Ha, I loved it when you said “the Bears were scared away”! I have never seen as many Bears as I did on the Rockwall! In fact, had my closest encounter of around 20’ but, fortunately, non-aggressive. There was a person who supposedly got charged that day though. Saw 2 sets of moms/cubs too. Amazing.
Also- that was when I was 59 (so stop talking about mid 30s- LOL!)
You’re a monster. Damn powerful. Flow was the only lake I jumped into. Did go into the creek at McArthur for a bath. That was fresh.

Damn I went to Floe Lake the day before so I missed you by one day! It was raining and snowing the day before so the trail was extremely muddy and cold. I should have extended my trip one day so I could go to Floe Lake with the better weather and say good luck to you on the rest of the Great Divide Trail!
Finally getting to see your Rockwall trail footage! Right before we were supposed to do it as a family. We wimped out cuz it was calling for rain/snow our entire trip and are headed to west coast of Vancouver island instead. I’m pretty disappointed but also didn’t want to do the trail without the views.

Loving the videos, but I gotta ask, how did you get all of these sites booked...I have watched 4 of these and almost all of them travel through areas that I tried to book as soon as the phone lines opened and nothing was available. I would love to know how you had success...You have picked great locations, so sorry about the forest fires.

I was 400 in the queue - just got lucky. I also purposefully skipped a lot of very popular campsites. For instance, I didn't stay at one official campsite on Rockwall, I dipped into the BC Park where you don't need reservations.

I'm 50 and could lose some weight. My body is not what is was in my 20s but I still out hike my 21 year old daughter and 11 year old son....not my 17 year old son though

Using a nylofume liner - when it gets as cold as it has been getting at night, condensation is inevitable and gets everything wet

You're doing amazing. Would love to see time of day stamps to get an idea of your pacing, or how long it takes for certain sections. Plus it adds to the impressiveness. :p
I'll be sharing my stats after the trip, but it would have been a lot to try and add it in while on trail.

I don't think most GDT veterans would have bothered finishing, let alone beginners, after going through 1/10th what you went through, but you smashed it and rose above the challenges. I did 11 years in the CF infantry with a combat tour. Hiking through thick smoke, gear failing, drastic weather changes through wet weather, shin splints, even a bear charge....those are no joke; and you handled them all like a pro. Again, amazing job out there brother. Pro Patria. Pro Libertatum.
