This is great! I’m familiar with Francis, from the live chat, at Good Morning Portugal, on TH-cam. During the pandemic, and now, it’s been a great incubator for our plans to move to Portugal. I’m glad to see he and his family are doing well!
Hi Francis, good luck with the move. I did it to the States from Cape Town. There may be byers remorse at some point but hang in there, it will come right. Wish you and your family all the best.
@@ExpatsEverywhere Any ideas of costs of membership to these types of sports facilities? Might be an interesting episode. Racquet Clubs, Yachting/boating clubs, Golf/Country clubs, Equestrian facilities, Car Clubs/Track Days, etc.
I was born and bread in Maia, I had to leave to seek a better life in 2008 but I miss it every single day. We're in California now but we're planning to return to Portugal in 2 to 3 years.
Yes, we know. We're not sure what happened with Kalie's mic at all. Was it more hear sound quality than his or what it the overall sound? We're trying to identify what happened so it doesn't happen again. - Josh
Great interview, but you need to work on your audio quality. Sounds sometimes like you are recording on cheap mics in a bathroom. Maybe some post processing would help to brighten it up. Maybe that room has too much echo. Some inconspicuous acoustic foam might do the trick.
Working on it! We could definitely hear the difference in Kalie's mic capture/audio quality over Francis. The room is what it is. It's our house. Francis' mic was closer to his mouth, which helped but we're working on it. We weren't happy with the audio either. It's a Rode Lapel paired with a Rode Wireless Go II. - Josh
Well I wish you had to,d the truth that you left South Africa for the rampant crime that includes one of the highest crime rate in the world . Instead he was trying to picture something very different .
Actually, I've had personal conversations with Francis about this and while he's concerned for SA in that sense, it wasn't a lead motivating factor for him as opposed to it being that way for many other South Africans that we meet. - Josh
Maia has another major advantage for expats: Porto Airport (OPO) is actually in Maia. Good luck to your family, Francis!
True, true. Good shout out, Veronica! - Josh & Kalie

Great to see Francis, it's been some time since we last talked on GMP's chat. Glad you're enjoying your "return" to Portugal.

Nuno Borges is from Maia. Amazing win over Dimitrov earlier today.
Great tennis facilities there in Maia! 😊 - Josh & Kalie
