@smpman100 I work at Universal. We take heights really seriously. If you're just under it, we're supposed to take a thin object like a paper or a clipboard and see if we can put it between your head and the height stick.
@ridemaster101 No it does not maverick uses LSM which is magnets to get up the hill, trust me I've Benn on it about ten times there are no friction wheels on the hill just white things in the middle which are LSM's. But if you don't believe me watch a POV.
@fyadcorp Er, LSM launch as well. Forgot about those. Anyway it's a fun coaster, the launchis outstanding and so are the first 4 inversions. After that it's sort of average, butthe first part makes it all worthwhile.
I am not going to lie, the first time I rode it I didn't know about the launch. Scared the crap out of me, that was well over 10 years ago, rode it again today.
I'm wondering. Why did Universal go with B&M to build this ride if B&M can't do launched coasters. It would've been easier to go with a company that can do them instead of needing to find a whole different company to build a launch mechanism and design the thing to be a launch coaster.
B&M is building a clone of the Hulk in the upcoming Universal Beijing. It will use drive tires for launching. facebook.com/VHCoasters/photos/a.1406283253010402/2075744052730982/?type=3&theater
1:45 "And hung some weights off of a pulley at the other end, and we dropped the weight" 2:32 "We tried 1g, we tried 2gs, 3gs, 4gs, 5gs" It is literally impossible for the dune buggy to accelerate more than 1g!!! They dropped the weights, which were pulled by gravity. Gravity by definition is 1g. If the weights are too light, the dune buggy would roll backwards. Just enough weight, and it would not move up or down the incline. More weight than that, it will accelerate up the incline The heavier the weight, the closer the acceleration would get to 1g, but it would never get to 1g, let alone surpass 1g, only approach 1g of acceleration.
sheaves? a 3:1 with 3 x the weight on the 3 side would pull an object close to 3g's, am i wrong? gravity times 3 due to the sheaves in the opposite way they are used in cranes.
stupid question? but is there anywhere else in the world coaster like this that has same type of lauch?really loved this coaster lauch is the best just pure joy joy
No, its unique in the fact that its a false lift-hill launch. no one else has done it. It requires an insane amount of energy and maintenance to do. Only a place like Universal really has the budget to do it. Every other launch coaster is on level ground.
It was rough before the retrack. Poor maintenance only goes so far. Went every year from 08-15 and it got rougher over the last few years I attended annually.
Ive been on this thing so many times... its actually boring now. I still like the intro in the tunnel though when you go from like 0-40. It gets your heart racing for just a second. Every time.
Wait, so if this launches at only 1 g, how come I had a complete loss of consciousness on this ride? Like, I don't remember it launching like that at all when I rode it but I've seen many videos of this ride so that's how I know it does. I don't even remember putting on my seatbelt. The thing I remember was that I went up to the station, and after that, I remember being on the ride. First, I was deaf and blind for like a few seconds and I began to open my eyes and I was having the aura effect (light flashes). And I was like "Where am I?" But then, I remembered I was on the Hulk at Universal and just pretended like nothing happened and enjoyed the ride. I think I came back when we were going through a vertical loop but my memory is fuzzy. And I felt fine afterwards except that I was very sleepy, which I kinda was before I got on. I am quite prone to greyouts on roller coasters but never had a total loss of consciousness before from them. I've been trying to investigate into the cause of this. What is the maximum amount of G's this ride pulls? I've been trying to find that out to see if it was the cobra roll and not the launch but my guess is that maybe I wasn't prepared for the launch. Is there any way I can prevent this? And would anyone even know the exact or most likely cause?
The zero g roll made you lose consciousness because of the 1g throwing you upside down make you feel a lot of weight go to your feet and some people pass out as a result of this.
you don't have time to think about "maybe this wasn't a good idea" after the launch. the ride is so immersive at this point after the renovation to where you start thinking that the moment right before the launch when you hear the words "DO NOT BE AFRAID"
@IWIN3 I LOVE THIS RIDE TO DEATH NOTHING ELSE GO HULK COSTER BUT 0-40MPH IN 2 SECONDS IS NOT FAST AT ALL I COULD SLEEP ON THAT RIDE BUT ITS SO BEAST I CANT
8 megawatts of power!?!? Are you serious? Is this guy mistaken because Superman the escape at magic mountain is said to take 1.2negawatts per track and that has to use some SERIOUS force to launch the 6 ton cars up to 100 in 7 seconds. Hulk only uses comparatively small motors to lunch. Most of me believes the guy since I doubt for the most part he is incorrect, but the numbers seem way way off. I love roller coaster tech and engineering by the way so I’m not intending to be all nit picky or anything. Just very curious.
I've ridden this ride more times than most people have had hot dinners my record is 10 times in one day then i got bored its not what it used to be though
Seems clunky and outdated compared to an LIM launch. Lots of moving parts and you need a flywheel-generator set (or a new substation) to power it. I think if this coaster was built today, Universal would have tried to develop an LIM system.
Did You Know.. That It Had The Record For Tallest Corbra Roll When It Opened In 1999??
I
Max Dill if you were 11 when writing this comment, now you're 18. Jeeze lol
This was the ever proper roller coaster I rode. Awesome ride.
I say it's the most well designed B&M. It's not the best but it is the most creative.
I marathoned it!
@smpman100 I work at Universal. We take heights really seriously. If you're just under it, we're supposed to take a thin object like a paper or a clipboard and see if we can put it between your head and the height stick.
If it wasnt for the generators everytime that ride launched it would dimm the lights in orlando and risk makeing a black out across orlando
I’ve been on this roller coaster, it was amazing
It’s a shame they felt like adding on board audio to add sand in the B&M Track to take away its original charm
Ah yeah love this ride.
Love it!!
I love this coaster it's gonna be there forever and the next Harry potter ride will be at universal studios where jaws was
I would love to ride that test sled they built
The hulk is by far the best roller coaster I've been on I went omit

Because b&m is the best in the business when it comes to inverting coasters.
+Halon Poisoning B&M is known for building reliable and long lasting coasters.
well premier did a good job with the launch so...
Vekoma sucks but they make hella good launch coasters

oh man i forgot about those old trains. they looked so cool
1:45 "And hung some weights off of a pulley at the other end, and we dropped the weight"
2:32 "We tried 1g, we tried 2gs, 3gs, 4gs, 5gs"

Fascinating vid! Roller coaster science :D
@1997BAB That's true cause B&M don't do launches or LIM system.
Happy I live 20 minutes from the coaster :D (Universal)
@ridemaster101 yes they are both magnetic, so your were right in a way
Man, 1g gets tiresome sometimes. If the ride launched you at 3g at specific days or at night would be awesome~
I wanna know who did the voices in the launch tube...
Amazingly awesome. Then theres weightlessnes at the roll.
@ridemaster101 I do agree with you there but the mummy is LiM
@ridemaster101 look up maverick at cedar point it uses magnets to get up its hill. its called LSM
stupid question? but is there anywhere else in the world coaster like this that has same type of lauch?really loved this coaster lauch is the best just pure joy joy
The Pikachu Brothers yeah but lifth launch like the hulk?
No, its unique in the fact that its a false lift-hill launch. no one else has done it. It requires an insane amount of energy and maintenance to do. Only a place like Universal really has the budget to do it. Every other launch coaster is on level ground.
@@robmausser i think bejing universal pure copy of hulk just in transformers themed not 100% If its same launch But looks same as hulk in orlando
I know some people say the Hulk is rough, but personally, I think it's really smooth.
It was rough before the retrack. Poor maintenance only goes so far. Went every year from 08-15 and it got rougher over the last few years I attended annually.
Not anymore

beast man
Oh okay. I'm going to Islands in 3 days. How do I avoid that?
Sit on the right side in the middle in the front row.
beast man is the force less there?
Somewhat yea
you don't have time to think about "maybe this wasn't a good idea" after the launch. the ride is so immersive at this point after the renovation to where you start thinking that the moment right before the launch when you hear the words "DO NOT BE AFRAID"
Wait wait wait wait! Is the launch slower or faster that the Rockin Rollercoaster's launch? Also, if it is slower is it still more thrilling?
Carson Munn slower, this launch I believe is 0-40 Rock N RollerCoaster is 0-57 but has a drop after the launch bringing it to 67mph
Necro replay: Rock and rollercoaster launches on a flat surface, this launches at an upward angle
@IWIN3 I LOVE THIS RIDE TO DEATH NOTHING ELSE GO HULK COSTER BUT 0-40MPH IN 2 SECONDS IS NOT FAST AT ALL I COULD SLEEP ON THAT RIDE BUT ITS SO BEAST I CANT

when was this ride made
I'M GOING ON THIS IN A FEW MONTHS!!!!!!!
@adizzle94 the speed had always been 40 mph on the launch, and more speed dose not mean more g's.
I believe it's a little bit slower. That said it is just as thrilling. I think it's the fact that it launches whilst going up a hill that does it.
I've ridden this ride more times than most people have had hot dinners my record is 10 times in one day then i got bored its not what it used to be though
these vids r grewt just wish they didnt cut out half way through :-(
How do you get behind the scenes?
Best ride
There's a good reason it's called a zero-G roll, ya know.
i went on it 5 or 6 times. i woulda kept going but i started getting nauseous and sick and my body was telling me to stop
i went on the ride it was the best ride ever

what program is this clip from? It aired on USA and travel channel in 2002...??
Anyone know the name of song in the beginning?
@IWIN3 B&M and Premier actually help made this.
Ok the its actually 2g at lunch because in 2008 They uped the speed!
How many times did u ride
Im Scared To Go On This
what dose the ride feel like when it lanchs up
Are you still alive?
Hi yes im still about and this ride I went on back in April 2009 was so awesome
Jesus Christ you have had the same youtube account for over a decade.
ive rode it 11 times
Its not really a ride.. Its going to be Diagon Alley and the Train Station that will take you to the other park.
Who’s here after the reopening
Think that’s fast? Try rock n roller coaster starring aerosmith
Well the incredible hulk is 40 mph but goes to 67 while rock n rollercoaster is like 57, but they are both REALLY FUN
15 times
2009
@LeeClaxton lol it cant " fall down". Liar.
Five times this is linked to my last comment
A ride the you don't want to be on coke with trust me I know
