Sorry for jeff but being a newport fan the dug themselves out of the bottom in that last month and didn't deserve to be relegated either. Emotional day
That Leicester Watford one was insane, I don’t think you’ll ever see another one like that again. The double save and then straight down the other end and score. It was absolute justice as well because Knockaert blatantly dived to win that penalty.
We just seem to be like this, last Season we scored in the last minutes against Charlton to bring the Play-Offs to extra time. Then in extra time we scored to make it 4-3 on aggregate but disappointingly we conceded straight away. It was 4-4 until we eventually lost on penalties
What hurt even more about it for Leicester is that even with missing the penalty, they were still heading to extra time or pens if necessary, but Watford’s goal sent them straight through. Gg.
That happened to me when Cardiff beat Palace to go to the League Cup final. I ran on the pitch with everyone else and this p***k steward clotheslined my neck and tackled me to the ground. If I hadn’t have been doing something wrong and running on to the pitch I would’ve initiated legal action as the way he tackled me was excessive, illegal and against all of the training/rules stewards have for tackling people. The police saw what he did to me and got him off me and asked me to go back in the stand, which I did. That steward was a complete thug and I never saw him again at the ground so I guess the police mentioned something to the club and the club sacked him. Some stewards are nothing more than power hungry thugs.
The funniest thing is that if Knockaert had scored Leicester probably wouldn't have gone on to win the Prem, at least if they had managed to beat palace anyway
It’s funny how the Doncaster game was more dramatic than Watford’s because it secured certain promotion and not the Play off final yet the commentary makes Deeney’s more memorable
There’s a reference to what happened on the last day of the regular season-Watford gave up a late penalty to lose automatic promotion, if I remember; is there video of that game in the last day anywhere?
@@2themoon863 the game was Watford at home to Leeds where Watford won 6-1 earlier in the season. Almunia failed a fitness test so Bond was in goal. He got clattered by a Leeds player and so Jack Bonham came on a sub keeper. He was at fault for the goal Leeds scored in the first half. Nerves got the better of him and he froze and Leeds scored I think with a minute left to win 2-1. Bonham was released and recovered. Had Watford concentrated on getting a draw and not worry about what Hull were doing against Cardiff they would have gone up with a draw. Type Watford 1 Leeds 2 and you get the final day of the Championship highlights.

The Brentford v Doncaster game is a personal one for me as a Bournemouth fan. We were waiting on the pitch at Prenton Park getting ready to celebrate winning the league 1 title. Word comes through Brentford have a penalty, we’re all celebrating and then we hear Doncaster have scored and we’re like HOW??? We look at each other, we haven’t won the league, the air completely sucked out of us. Fast forward two years, we’re celebrating promotion at The Valley to the Premier League when Sheffield Wednesday score a penalty at Watford to give us the Championship title in injury time. Two injury time penalties in three years, neither of them in our own game, one scored, one missed, one gave the Cherries a league title and one took it away. Last day of the season football. Pure drama.
I once met Jeff Stelling in front of the Madjeski stadium in Reading where I was at University. Shook his hand, nice bloke. FA Cup replay - Reading vs Tottenham. We had front row seats although there was only one goal at the other end, scored by Spurs.

I was there for Aguero goal. Absolutely. Amazing. Love seeing ALL of United, especially Michael Owen thinking he was going to get the league title, then their faces as they hear the news. Priceless.
As a leicester fan I’m so glad we missed that penalty as we got one more season in the championship to really find ourselves before to took on the PL and what a transformation we have made.

I felt for Jeff during the Hartlepool one. And I like that no one took the mick either, they looked genuinely gutted for him.
lol Yh woulda been cruel you could see lip going as he asked Mersin whose in 😂
Steven Moore yeah I did! I’m glad they didn’t rip him for it. Hartlepool means the world to him.
