Hanson In fact, I included duck tape and black zip ties at the end of the video in the "bonus, nice to have" section" :D I agree about the knife and flash light.
      Thanks a lot for the support mate!

      You will be surprised how much camping geat can be fitted in the trunk if you are smart about organizing :) (with the back seats down of course)

    Looks like a tow strap rather than a snatch strap. Also looks like those aren't rated shackles, bow shackles are superior for 4wd recovery.

    • @The4x4Lab
      @The4x4Lab  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I carry both D shackles (that have a smaller loop designed to take high loads in line) and bow shackles (with a curved design, good in taking loads from many directions) so i can use each depending on the need and situation... I haven't gone into these details in this video as it's a beginners guide:)

    Thanks for this video, mate. Very encouraging, especially for a noob like myself. I have a JB43 as well and I'm considering to buy some basic mods for it. Are your rear recovery points from Jimnybits UK? Can you tell me more about your winch plate and front recovery points?

    • @The4x4Lab
      @The4x4Lab  ปีที่แล้ว

      The rear recovery points are from Jimnybits, yes. The front ones are custom mode along with the winch plate - perhaps not that durable but If I get stuck, I do a self recovery with the winch. I just use the front recovery points for a double line pull, so for that purpose, they are more than enough.
