  • Nestled in the heart of Tiong Bahru Market Food Centre, two stalls stand out for their dedication to traditional Singaporean hawker fare, each with a history dating back to the 1950s. Teck Seng Soya Bean Milk and Tiong Bahru Handmade You Tiao & Hum Chim Peng are not just food stalls; they are living legacies of Singapore's culinary heritage.
Teck Seng Soya Bean Milk is a testament to the unwavering commitment of Mr. Loo, who has been at the helm since 1985, taking over from his father. His nocturnal routine begins when the city sleeps, meticulously crafting soya bean milk and beancurd from 10:30 pm to 4 am. The beans are soaked, ground, cooked, and washed by his own hands, following the slow-cooking tradition passed down by his father. The result is an artisanal beancurd so silky and smooth, it's like tasting a piece of history.
    Operating Hours:
5 am - 11:30 am (Closed on Monday)
    Address:
    #02-69, 30 Seng Poh Rd, Singapore 168898
Just a few steps away, Tiong Bahru Handmade You Tiao & Hum Chim Peng continues the legacy of Mdm Ng's father-in-law. Together with her family, she crafts butterfly fritters, You Tiao, and Hum Chim Peng from scratch daily. The fritters are fried on the spot, ensuring they are always crispy and hot. Pairing a You Tiao with Mr. Loo's cold soya bean milk creates a breakfast experience that's deeply rooted in tradition.

These stalls are more than just food vendors; they are the bearers of tradition, representing the soul of Singaporean hawker culture. Their long hours of preparation and homemade offerings are a rare find in today's fast-paced world. When you visit, you're not just enjoying a meal; you're partaking in a rich history that continues to thrive in the hands of dedicated artisans like Mr. Loo and Mdm Ng. Come taste the legacy at Tiong Bahru Market Food Centre.
