    My issued .38 saved me more than once during my career & I confidently carry a J Frame in retirement. Also, I’m a leftie and was trained to shoot both revolvers & semi autos in a right handed world absent any problems.

    I think the looks of a revolver is just much nicer to look at. My wife’s night stand gun is a SP101 .22 lr 8 shot with a 4” barrel. She is an excellent shot with it. I bought it to go with my SP101 .357 3”
    barrel, but when she saw it she said it was her turn for a new gun. I couldn’t argue with that

      I can understand that just let her know that every time you buy a gun for her you have to buy a gun for you because that's how the world works lol revolvers are much more of an art piece That's for sure and are amazing to shoot thank you very much for your comment it really does help my channel

    Every remark made in this presentation is validly thought out and any objection would be frivolous. I have and use both types in various sizes and calibers. The revolvers and obsolete semiauto pistols exist in the millions in safekeeping even if rarely carried in public. Would humbly note that while the police and military have transitioned to 9mm wonder nines with 13 to 20 shot capacities away from the six shooter wheelguns, their mission and circumstances are different than armed citizens. Cops travel in pairs with back up colleagues on call and are dispatched to confront the "gangstas." Soldiers operate in squads, platoons, and companies to kill, capture, and destroy the enemy of America. If a pistol malfunctions plenty of fellow warriors got your '6'. Regular folks usually are on their own and just want to avoid predators but if closed in on, need to escape and evade and deflect the attack at about 10 feet or closer. So revolver features and benefits work well for the self-reliant individual preferring those.

    The ONLY advantage a semi automatic has over a revolver is capacity period and it’s not even close.

  • @normtheteacher5485

    Great video. I'll add on as to why semiautomatics can have less recoil than the same ammo shot from a revolver. Reason is semiautomatics have a built in shock absorber. That shock absorber is called the recoil spring. Revolvers have no shock absorber at all. I still love my revolvers though. I love all my guns. They make me happy.

    • @tateabdon1
      @tateabdon1  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have to agree with that cinematics do have built-in recoil control they also have a lot more going on and when you only need one round Make it count saying that picking the gun that works best for you is always my advice thank you for comment

    I carry a revolver every day. Have for years. Never had to pull the trigger but I did have a guy hassling me for my wallet at a gas station a couple years ago that didn't like getting hit in the face with my 686 barrel. Walked right up next to me while I was getting gas and just started talking. He appeared to be unarmed but demanded my wallet. I think he expected it to be an easy thing because I was dressed up fancy, had out of state plates, and he couldn't see what was under my dinner jacket.
    I just drew the gun from my shoulder holster, and slapped him across the face with it. He went out like a light, and a car a couple pumps over peeled out of there. He had a small pocket knife on his belt that I threw in the nearby trash can, but beyond that I just rolled him over into the recovery position, hung up the gas hose, i got back in my truck and I drove away.
    I always hear about how revolvers don't hold enough rounds, but the one time I needed a gun on this continent it wouldn't have needed any bullets. A plastic wonder 9 probably wouldn't have been as effective either.

    I'm of the opinion that one isn't a true gun nut without at least one revolver. I have four, but I also have like over a dozen Glocks. To be honest, though, I regard revolvers as being somewhat of an expert's weapon. That long, heavy double action takes a lot of practice to get good with and it lacks the recoil mitigation of a semi. Because of this, though, anytime I see a guy who carries a revolver, I know he can get the job done... I don't have that same assurance from some rando with a Glock

    Revolvers tend to have more issues when they are used more often. If you’re going to load a revolver up and leave it in your drawer it will be 100% reliable. Autos tend to have more issues with magazines or ammo sensitivity.

  • @lens7859
    @lens7859 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    in my early days, or back when, I started with revolvers and over time did have some prob with revolvers, but rare, but still had some events, but nothing that was ever a critical prob with my carry revolver. But eventually had pref for more ammo capacity and then became a loyal Glcok shooter and so no more revolvers for me, just Glocks, after many many guns trial and tested. My learning curve. Better to have rifle than a handgun, but we all know that.

  • @r64g
    @r64g 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In civilian settings where the goal is to stop the threat or to break contact with the criminals, revolvers make a lot of sense. The lack of capacity is less of an impediment. In police/military where suppressive fire is often needed as part of an offensive maneuver, the higher capacity of autoloaders is desirable.

    I love revolvers I have 3 but for self defense from 2 leg predators I definitely prefer a semiauto pistol. Yes in some cases it might be better for some people to carry revolvers. A modern semi rarely malfunctions when they do its so easy and fast to clear them . I know in some cases the rounds used in a defensive shooting are 5 or 6 but if more than one attacker it's always good to have 11 or 15 rounds in your gun. If you are worried about limb wrist don't buy a glock

    Any thoughts on the 2.5 ruger gp100 357? I am seriously interested in purchasing one. I've never shot a revolver, I'm a 1911 guy but, living in a state that has mag restrictions, I thought 7rds of 357 would be just as good or better than 7rds of 45.

    • @tateabdon1
      @tateabdon1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely agree the 357 is a better round than the 45 for a lot of purposes the only problem I have is the rugers come with such bad triggers you will have to do some work to get them to be a little smoother that's why I'm a big Smith and Wesson fan or just plan on doing it trigger job if you buy Ruger because they are great guns sturdy and definitely can handle the rounds

    I’m 72. I own both types of pistols. I have Elmer Fudd stencilled on the inside of my forehead. I live in the “flyover country”. I am deplorable.
    I am not John Wick. My knees don’t bend that far. I’m never going to deal in a multiple assailant gun fight. So I lean to a long barrelled 45 LC. An 1860 I set up with a Kurst converter. Light was cutter lead bullet loads. I can put five in the palm of your hand at 15 yards. One is all it will take. It’s light, fun too shoot and won’t fall out of my belt. No holster required. And it’s not an ffl item. It’s legally not a gun where I live. Nobody knows that I have it. I load my own ammo. All I need is primers and unique powder. In a pinch I swap to the percussion cylinder and shoot black powder. Same ballistics, just a lot of smoke.
    You do what you want. I’ll do what I want. If I ever need an AR or glock I know how to get one. In conclusion, never pick a fight with an old Fudd on his turf; he will just kill you.
    Relax. Stay six feet apart.....I could never stand to get that close to people, but that’s what they say we should do. Wear a mask if you want.
