  • Caught entirely unawares by the call from Stockholm, Klaus Hasselmann's surprise is evident in this brief interview with Adam Smith, recorded just minutes after the news of his Nobel Prize in Physics had been announced. "I'll wake up tomorrow morning and find out," he says! Pleased that the prize focuses attention on the problem, he discusses the challenges in convincing people that "something that is going to happen in 20 or 30 years is something that you have to respond to now."

Over the last 50 years? So this includes the cooling era of the 70s. What was his opinion on that?

People skeptical of climate change will be aware that this is a fact and we need to act now.

the earth is GREENER then its ever been , most deserts arent getting bigger , they are getting smaller , water levels haven't risen in a LOOOONNG time, the ozone layer is better now with 8 billion people then when we only had 4 billion? how does that make sense ,,, you would think having double the amount of people since the ozone layer thing was an issue would have made it worse , but they stopped talking about it and moved on to the next "climate" problem.

I just love how he reminded that journalist to be more aware about the climate change and cover more climate news rather than thinking only about TRP.

Really climate change is very serious topic but some people take it very granted so now we should turn into our MInd and do something for climate. Otherwise we could face so many problems in coming a day .

A truly well-deserved award for this gentleman!! What a big advance! Finally the Climate Change is being recognized, what a brilliant research, Klaus. As a young climate activist I’m delighted and very thankful for your work, it’s a big step forward, we are fighting with a climate change that are being sponsored by a big industry that don’t see that are destroying themselves and the whole world. Many congratulations!! I’m so happy!

Again, no hypothetical pathway for the average person to follow. It for me was not unlike my attending a church service when I was a child. The Nobel Prize group have undoubtedly done fine things over the decades. But the last 20 years has proven to be disappointing. Like ones reputation, once stained it forever weakened.
