      @ because it shows that she has confidence in the popflex high quality and durability that can keep its own existing consumer base. From online videos ive seen its quite clear that the popflex items eg the taylor swift skirt are much higher quality. Rather than for people who genuinely cant afford popflex to buy an amazon / shien dupe, target line is catered towards those people. From your video im like you where the popflex is just slightly out of our price range so the target line is kind of like a tester if you will, so if i enjoyed the target products for a year or two of wear and tear, then i might save up and repurchase the popflex line for a good quality piece that i know will last me longer than a couple of years.

    I’m torn about this. I understand that not everyone can afford popflex, but the reasons why I justify purchasing popflex products is because it’s good quality, ethically made, customers’ suggestions are applied, I’m supporting small business, and workers are being paid fairly. Seeing this cheaper target line, I can’t help but wonder if my reasons for supporting popflex can be carried onto this line. I’ll have to go to target and see for myself.
    Edit: I checked out the Blogilates clothes at target. Obviously, the quality isn’t as good as my Popflex pieces that I collected over the years. I’m not getting any Blogilates pieces. I’d rather save up to get more Popflex clothes in the future when my current ones get old.

    The thing about recycled polyester is that it is a much lower grade material than new polyester- so it's hard to put into items and not have a quality dip. It degrades much faster than new polyester (think pilling, felting, flaking etc...) and that's part of the reason why it's often blended with new polyester. Likely that's related to her decisions regarding recycled polyester content on products, and blend percentages.
    (I didn't even know this collection had dropped, thank you for the review! I'll see if I can try some of them on at TGT because, like you, the online price is a little hard for me to justify without being able to try them on in person.)

    • @Jim-l6u9i
      @Jim-l6u9i 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      It also leaves much more microplastic in the wash! I often feel like recycled polyester is just an excuse for brands to use polyester without the customer having bad conscience. Recycled polyester is not the solution to plastic problems, finding alternatives to polyester is (though I know polyester does make sense for sportswear).

    So here are my honest thoughts on Popflex vs the new Blogilates clothing line. For reference, I have quite a few Popflex pieces. While they are pricier than a "casual buy" for me, I just wait until her annual Black Friday deals or if an item I like goes on one of her sporadic sales. I would say I like 90% of what I have bought, and they had great customer service when one of my packages was stolen (I live in the USA). Personally, I prefer higher quality over quantity, and while a higher price does not necessarily mean higher quality (looking at YOU Nike), something about getting leggings for $20 seems...off, and also usually isn't great quality. I'd rather spend $60 on leggings once, than $25 three times because the seam keeps ripping. Anyways, similarly even with sales, the cloud hoodie was the one item that has illuded me due to its price, and was the Blogilates item that got me to Target when the line dropped (well, let's be real, I would've gone regardless). I was pleased with the hoodie, but the black color was out when I visited otherwise I probably would have bought them (I'm trying to cut down on online ordering if I have a nearby store). Although I'm not SUPER tall, 5'8", I have extremely long legs so I was hesitant about the Blogilates leggings and the airport pants since I can't customize the inseam like with Popflex. I didn't like that they were thin, and while the inseam wasn't TOO short, the length wasn't the most flattering on me. The airport pants were a good length, but it also wasn't tailored to be AS flattering as I wanted (they didn't look better than my causal sweats at home). The skorts were...noticeably lower quality (and also not as short and flirty) as the Popflex design so those weren't for me either. That said, it's not a BAD Target line, but I think Popflex has me spoiled so (aside from the hoodie) I'll continue waiting for Popflex sales and discounts!
    **EDIT TO ADD: In my initial comment, I mentioned that I didn't find the Blogilates line to be "as good of quality/lower quality" but I want to clarify that I don't think it is bad quality. It is thinner quality and the material that it is made of is less expensive. Some people might even like the lighter/thinner quality! But I mentioned it because the mesh on the Blogilates skirt is not as light and bouncy as the Popflex skirt, and that is because the material and probably the cut/slightly different design of the Blogilates skirt.

      Is the regular pop flex line as short waisted as the target line? I've always wanted to get the dress in black. I went to see the dress at target but I didn't even try it on because the waist was so short it would look like a babydoll dress on me. I'm only 5'7" but I guess my waist is long since most bodysuits or one peices don't fit me properly.

      I'm e never had the seams fall apart or tear on leggings, whether Manduka, Old Navy, Target etc. And I have thick legs. I don't doubt the quality of your expensive pieces is great, but I've had soooo many Target pieces last ages on heavy rotation, clothing and shoes alike. I can see Shein falling apart, and Target selling some shoddy things (won't buy their gross decor anymore), but inexpensive clothing can be a fantastic value. I most recently purchased a Babaa sweater, but I won't pretend that many of the Target items I've worn haven't been great. Sometimes people justify their purchases by saying that inexpensive clothing is terrible, which just isn't true.

From clothing to cars to make up to perfumes like anything you can think of there’s a high-end brand that has some sort of low end product sometimes you don’t even know that one company owns the other. I understand why it can be conflicting but as many others have mentioned I think this is a super smart business move. Many other brands do the same thing where they have "tiers" to their products so the items can be similar in style/category but the level of quality, price point, and target audience can change. I think having it in a store like target also opens her up to people who can easily be caught shopping in stores. It can also introduce people to products they like and knowing it is a sister brand to a higher quality popflex may influence people to save up and purchase additional items from there.

I like her designs and working with target probably brings her designs to a wider audience and at a more commonly affordable price point. I have the ballerina dress from her target collection, and I love it so far! It’s the perfect price point for sweating and getting on the floor to workout in. It sounds like one other commenter stated she created dupes of her own products. I agree about the marketing part but its the para-social relationship she has with her audience to where the audience will think they have a say in whatever is being produced but in reality it was happening anyway with or without their approval LOL.

    It looks like most of these clothes are designed for hourglass or pear body types in mind. If you don't have a defined waist, these just don't work. Cropped tops just do not work for my apple body type.

    I have a few real Popflex pieces. The leggings, although extremely soft, attract ANY lint like no tomorrow. However, the fit is amazing and they are some of my comfiest pants. I don’t have to adjust them while working out like every other legging I have worn. The hoodies and sweatpants are also wonderful, they’re basically my favorite lounge clothes for fall and winter in Michigan.
    Also re: the ballerina skort, I see what you mean. For your body type I think a bit more volume in the skirt higher on the hips would look a lot more flattering. You don’t look bad by any means, but a more structured skirt would be more pretty on you.

    I own three pieces from popflex, a corset sports bra, a pirouette skort, and a hiking super skort. I absolutely love how all of them feel and they are such flattering designs. I haven't purchased too much because of the price and because I have plenty of other workout clothes to wear out first. I am definitely picking up some pieces from Target to try.

  • @alsgml
    @alsgml 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +16

    Thanks for your in depth review! I feel like the target skorts aren’t as flattering bc there’s no straight waistband option. The standard pirouette skirt has a straight and high waisted waistband that snatches you in! So I don’t necessarily feel like it’s you, but the design of the skort itself.

    I lovepopflex and have so many pieces it didn’t make sense to get any pieces from target since I have all the originals. I think she made the target skirts longer so they’re not as “cute” fitting. The popflex pieces have more seams and strings, and are thinker so they fit better.
    I think you’ve also let your confidence get in the way a little, I thought the black twirl skort looked great on you!

    I’ve been resisting the Popflex pull for years, just because it’s pricier than I’d like. However, she got me with this collection. I also ordered about $250 worth of stuff (still waiting to receive my order in the mail). Then I went to the main site and blew another $300 🙄 😂 I will receive both orders around the same time, so I’m very curious to compare everything. I’m pretty sure I can return the Target items easily but with Popflex, you have to purchase a $2 return label when you place your order (which is annoying, because what if I don’t plan on returning anything?).

    Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'm not... super impressed with Popflex? To be clear, have never bought or worn either Popflex OR the Target brand, but I'm looking on her website and finding article after article that's majority polyester. Recycled or not, I don't want to pay top dollar -- $60, $70, $80, $90!! -- for a garment made of mostly plastic. I'm sure the craftsmanship is of higher quality than other brands, but if I want environmentally terrible, only-comfy-for-the-first-wear plastic clothing, I can get very similar for a lot cheaper on Cider, Shein, even AT Target. If they're going to charge so much for something, it could at least be made of higher-quality natural fibers; even the highest quality possible of polyester will only ever be plastic trash, and I can't support that.

    This is not "genius" or "smart", it's a bait and switch. Cassie has been fooling people for years with her "commitment" to her customers. I'm a marketing major, she chooses to charge WAY more for her products. The markup, despite "higher quality" is ridiculous. Additionally, she DOESN'T listen to her customers. People have been saying they want LONGER more flattering designs which she ignores. She even puts out super bias polls where she looks sad and slouchy in the longer options. Search her controversies. It's all about money and this is just another bait and switch. She also isn't size friendly at all. It tooks YEARS for larger sizes and the cuts are terrible. She designs for HER type body only.

    After months of debate and not being able to justify spending $70 on a hoodie I actually pulled the trigger and bought 2 of the cloud zip hoodies when they were on sale. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and they’re definitely worth the price if you’re in the market for some higher end pieces. I did buy one of the off shoulder sweatshirts from the target collection to kind of compare and the difference is definitely noticeable, mostly in the thickness of the fabric. I think the price point for both are pretty well in line with the design and quality of the pieces and I would definitely buy from them both again.

    I think the only piece I definitely _liked_ when browsing the Target collection, and would _consider_ getting, is the green crop top.

    I have a ton of popflex stuff you are right. Quality of fabric isn't the same. But on The skorts totally worth it to me, doesn't look or feel less nice. But there is a difference. Sadly sold out mostly in my size (got 2 not color unwanted). I liked that the compression was less it actually fit my plus size bigger tummy much easier (I could probably go down a size from my popflex size)probably not athletic but for walking around. The princess dress was so cute btw bc of lack of compression quality of popflex, there is no way I can not wear a bra with my larger chest, and I've tried so many bras under none look right of the cut, I'd love to keep the ones I bought but most likely can't bc of this. The marshmallow hoodie the highest change in quality to cloud hoodie which looks fits great and is soft. The hoodie from target was like 3-6 inches shorter and bc of this looks so much frumpier on my rounder body. The elastic in the hoodie felt cheap like tiny not attached to the hoodie just swen into a channel on the hoodie.

    As an artist this discussion has been made many many times. The Mona Lisa, Girl With the Pearl Earring, The Starry Night..all of these original paintings have prints you can buy. But the original paintings are still priceless. Millions of people travel thousands of miles just to see the original paintings. Just to stand next to these paintings. Just because there are more affordable ways for people to own something from their favorite artist (in this case blogilates) does not depreciate the value of the original.

    Everyone has a different opinion of what’s “affordable” so i won’t argue over whether the POPFLEX brand is or not; BUT its not fair to say that POPFLEX is about the same price as Lululemon. Lulu is WAY more expensive. Lululemon a scuba oversized hoodie is $128. POPFLEX cloud hoodie is $70. That makes Lululemon EIGHTY PERCENT more expensive. The two brands are not even close on the spectrum.

    I'm a bit upset because I got 3 tops for my birthday, an xs criss corss bra, a s ruffle tank, and a s bow long sleeve. All three didn't fit me. And I'm not even that small, typically my tops in lulu are 2-4 B/C ish, shirts s and if I want a tight fit then xs. The xs bra was MASSIVE on me and because of how huge it was didn't cover anything. The ruffle tank was big and boxy (I later went to the store and the XS was also big and bulky) and the long sleeve only "fit" when the bow was tied and tight as possible and even then the fabric cut off arm circulaton while the torso was too baggy. Needles to say I returned 3/4 blogikates items I received. When I went back to target to look for exchanges I tried on more things. The dress fit but was extremely low cut and the lining kept flipping around, the cut off sweater was way too big in an XS (I know they're supposed to be oversized but it fit like a 2x) and I tried another bra in an XS which fit better but was wildly unflattering. I did find the bow t shirt short sleeve and fell in love (it actually fit!) also I totally agree with the nip cover thing, they were 100% peeking out. Overall I'd give the target collection a 1.7/5. I had really high hopes because I've followed for a while, sad to say I feel quite let down.

    I think whether it’s ethically made or not isn’t super relevant (not that we shouldn’t care), when irl people will buy regardless especially when it comes to bigger brands like lululemon, aritizia, zara and etc. We don’t see people complaining about whether their clothing is ethically made, most people buy because of the name not because it’s ethically made.
    So while it’s important to consider whether clothing lines are ethically made, we really should be questioning why we only care when it comes to smaller clothing lines but not big brand names (esp when they’re not always quality pieces, more expensive price point, lacks innovative designs and etc).
    I did get some pieces at target from her line, and tbh I love the Marshmallow hoodie and the tops. The only thing I was concerned with, was the skirt since the mesh outer layer is a free flowing edge and not sewn in (if that’s how it’s worded, I’m not a seamstress just a customer)
    Keep in mind, it’s a lower price point. But it’s much better and more innovative than typical clothing purchased at this price point imo & if you want something similar to Popflex but more affordable

    Buy the flared Popflex leggings! They’re cheaper than Lululemon, and thicker too. So soft and feel like they could last a lifetime. I couldn’t buy any of her Target pants: leggings or travel pants, bc the inseam is not short enough. The extra price of Popflex is worth getting the perfect fit and the high quality material.
