Oh, finally the economists understand what I was saying 20 years ago and told my wife 15 years go. Japan crashed when it became unviable in the production of cheap goods. China was always going to face the same problems with significant differences. Both increased wages but China has the CCPs agresive international stance making it more fragile. Japan created a level of wealth in its population that gave it a resiliance to a crash while Chinas people overal are stil poor, with people living hand to mouth and then encouraged to invest in property. 20 years ago I knew those things and I only did year 11 economics. The question is, why didnt the CCP see it and stop Xi from fucking up international trade relations this early on. 20 more years China may have survived. Right now...

By cutting the outside investment and having sanctions on export hurt dramatically. Most low income jobs vanished and go from saving money and buy only necessities, to barely managing paying for everything, to hardly earning to feed your self and being homeless. They create a wave that go up. First night clubs, small shops, then big stores and chain stores. Closing malls is the most alarming. Now even the rich are starting to run out of money. Its a spiral every economist fear.

I'm not actually gloating because it will mean misery for hundreds of millions of people but the CCP has set China up for two lost generations. They loaded people up with debt, then cut their wages. There is no way out for them. The current upcoming generation will have nowhere to go.
The birth rate, which was already bad is going to tank completely because people can hardly support themselves, let alone having a child, let alone having three children.
China as an economic behemoth, if it happens, won't happen this century. The CCP has very effectively put its people, which it doesn't care about, in the poor house.

A lot worse than Japan's Lost Decades. Japan's unemployment never went higher than 5.5% during the 30 years of stagnation. The top manufacturers on the home islands were re-located to the USA (automotive) & Taiwan. Why don’t people want to spend?
It couldn’t have anything to do with high unemployment rate, could it? Age caps on hiring? Businesses fleeing China because it’s no longer safe with the new laws? Deliberate catastrophic flooding instigated by the ccp? (But yet no funds or assistance from the local government or Beijing, that I can tell) At the other end of the spectrum there’s terrible droughts, but also other extreme weather events like huge hail, tornadoes, typhoons and what have you, those couldn’t have anything to do with that, could they? Or how about employees not being paid for months or years? Claw backs of bonuses and decreased wages (sometimes hugely)? Banks limiting withdrawals? The police consistently suppressing the people and their rights? I could go on yet, like increasing bills, random fines, man there’s just so much material, how does one choose?
But nah, it can’t be any of those, it must be that people are just going against the ccp, that’s why they don’t want to spend money.

-Chinese 🇨🇳 property Ponzi sector, which accounts for 30% of GDP, is crashing

-Foreign investment is falling over 90% compared to it's peak in 2018.
-Foreign visitors are down 96% compared to the pre-pandemic level in 2019 with less than 200 americans left.

-Youth unemployment hits over 21% (in reality 75%+ after eliminating faked numbers), a record.
-It's fast shrinking workforce is 10 years old than neighboring countries.
    - During the years 1990-2021, the US printed 6.5 time more money while China printed 147 times.
    - It has printed more money than the US and Japan combined, while it's economy is only half of them.
    - Current Chinese debt-to-gdp is already highest in the world, at 300%, according to Bloomberg.
    - This is a macroeconomic nightmare created by the party going way back in 1994 when they took the Tofu money off the international exchange. Now in 2024, the banks and the average little pink have no idea what is the ACTUAL value of anything within the country. Any stimulus from the Central state. will be meaningless and ineffectual because the Central Bank is a part of the Party. Thereby merging both fiscal Central and monetary private policies into one ongoing disaster. Local province officials were doing stimulus spending for decades in tandem of the "Economic Miracle" which will undermine any Central stimulus during an actual depression/recession or more accurately.. I suspect the same thing would happen in the US, but for all the Creditcard spending and other debt piling up with the consumers. I am from the Netherlands and, actually believe it or not, but our largest economic problem is a large shortage of workers here! It's hard to find employees and some business are quitting for this reason. We also have very low debt, with public debt to GDP less then 50%!

Japan had a flourishing economy and booming stock market, then the us devalued the dollar by half and suddenly 7 of the top banks in the world were in Japan, thw average Japanese doubled their effective income. This created an artificial boom that made it too expensive to produce anything in Japan.
China has a greater than 50% drop in the stock market and real estate while actual unemployment is higher than 50% while the only industries china has are massively overbuilt because the government put trillions into them causing the world to pass tariffs against them while China is trying to bullet the entire world while siding with Russia isolating them further.
This is greater than the great depression while the government itself is a blatant kleptocracy kidnapping the rich to steal their money confiscating bank accounts, even government employees aren't being paid and even having past wages repossessed.
Add in china has the oldest population in history, pensions and unemployment collapsed, this is the worst depression in history except you can't separate how much much the communiat are doing it through direct theft and corruption.

Population needs to be in balance with jobs, resources, nature and the environment. Having a bigger population in any country than the country can support makes no sense. Access to food, water, shelter, energy and jobs should guide population levels. The worlds population is still expected to add another billion people to feed, clothe and produce pollution. Humans are crowding out all other species of plants and animals. Education and birth control are key to reducing poverty and hunger. Having a child that you can not provide for yourself is cruel and irresponsible. We need solutions not just sympathy. Endless population growth is not sustainable on a finite planet. Every country needs to "TRY" to be more self sufficient. When there are not enough resources to sustain a population something has to give. Countries need to focus on quality of life for their citizens and not just quantity of life for cheap labor. Why import fossil fuels when wind and solar energy can be produced locally and solar energy can power electric vehicles. We need solutions not just sympathy.

It's going to take years for China to recover. Their water isn't safe to drink because of the chemicals used in farming. The land is poisoned too. The citizens can't be healthy if even the air is dangerous. Their leaders know that, they eat organic food and use air purifiers, they need to make the changes, and make it known so that their children and grandchildren will reap the benefits. I hope they do, money does no good if you can't survive the environment.

Hence, (I would venture,) a HUGE reason behind most of the social inequities and problems that everyone's crying about today... This is one of the MOST basic "divide and conquer" stratagems known to a society. Along with depravity.
I GET what a tiered system is designed for, it's just I thought that everyone could see through the micro-thin veneer of such a broken "system." ESPECIALLY "today," with information at almost everyone's fingertips. And if not their own, then someone that they know most definitely has access.
It's a wonder that these cats have made it as long as they have. Surely, at the VERY lest, they've not made it this far contentedly. You SAY that they "don't mind" but I wonder... is that simply because they don't KNOW better or is it that this is what they are "programmed" with, from birth?? Or both?!?
It's a wonder that they've not turned on each other by now... : / Here's hoping for that forever allusive "benevolent dictatorship." Eh!? @@ethericbliss23 I would say it's mostly cultural and also the clan mindset. People are very status conscious and image is very important. China is also not as cohesive as outsiders may think. Inside China the separate regions and provinces have their own identities. Chinese is a national identity and a diverse group. An official ID (even a Chinese passport) issued from one region is often not recognized by another region. Outside of China, they would identify themselves as Chinese or Han to have a sense of identity. "Han" itself is a 20th century political construct used to promote a national identity and unity.
