Thank you for the bedroom tour.....what a great layout you have with such good sized bedrooms and potential ensuites. It is truly a lovely chateau with so much potential!! Love your bedroom as you have chosen a great colour and have put it together so comfortably.....love it! Having the tower as a shower would be amazing and love the future ensuite set up. Awesome!! Your videos just put a smile on my face every time and always give me a bit of a chuckle. Thank you!! 💗🇨🇦
Excellent ideas and rooms, as always. Much work and planning are needed, as always. It's such a "plus" to have a husband with an infectious laugh. 😂 As others said before me, I strongly suggest that an inexpensive way to keep the heat in and the cold out is to get a couple of "caulking guns" and a boatload of caulking and go at it properly on ALL the windows. Get weatherstripping and door "sweeps" for every single door, etc. It's not nearly as expensive as you'd think. Also, if a handyman can put a flue in the fireplaces to close when not burning a fire, you'd keep a considerable amount of cold air out. Lovely chapel...you know how I feel about those. 😇❤🙏 Prioritizing and working one day at a time is also important to mental, financial, and physical health. I have some things to show you that will help with the early portrait painting, but I will send them via email. ❤🥰👋 From Iowa to you both. - D.
Very enjoyable bedroom ballet ;-) Do watch Claire, Lionel...she was having definite "Renfield" tendencies with the wallpaper...it all starts somewhere you know ;-)
I am a recent subscriber. I enjoy your banter. You obviously have great fun together. Your chateau is lovely. Perhaps that seated area above the chapel was for a handicapped person. We have a lovely historic house called Filoli near us, the owner William Bowers Bourn was handicapped and spent his last decade upstairs with specially built glassed in terraces over the garden and on the stair landing. I’ll be watching your progress with anticipation. Happy New Year from California 🇺🇸
How interesting, that is a possibility but we have been told by a local historian that it actually was so the lady of the house can avoid mixing with the hoi polloi! Different times 😊❤️ We are thinking about you all in California, 'Courage' as they say here 😘
Such a wonderful and beautifully crafted staircase!, it was great being able to visit your most striking Chateau, it is also great that you have a British broadcaster using your Chateau, will have to wait and see? Would be great to see a King Charles and Queen Camilla frequent you Chateau and wonder amongst your treasures, can we expect to see another beautiful choreographed Ladder Ballet, remember Lionel don’t forget that Black lace item you found in the attic. Your progress is going well and over time we know that you will both have the Chateau looking quite spiffo! may even challenge the Palace of Versailles😍 Thank you once again for allowing us all to part of this wonderful journey. 🙏😇🏰God Bless you all. PS- With you future plans for renovations do you have any restrictions on what you and can’t do? Is France like Italy where the Mayor is key government representative for the area and has a lot to say regarding what you can and can’t do?
PS: That is a Nice Kwefe tribal dance mask in the "Blue Room" on top of the furniture piece next to the door. I used to have 2-3 of those with "plug" mouths and almost always white kaolin clay on the head, where they were usually decorated with that clay. Nice find. 👌
Thank you Dennis, it was another early morning purchase in Durban SA before a hard day's work snapping Prince Charles and Princess Diana, a long time ago 😊
Thanks for the tour! I think your wide floorboards are actually the “sub-floor.” The finish isn’t as smooth and flat as you’d expect in a finished floor. I think that narrower boards were on top. But you mentioned the water damage - that top layer might have been damaged. For sink, toilet placement, you’ll want to keep plumbing in mind. Not running taps on exterior walls (unless they’re sufficiently insulated), not overly-complicating the drainage lines. Efficient plumbing cuts costs.
We have found a brilliant plumber, I am hoping all the waste pipes can run out the back of the chateau, I am guessing that will involve lots of head scratching 😊❤️
Thanks for a look at your second Floor , Wallpapering would be best for bedrooms but in my old Vila i have painted and wallpapered so like one or 2 walls i wallpapered and they other wall i painted trim is a different colour . Loved that Blue wallpaper i am sure u find something very similar , it almost looks like what Chateau Diaries has in one of there rooms to . Pleased that u have a great plan on what u want layout is easy . Little fur Child loves yr bed . 🥰🙂
Je pense que la petite chambre devait être, soit un salon entre la chambre de Monsieur et celle de Madame, ou la chambre pour la femme de chambre de Madame😊
Lots of ideas to ponder. Having the smaller rooms as bathrooms would be great, but... you will need to consider the water flow in and out of those rooms. You would not want to have the waste pipe and water pipes seen in the rooms. It is another thing to keep in mind, but as you say, time and of course money have to be considered. Personally I would work on what will be your personal suite before tackling other bathrooms. Then of course you would want the kitchen a priority to get rid of the Ikea one. Lots to think about and contemplate over. Hopefully you will not be like us and 11 years down the road having not completed one room. I guess that is not quite true. We had a burst water main in the basement and the TV / Office room had to be ripped out and rebuilt, bigger than it originally was. Those rooms are complete but we took out the bathroom down there which will be part laundry room, one day, may be. We have both since retired and may be nothing will be finished.
I enjoy watching you two, the banter is priceless!
The chapel is beautiful!❤
It is, thank you ❤️😊

Sensible and workable advice as ever, thank you! I have recently discovered ' Chimney Sheep'! Look it up, I think they are the answer 😊

A chateau definitely calls for wallpaper.
Slowly coming around to that idea 😊❤️

sorry to say, but the tv ruins a LOT of interesting channels, because of the "do not show" I hate it
