- Watch as Oliver puts on rubber boots for only the second time in his life! It takes him a while to get used to them, and at first he thinks they feel strange, but in the end he seems to like how they protect his feet from the snow. (Credit for help with captions: TH-cam user "hey_there")

@@OlivertheBeagle Kudos to you and Oliver! Not all dogs are this happy in booties, but Oliver seemed to intuitively understand, as soon as he got out into the snow, they were like little "coats" for his feet -- and he took right to them.

Yeah they’re weird while in the house, but once they’re out in bad weather they get used to it and it’s very beneficial to them. Many folks take their pet’s paws for granted.

@@JumpingJacksism I mean, Wolves that usually deal with snow have adapted a layer of fur on their paws to help keep warm and not freeze their paws off.
Most domestic dog paws that I know of aren't made for trucking throu snow. There's prob breeds who do, maybe, idk, it's probable Snow Dogs have the same insulation factor as Wolves.
You need the snow boots "baby Oliver" you will get use to them and realize they are protecting your pretty little paws! You are the most beautiful pup ever!!!

I would rate this episode as one of most best performances by Oliver as he shows that he can adjust to a "difficult situation". Thank you for sharing. I can imagine that the salt could cause a real problem with the pads on his feet.

Adorable. My beagle was always very unhappy when I tried to mess with his feet, cut nails or wash feet. He was as precious as Oliver. He never wore a coat or boots though.🌻
Yes, Oliver is so, so sensitive about his feet! He doesn't really like it when we touch them in any way. He barely tolerates having his nails trimmed...

I had to watch those the second time it was so entertaining. From the beginning I was so convinced there would not be a good outcome but once he got to the park it was like he got shot out of a cannon. I’ve never seen him run so fast. Those boots must have really good treads
I know, it's very unusual to see Oliver run that fast! You're right--it's exactly like he got shot out of a cannon. Suddenly a switch flipped and he went from zero to 60 in 3.8 seconds!
@@OlivertheBeagle my dogs tend to act like that right after they finish a bath. running like a maniac, up over and around everything, rub the face. they got a fenced in yard so the snow only brings this type of reaction if it is the first snow in a while.
I guess once he got out in the snow,Oliver really liked having those boots on.He's such a happy dog.

Oh, this reminds me of something with my first dog who made it to 17. He was a Black Lab, Pitbull, Doberman, and Terrier. During one winter, he was 10-14, the salt with the snow would be hurting his paws, having him limping or staying in place during the return trip. On one occasion I got an old wagon of ours to carry him back, and another he actually allowed me to pick him up and carry him a distance (he was very prideful). My parents finally bought him snow boots, and he hated them. Every time he was walking with them on, he would walk in a way that would end with a boot coming off, only for me to pick it up and put it back on him. Eventually I had enough, so when one of the boots came off, I picked it up and we continued. When his paw started to hurt, I brushed it off as best I could before putting the boot on. This resulted with him appreciating the boots, realizing what they did for him, and not resisting when it came to putting the boots on. This was of course after he already learned not to run on ice while wearing boots, so he wouldn't go spread eagle face first.

my dogs are fine wearing coats in winter but that probably has more to do with the cold and the fact that it is easy for snow to get high enough to touch their underbellies.

Yes, the short clip at the end is from right before bedtime... Oliver often brings a toy to bed and then starts whimpering like that and scratches the bed like he is trying to dig a hole. We're not sure why he does this, but we think that he is trying to hide or protect his toys! He only whimpers like that at bedtime, though, so it seems to have something to do with him wanting to go to sleep as well.

Oliver is so adorable. Watching him brings experiences of our own male Rocko who passed in 2019 at age 14. They look so much alike. I will always love that face and sweet heart. Thank you for sharing his daily adventures. I love his bedtime routine. Seems all beagles are alike.
