    Heed Todd's warning about not trying to push the go/no-go tool on too deeply. You won't be able to get the tool off. I had to loosen the bolts again after tightening things down and still couldn't get it off after jiggling the transmission. Had to use a 3 jaw puller. Then I went at it again but just shy of how deep Todd gets it (sounds dirty, eh) in this video and feel confident my machine is aligned properly.

      Maybe i got lucky but i can slide the tool with some extra force about 1/8 of an inch past the place Todd gets it on the secondary and it pops right off with a few tugs. I did clean the shafts to a mirror finish using Wicked metal polish though before i started.

      @@gmctech Funny thing, a year later my Polaris crap Chinese bearing went out as many do so I installed the SupetATV GDP transmission and used my Hunterworks alignment tool and it worked even better on the brand new input shaft. I've lent my tool out to a friend but told him it's cheap enough that he should have his own in his tool arsenal. I'm probably going to have to move back to a regular HW belt as the thick belt creates too much heat for desert riding in the summer. More money... always more money to spend on this damn hobby.

    Is alignment the problem when you have to put the brake on and give it gas for it to go in gear if I don't do that if I just give it gas to go it will miss going in gear and just grind

    Ordered my tool today. I got 1200 miles out of my stock belt (that I now carry as a spare), then another 200 out of the new belt before busting the transmission. Put the new transmission in and got 20 miles before the belt shredded. Definitely out of alignment.

    How often should you check alignment? I'm big on maintenance, some would agree and disagree but I also greese wheel bearings every 300-400 miles with green greese. Is this about right for alignment check?

    • @Hunterworks
      @Hunterworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not unless there was an issue popping up but if you up for it, as often as you like but 300-400 miles seems often if you putting a lot of miles on it.

    A friend of mine recently had the turf mode delete done at the Polaris dealer. He's had a smashing and clunking clutch on take off since new. After turf mode delete was done it was no different so we bought the alignment tool and i was aghast with how far off it was having just been to the deaer. My question is, does the dealer not have access to a factory alignment tool, or does Polaris just bolt it together and hope for the best?

    • @Hunterworks
      @Hunterworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They probably just bolt together and do not know it should be aligned and polaris does not have an alignment tool, only a flat bar for spacing

    • @gmctech
      @gmctech 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Many thanks for the reply and info! As a side note the dealer severely over torqued the 6 bolts... Love your alignment tool, just the quality of the precision tool makes it a great deal! As always a pleasure doing business with you great folks.. Take care and i think my next purchase will be some gear butter 😎

      @@Hunterworks I am measuring with dial indicators for parallel on shafts, but the trans is still to far to the driver's side. Been this way since new, 10k miles with alont of troubles since new. No dealer help. I own a shop and build race cars for a living, now going to the aftermarket for help. I have bought 3 primary clutch tool removers on the internet and yours is the only one that worked. I bought an alignment tool from another internet place and it doesn't fit my shafts and they won't respond to me on eBay. @Hunterworks Inc. thank you, my belt is riding on the outside of the primary clutch which indicates to me that the trans is out to far from to the driver's side. I made a tool that goes on both shafts to check the shafts parallel. But in and out is the problem. Dealer aligned it and said that it's perfect, but will stall in gear when stopping. Not trying to contradict you. I've watched your videos, I'll watch again

    Question: do you ever have to “shim” a primary or secondary clutch to line them up side to side let’s say? I have a duraclutch and I cleaned it up nicely and the belt still spins when in neutral. I have another clutch setup with a tied secondary and weights and whatever that doesn’t cause problems when putting into gear because of belt spinning. Yet to check alignment on the 2021 900 trail Polaris. Neither clutch has much use. I like the duraclutch for winter time for plowing etc. only time I use it.

    does an 1/8th of an inch make a big difference? i did my alignment about 30 hours ago but now im barely off again, could that be why its hard to shift? because my one way bearing is fine and i cleaned my clutches and everything seems to be in spec.

    • @Hunterworks
      @Hunterworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a 1/8 is huge like have a belt 1/4" longer or shorter. But that is not causing this, either alignment, bad bearing or clutch not opening. We have a video on this too, one of the newer ones

    Why doesn't anybody seem to check offset on these machines? It's a critical factor!!!

    • @Hunterworks
      @Hunterworks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What is offset to you? If you mean alignment left and right, it can't be off like offset, just parallelism as I call it. The way they mount on the vehicles these tools are used on it can't be off like that, just twisted if you will. We have a video on this to explain it

    • @andrewbibeau231
      @andrewbibeau231 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Hunterworks you put the secondary clutch on the shaft and align the stationary sheaves which on the drive clutch is the inner and secondary it's the outer sheave. This done typically with an alignment bar on the snowmobiles which is typically also used to determine alignment. If the secondary clutch is too far inboard you add shims to a measurement of 5/8" on sleds or when the alignment bar is just touching the back of the secondary sheave P 90 is a different number but regardless clutch offset is a factor in alignment and no one seems to mention it in any of these videos.

    • @andrewbibeau231

      Can't is a strong word.

    • @Hunterworks
      @Hunterworks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@andrewbibeau231 That is because that is not applicable to these vehicles, can't is the correct word. You tell me how it can be offset, what would cause that ?

    • @Hunterworks
      @Hunterworks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@andrewbibeau231 Also, some of these UTV's use shims and you shim the secondary to have the belt in the middle of the primary or close to it. However the shafts themselves can't be moved left to right.
