Love my Browning Hi Power. Easily the best 9mm I've owned.

My favourite 9mm pistol by far, used it in the Irish Army reserve for over 20 years, where it was known as the BAP.
Browning Automatic Pistol. I found it to be an extremely accurate pistol.
It was replaced in service by the H&K USP.

Bought my Mark III back in 1987. Still have it. Love the pistol. Been with me during the Rodney King riots in 1992. Shot a number of local IPSC local matches in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Carried it while working in the gun store. A few years ago i took it into Terry Tussey Gunsmithing for a trigger job, new sights, and a few years later had it Cerakoted.

Argentina made Hi-powers under license from FN. They used tools brought in from Belgium. And were supervised by FN inspectors. They made a MKII version of th Hi-power for the Argentine military. And in the 80s and early 90s they made version of the Hi-power for the U.S civilian market.

Browning passed away too soon. Fortunately he had a student to Saive his work and finish it to perfection. 👍💪
Fast forward to 2022: Springfield sa 35. EAA Girson. FN with the "evolution" of the Hi Power

It was also copied by FEG in Hungary as model P9M in 40 cal. for issue to the East German Police untill the Berlin Wall came down. I have one, it's one of my favorite semi auto pistols. It never jams no matter what you put in it.

The sucky HP trigger can be greatly improved by simply removing the magazine disconnector.

Great video. I’m feeling above average, because I knew over half of those things. But, I still learned some great stuff. 👍
I have a Browning Hi Power, inherited from my father in law, who was a gunsmith and a historian for Browning in Morgan Utah.
It’s a beautiful pistol. Barely a scratch on it. Needs work though. The one range session I’ve had it out on, it had about a 50% failure rate.
I know its a great pistol, and I’m sure with a little work it will become reliable.

    Q) Because the Hi Power was originally produced for the French why wasn't a (or was a) .32 model ever designed as that was the preferred cartage of the French?
    Thankyou for your time!

I want an Inglis 😗. I already have 3 Hi Powers. Why not add a few more.

I had an Inglis version back in the late 80's. Believe it or not I only paid about $400 for it. Sear was worn but after fixing that she was a great shooter. It was made in Toronto but for the Chinese, matching numbers. The slot in the tangent sight was miniscule so when the sear was being fixed I had my gunsmith open up the slot and fabricate a better front blade. Unfortunately my house was robbed and my entire gun collection was gone.

John Moses Browning originally designed the Hi Power with a single stack magazine similar to the 1911 but upon discovering the shooting power of the 9mm that he had to deal with by his contracts decided to make it a double stack to make up for the number of shots needed to takedown an enemy soldier. (Maybe 😉😉)

The only thing I wish my Hi-Power could do is double action on first shot.

Factoid #11 you didn't know... the Canadian army still uses the Browning HP made during the 1940s! We will be in a multi-year competition process instead of getting anything off the shelf right now.
