Pink Floyd are deeper than the Mariana trench, smoother than a quantum stabilized atom mirror, cooler than an iceberg in a river of liquid nitrogen and more zen than 1,000 Buddhist monasteries. Glad you enjoyed this lads Floyd has hundreds of awesome songs, follow the rabbit hole!

Lost my dad to a heart attack two years ago. He died right in my arms. Every time we heard this song in the car I would always ask him to tell me about the story of him seeing Pink Floyd in concert for the first time. It was a story that never got old for me and apparently not for him either. He always had a genuine smile on his face while he spoke and you could see the joy in his eyes of happier, simpler times. As always, love you guys and keep rocking on. You will always have fans in this house. Thank you ❤❤❤

The song is about the frontman of the band who was so lost and disconnected from reality because of the drugs he was using. This song means a lot to anybody who grew up in this time. Especially the writer of the song who lost his friend to something he had no idea how to help. One of if not there best songs.

Okay, dudes, so that you understand: Pink Floyd music was not and is not meant for mainstream radio airplay. They found incredible success in “non-commercial” music. Taste in their music isn’t for everyone, but they have proved time and time again that their non-radio music is a huge success. Yes, it just may not be to your taste. That’s ok.

  • @Frostrazor

from a pure artistic standpoint, Pink Floyd is the greatest rock and roll band of all time. Because you don't just listen to Pink Floyd; you experience it! It's something you can feel in your whole body.
And not all their music is slow. But most is admittedly played at a more leisure pace than prototypical rock bands - because their music is about vibing and reflection; it's music for the soul. that you just close your eyes and lose yourself in it.

I HIGHLY recommend listening to the entire Dark Side of the Moon album, from track 1 to the end. Even if you break it up over time. The whole album is only around 45 minutes too, so not that much time to spend for something SO worth it. I am positive you guys will dig it. This was my dad’s favorite band. He passed away in 2016. When I was 18 a friend of mine was indicted, and my dad said I could bring him up to his place in Southwestern New York to hide out in the country. When we got there from Richmond Virginia, he had one of his old friends there visiting as well. His name was Frank and he’d received a retroactive settlement after suing the state for a whole host of human rights violations from when he was locked up during the riots in Attica. My dad ended up turning his life around and thank God he was baptized prior to his passing. I’m now a certified education and employment counselor. Part of the population I assist are those reintegrating into society after incarceration. I will never forget my dad and Frank getting absolutely baked while this album played on a loop. R.I.P Dad, I wish you were here.

Lyrically one of the best bands of all time. My favorite Pink Floyd lyric is "you have to be trusted, by the people that you lie too, so that when they turn their back on you, you'll get the chance to put the knife in"

    • @thejtotheb5419
      @thejtotheb5419 ปีที่แล้ว +2

it should probably be noted, especially for anyone that's not familiar with them, that they're talking about politicians (well, i guess it could just as easily apply to a shady used car salesman or any number of other types of scumbags). as powerful a line now as it is ever was, if not more.

@@janetking2035 the song is 'Dogs' from the Pink Floyd album 'Animals' (1977). "...the album's lyrics describe various classes in society as different kinds of animals: the predatory dogs, the despotic ruthless pigs, and the "mindless and unquestioning” herd of sheep."

Now you goin in deep! Pink Floyd is an experience and you really have to do complete albums because each song on their albums tell a page of the story and when you do like you’re doing now and you’re skipping to three quarters through the book. If you listen closely during the guitar solo you can hear the angelic voice of one David Gilmour singing it with his guitar.

This band hits different. You reacted to comfortably numb a few months ago, which was a great reaction. If you're going to check out more Floyd, I would recommend taking them in albums. Not necessarily in one video, but start with the first song of an album and then do the second whenever, then the third, etc. You'll get a lot more from it. These guys wrote some pretty deep lyrics. The album this song is off of, this being the title track, is no exception. It's about an original band mate, "Syd Barrett," who literally went insane and was committed.

Good to see you reacting to this older music, these older rock bands had a lot of things going on at the time that influenced their songs. Think of the '60s, there was a lot going on politically and musically. Rock music was coming up and even giving birth to sub-genres - blues-rock, rock'n'roll, punk rock, etc.
    Couple of react suggestions:
    - Krayzie Bone - Clash of the Titans, which is a reaction to Eminem's Rap God. You can read up on Bone's influence in music.
    - Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms (On the Night Live). These guys are from northern England and Mark Knopfler's guitar rifts are out of this world. This song was written during 1982 when Britain was involved in the Falklands war.

It was so sad because Syd Barret was a complete genius but he suffered with schizophrenia and was institutionalized his whole life after he had a full breakdown, Drugs and the epic success of the band just put him over the edge. Many of the songs are nods to his genius and he was loved and missed by the other members to this day. One of my favorite all time bands. Like you said, you can just put them on and get lost in your feelings and thoughts for sure! xx.

Did you guys do the live version of Comfortably Numb? If not, then you definitely should. Especially with how much you guys loved Eric Clapton and his guitar playing. David Gilmour's solo on Comfortably Numb from The Pulse tour was amazing. He's a God on the guitar, just like Clapton. Those types of players are on a whole other level. Basically, there's life before you've seen that performance, and then there's life after watching that.
