FYI: On the original version Sooyoung wrote and recorded a rap in Japanese during the little dance break, but it got cut out of the final recording. This was also the first Japanese single specifically written for the Japanese market. All the previous singles were remakes of the Korean hits. They eventually dropped a Korean version on a re-packaged version of The Boys in Korea.

Everyone is always just judging the mv quality, when back in the day it was mostly the song itself people focused on. its so frustrating, because all of snsd Japanese tracks are a bob, but i dont necessarily like all of the mv's.

Soshi's Japanese lyrics are actually quite genius. It's super smart how they combine English, Japanese, and Korean in an appealing way without over-using pronouns (which Japanese usually omits), stuffing the song with filler syllables, or otherwise sounding really awkward in general. Also, while they're not necessarily super deep, the concepts behind them are usually a bit more ambitious and memorable than your typical kpop jam (and at times existential).

The SJJD Japanese tracks (mostly B Sides) hits hard (actually most of Japanese tracks hits harder more than their Koreans). Like Paparazzi, Flower Power, Bad Girl, T.O.P, The Great Escape, My Oh My, Galaxy Supernova, Show Girls. And also the Japanese versions of their Title Tracks, Gee, Genie, Oh, and Run Devil Run.
If I remember correctly too...I think they rehearsed the dance with paper plates too to create a good shape for the chorus~ I could be remembering wrong though lol its been so long, gotta love their Japanese discography
