valraven is one of my top 5 roller coaster at cedar point because it is very very very smooth and that it is the tallest longest and fastest diving coaster in the world and i love that first drop
It's an ARB anti roll back. The chain dog carries you up the lift. Coaster mechanic here. The clicking you hear up a lift, is the ARB slapping on the roll back wrack.
so for the E-stop, if it cuts all power... that doesn't seem safe for station blocks, or am I misunderstanding? If there's no power how does it stop a train?
E-stop actually doesn't "cut power" to rides. It's actually a 2 channel string e stop. If either channel opens, it impliments an E-stop condition in the controller. This releases a relay called the ESR (E - stop relay). This relay in turn shuts off 2 MCR's (Master control relays) These MCR's are required to be on to supply voltage to most outputs of the controller. This enables pilot lights and alarms to remain on, while critical outputs (such as brake valve solenoids, motor drives, 480v hot rails...) to be shut down immediately until the fault condition is removed and a system reset performed. I'm an attraction electrician so I'm just speaking from experience 👍🏻
My late Grandfather would have loved to see this. He loved coasters and Cedar Point. How did you get to see behind the scenes? Thank you for filming and posting this video.
Hi Erika, we paid to do the tour, it wasn't cheap but it was one of the best things I've ever done at an amusement park. The full video from the day is here; th-cam.com/video/g1xqeV8hpN0/w-d-xo.html More info about the tour; www.cedarpoint.com/tickets-passes/vip-tours/sunrise-thrills-vip-tour
so as gate keeper because it is a wing coaster and it is my very first wing coaster i rode in my entire life that first drop is preety smooth in my opinion it is the best wing coaster out right now maybe not in other peoples opinion but in my opinion it is but the fist drop goes down preety slow but it is still a fun roller coaster
I can’t see Blackpool Pleasure Beach opening the season Blackpool pleasure beach it’s like Disney World they cannot afford open the air park at this moment well into next year when the virus is over they can’t take that chance great video young man
7:00 "this is our e-top, we only press this if the ride is on fire or a piece of track is missing" hahaha probably not a wise move to mention that! haha
amazing video, cept. he was discussing things, that were making noise and somebody was going "OHHHPRETTYWHEELS" the person giving the tour, you follow and keep the camera on.
Did You Know That YOUR Maintenance & Testing Is NO! Different Than That Of Ski Resort Ropeways. The Chairlifts Also Use Not Water Dummies But Do Use An Equilivant Of Water Dummies But Barrels Of Water On The Seats As A Load Test.. A lot Of Similarities Safety Switches, Proxy Switches, ECT Pretty Much The Same Stuff That Roller Coasters Safety Team Uses The Lift Operations Also Use.
So if some jackass undoes their seat belt or pulls out a camera on the lift, they hit lift stop, not E stop? This was cool to see. First time I've seen a control panel other than a static photo of one
Yeah, I don't think people really consider that when posting on the internet that parks should build rides every few years lol. The upkeep of a B&M is a very large sum of money every year.
Why the hell would B&M be so scared about anyone taking pictures of their blueprints? It's not like any of those people own a metal fabrication shop and CAD software to copy them. Also it's not like any of those people work for any coaster manufacturers, so what will they do with those pictures that so bad anyways? Post them to facebook? Yeah that REAAAALLY bad (sarcasm).
I guess you never know who's on a tour, could be a bunch of guys from Intamin or Vekoma as an example. Toverland did us a tour of their wing coaster and hide the blueprints when we did that tour.
The park I'm at, we look at the blueprints all the time for troubleshooting and repairs, but all the rides are extremely strict about who see's them. all the manufacturers just want to protect their intellectual property I'm guessing

The Dive Coaster checklist

Mid course break run that slows the train to a halt: check
Random inversion or two or random splash effect: check

HR They’re not the most exciting coasters in fairness
I thought the random splash effect served as a water break.

Always find these videos fascinating. Only been on two of these types of coasters, oblivion & valkyria. Would like to go on more.

so for the E-stop, if it cuts all power... that doesn't seem safe for station blocks, or am I misunderstanding? If there's no power how does it stop a train?
I don't think he quite meant it like that
They are failsafe brakes. They actually require power to open instead of closing. In the case of the magnetic brakes they use permanent magnets.
E-stop actually doesn't "cut power" to rides. It's actually a 2 channel string e stop. If either channel opens, it impliments an E-stop condition in the controller.
