Dude, this is seriously an awesome video. I looked at like four. I wish you would make ones for replacing brakes, tightening chains and other important servicing. Thank you soo much for this though. Love all the angles and the speed and clarity with which you deliver the information.
Just wanted to say, Thank you for this video! I change my oil on my 250 today because of this great video! First work I did myself! I feel confident to do more work on it.
Rotella T6 5w-40 (the blue bottle) is a more suitable choice for motorcycles with wet clutches as it has no friction modifiers and is also JASO MA compliant. Good thing that you know the correct oil drain bolt, lots of recent TH-cam videos have people removing the incorrect bolt.
Use a bigger longer wrench so you can put more torque on it. Then hammer softly at first then slowy do it harder to break it loose. Make sure you are using the right size socket that is snug with almost no looseness. If it's at all loose it will start to strip it more.
So you mention a second oil plug at 1:42 from an older model (that most people mess up). You say that if you take this off you need to go to "the shop". I have just taken this out by mistake, does this mean I have to go to the shop? If so, why?
Thanks man great video. I've had my ninja for 4 months now, but its a 2010 model that was garaged for 8 months. I didn't do anything to it when I bought it and now it has run out of oil. I decided to just top it up because I'm pretty sure it was really empty. Service costs too much so I can't get it done now but I'll get it done at 5-6 k. I have 4300 on it now, but it had 2500 when I bought it. Does anyone have any recommendation to what I should do. Is it worth it to clean he filter and stuff and loose a litre of oil or should I just wait until next service? Thanks guys
Noticing that when i shift down into neutral and then shift up to first to drive it doesn't quite engage. I get this 'stuck' feeling from the bike, its really weird and Im not sure if its the oil or something else doing it.
i have reused mine for a while brah. its always good to replace them every now and then, but if yours is in top shape and its not leaking then it should be allright.
1) No that's a little over half of what you need 2) Is the bike upright.. you wont see the oil at all if it's on the kickstand.. 3) 1.8qt = 1703.4mL 4) google
My oil filter bolt seems to be put on with grade AAAA industrial glue, because I've gone at it at every single possible angle, but it won't budge. I even took a hammer to the wrench, and nothing. Eventually stopped when I realized I was stripping the bolt by just trying to take it off. Any suggestions?
Thanks bro. Just bought my 250 last week and want to do everything myself so your video taught me how to change my oil. Just finished and all was successful. Hit my up on twitter @RobWVUNews

Really good video overall, you got all the parts in the right order in regards to the oil filter assembly in addition to both o-rings.

what a nice video and easy oil change. Love your rotella. I buy T4 by the 5gal pail!
Very good video, detailed steps are great. More DIY videos would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for video. Tomorrow will change oil in my 2012 Kawa Ninja.
It is possible but I believe the oil does drain more completely when elevated on a bike stand.
The incorrect bolt is the one that is facing directly towards the ground and is in close proximity to the correct drain bolt, which points sideways.
Awesome video, Thanks bro.! Keeping up great video. Thump up & subscribed.
Appreciate the help. Just finished my red 250.

Thanks for posting this. I was so excited I did it all myself. Can I use synthetic if I'm suppose to use regular? Will it hurt the engine?
Thanks man great video.

Not true about the 2nd plug, kaws where made with two drain plugs. Look it up, drain both when doing an oil change
really?
The second plug I have believe oil leaking from there. So can I drain it myself and not take it to a shop?
Can you do the oil change with it just on it's kickstand?
Hey I have a 2012 Ninja 250.... is changing the oil the same as the 2010? thanks
can someone please tell me where he bought the plug washers??? please reply

i have a 1999 kawi ninja 250r, is the oil socket still in the same location as your 2010?
Where did you get your rear wheel stand? Don't know which 1 to buy and if I need anything else to make it lift.
What kind of stand do you guys use? I don't know which one to purchase...links would be great..
pitbull stands are great
Could I use 5w-40 T6 or does it have to be 15? 2011 250 with 6k on it

I'm confused because the manual says to use 10w40 is there a difference or harm in using a different grade?
@@MightyMeehow did you use T6 ? I’m about to use T6 on my Ninja today? Idk about the results
I cant get my filter off.. Bloody rounded the bolt trying!! Any tips guys?!
not sure if you fixed it by now brah. but i would suggest those 10 bucks gator sockets for rounded up bolts.
are the drain plug washers necessary? the used one cannot be re-used?
