@@KevinUlett they really are. I find their playing dead and the spitting etc very theatrical. They are characters - that’s for sure! 😂 You don’t seem to get that many of them where you stay or am I wrong? Up in Gauteng, we get lots of them.
that was a very interesting door. Easy to see how that made for such a great hiding spot. Well done Kevin! Sure was a pretty Rinkhals! Didn't know they played dead too!
Kevin a beautiful catch, but he wasn't impressed with you, little bit arrogant this one, most beautiful colors, thank you once again saving this beauties. God protect you stay safe
Wow, what an awesome snake. I remember seeing an episode of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom about the Rinkhals when I was a boy. I have always thought the spitting cobra was something special.
Is the venom they spit the same as there venom they inject - it has a different purpose. Beautiful snake and I'm glad it did its disappearing-inside-the-door trick while you were there because you probably would never have found it.
Feisty snake but interesting to see him playing dead. How hard would you say it is to catch a Rinkhals when compared to other venomous snakes you encounter?
It all depends on the situation. They can make it very difficult sometimes. But thankfully this rinkhals cooperated nicely. If he didn't come out of the door, I would have probably ended up taking it apart to get it out.
Makes it easier for the snake. They may be familiar with the territory and can adjust back to their normal lives. If you release a snake a long way away from where you found it, they have to spend a lot of energy trying to get to know the territory, finding water and food etc. In fact, quite a few snakes that are released more than 5kms away from the spot you found it, struggle to survive the first few weeks in the new environment.
Did you watch the video? It was under the front door, and they were inside? The house has no other door unless they climb out a window... that's pretty trapped to me. The photo was taken afterward👍
He was all kinds of drama. Spitting and playing dead. I didn’t know cobras did that. Western hognose do a great job at playing dead if they’re stressed. Lay on their back tongue hanging out. Crazy.
Why do you provoke the snakes, in order that they spit their venom on your filming camera? Then when they need it to chase and eat they don’t have it anymore!
Woah! Not a fan of snakes whatsoever but can’t stop watching videos of them.
I'm glad you're enjoying them!
snakes are fascinating.
He is such a cutie. Poor little guy just wanted to protect himself. They are such beautiful snakes. ❤
They are a very pretty species!

The neighbours' garden? 🤣
What an arsenal of weapons this dude has... Spits venom, plays dead. I'm so glad these snakes are nowhere near me.

thats a beauty.
that do you wash your hands and equipment off with to clear the venom?
I do wash it off myself, but I don't really bother with the equipment 😁👌🦌🦌
Boil in oil
Wow trippy!! Do you wash the venom off?
Yes, I do wash it off afterwards 👌

@@KevinUlett thanks for the reply! With your expert skill set you know what mood the snake is in and will act accordingly
@@kshafer5599I have a question for ypu since you're an Afrikaner. Is rinkhal an Afrikaan word?
@@goodputin4324Yes, it means a collar. Did you see the, snake had white lines across its neck like a collar?
@@Claire11elliott ah okay makes sense now. Dank ju wel!
Looked like a dangerous capture/removal!!
Could have been worse. Thankfully it went smoothly
Release it nearby......? Is that such a good idea?
