I love that exhaust note! I’m 60 years old, and still love watching the movie and singing all the songs. I just saw a video clip of a tribute show for Dick Van Dyke on his 98th birthday. Had a replica Chitty for him to sit in, and the singers and dancers performed “ Chitty Bang Bang” and “Me Old Bamboo”, complete with the original choreography from “Mary Poppins.” And he sat there, singing along, and enjoying every moment.
Lovely job. I am wondering where the tools are to build such a fantasmagorical machine? Didn't see anything in the pics or video that would enable a build of this magnitude. English wheel? Welders? Not even a spanner. Pics of in progress metal fabrication, chassis welding and fab, and woodwork would be great. I'm restoring a 1969 Aston Martin DBS to "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" specification, being my #1 dream car. Chitty is a close second, and I echo someone else's idea to build the original version as a grand prix racer. Cheers! BTW your Truly is truly!
It took 2 solid and expensive years to heavily research in every conceivable way and 2 years of working every single day to complete whilst doing the 'day job'. Mentally couldn't do it again but well worth the effort.
@@tudorwheels I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say, Chitty is THE most famous and iconic car in film history and in the world Peter Jackson sure is a lucky fellow for owning the original GEN

That beautiful.
Do you have any plans or blueprints to help you build it?

The original numberplate
I wonder if he used a Ford engine. It sounds just like the engine in the original car, which is a Ford engine
Hey Scott - it should sound exactly the same because I located and used exactly the same engine as used in GEN. You have a good ear!

Could you build a replica of the speedster racer version of Chitty that featured at the beginning of the film.
