It’s about self reflection. The poetic lyrics were written by none other than RM!! 💜

This is the natural progression into becoming ARMY. Most of us just don't do it publicly. We do it quietly, alone, obsessively binge watching everything until you find yourself so deep in the rabbit hole, you don't know how you got there.

Remember, there are explanation videos for almost every BTS song or video out there. It's just easier for you to look it up. Because we can give you a couple lines of explanation. But a lot of these songs are deep and need at least a whole paragraph of explanation. V's unique choreography is just that. It is very creative to dance fast when the music is going slowly. I love how cool it looks. It illustrates the message of the lyrics. Confusion in loving yourself which again the opening coat rack choreography expresses the same thing. Or the incongruity of dancing fast to slow music. Or living a life not true to yourself by wearing masks. Bottom line...BTS is not a KPop group with bops and kpoppy light music. They discuss real life and real life challenges. And you are quite Right! Lyrically and through the movement..it is like stunningly exquisite poetry. Who knew you would be studying poetry from Korean young men, Also. All of the BTS's solo albums and songs are so good. They are super talented as a group. And each individually! They are so talented that they each could have their own solo careers. However, they are dedicated to BTS and each other and will start Chapter 2 all together when they return from the military. Any new babies at your house?

Watch from the start. Look again. It is V's arm in the sleeve of that other clothing. He is caressing himself. Actually, it's an old vaudeville act where men dancers would "dance" with themselves.

V is the special one... the particular one, the old soul of the group, the jazzy one. His vampire energy contrasting his innocent playfulness and unpredictability makes him the alien of the group. He's the kind of guy that the more you look at him the more you fall into his trap. He is my bias, and right now he's serving in the special forces of his country.

He's the one who told the story of purple 💜 & created the term
      " Borahae " , which is ARMY'S equivalent to
" Aloha ", a greeting , that is more than just that, for it comes with a concept . Aloha is actually a concept as well it means, hello, goodbye, hospitality, a way of life & sense of community & more. Wow. That really almost describes "Borahae" & ARMY , doesn't it now?

The way I interpret this song is being stuck in a fake persona and being unable to be your true self because people around you (friends/family/fans/ or even yourself) expect a certain version of you. While they are comfortable with and expect that version of you, it is no longer who you are (if it ever was the real you, in the first place), and you struggle with whether you should break free and the fear of whether you could be accepted for who you truly are.

  • @caitlink6846
    @caitlink6846 หลายเดือนก่อน +30

The audio vibe of this song initially is very different from the lyrical meaning and message for sure. Generally the lyrics are actually quite sad. This song is basically about someone wearing a mask and hiding their true self from someone they love. Eventually wearing that mask becomes difficult and painful because it's not really them and it starts to crack, but they try desperately to keep it in place and hide their true self and in the process start to lose their real self, causing more pain. They realize in the song that in creating this mask, they've created a toxic situation in the relationship where they and their mask can't exist together and that they shouldn't have thrown themselves away for someone else's love.
“Tell me if my voice isn’t real
If I shouldn’t have thrown myself away
Tell me if even this pain isn’t real
What I was supposed to do back then"

Lot of good comments here....nothing BTS does is simple. I watch videos 3 times - once to listen, twice to watch, third time to read the subtitles. This is from the love yourself series it's message across all the songs is something to look into. Sacrificing yourself for love to the point you lose yourself is a dark journey...which I think this song touches on.

This genre of music of R&B and Jazz is V's speciality. He loves it and sings it well. For his solo album called "Layover" he sings only this style of music. He was nominated for an iheartmusic award and won Best New Debut Album. He made MV's for all 5 of his songs. And they tell a story. So please watch them in order. Just so you know...just as many people are in Love with V as they are in Love with Jimin. Ironically, they are Best Friends as they went to high school together. V also performed some of his songs with a Live Band on an iheartmusic radio production. It's quite good if you want to check that out, too. Enjoy more "baby making" music. 😮

BTS do have some songs about love and girls but not that many. Most tracks are about their lives, social commentary, literature etc. Or if they do talk about feelings and love, they keep the tracks neutral so you can apply it to any situation you are in. Love between you and a boyfrind, girlfriend, family, friends and often BTS and ARMY.
You need to get the typical music of 'western boybands' out of your head as BTS is deeper than that. 💜

I added a description of several that I have read.
The song 'Intro: Singularity' by BTS, performed by member V, is an introspective and melancholic piece. The song's lyrics reflect themes of self-knowledge, loss and reflection on one's own identity. The use of metaphors such as a frozen lake and the sound of something breaking suggests an internal rupture or an awakening to a painful reality.
The theme begins with the sound of something breaking, which awakens the narrator from a dream, possibly symbolizing a moment of personal realization or crisis. The repetition of a sore throat and lack of voice can be interpreted as the inability to express repressed emotions or thoughts. The reference to a frozen lake where the narrator has abandoned his reflection suggests a disconnection from his true self, a kind of sacrifice of his identity for something or someone else.
As the song progresses, existential questions are asked about whether or not the pain he feels is real, and whether the voice he has lost was authentic. The arrival of spring and the melting of the lake symbolize inevitable change and the hope of rebirth. However, there is a sense of uncertainty and fear in facing the truth once it is revealed. 'Intro: Singularity' is a poetic exploration of internal struggle and the search for authenticity in a world that often demands conformity.

I agree with you. It is a very seductive song and I believe it was meant to be that way. It is a "love and loss "song. "The song speaks of the struggle to reconcile one's inner thoughts and emotions with the outside world, and the difficulties of trying to find one's place in the world."- found this online. It is poetry for sure. RM is a poet. I think he is lost in this frozen lake and going so deep that he is losing himself (he changed himself when he fell in love- I am not sure who/what he fell in love with- it's not necessarily another person, maybe another side of him) but in the end he says spring will come again. The story continues in the album which the overall message is to love yourself, don't change.
Edit: Forgot to say, thank you for your reaction. Enjoy NY!

Not a romantic song. They usually are not. It's a melancholy song about self reflection and self love.
You really need to throw away a lot of the preconceptions that are confusing you when it comes to their music. There really is no one else like them. You can't put them in a category, or a box, and any analogies or comparisons made to other genres or artists ends up falling flat. They fuse unlikely genres in music and in dance. They have insane diversity. Their charisma and talent level is off the charts, both as a group and for every individual member. Every member is a super star in their own right and has chart topping hits and albums as soloists. They are truly self made. Their messaging is deeply layered and is usually telling 2-4 different stories at once - a surface layer, a personal layer, a thematic layer to the album/series, and sometimes a BU layer. They are purely dedicated to their art, one another and to ARMY in a way rarely seen. There has never been anyone like them.

LOL! Great Reaction! My mom always says he is the South Korean Maxwell, where TaeTae takes a sad song and makes it slow and sexy. I think you would definitely love Brilliant Singularity Live Stage Mix. If I remember correctly Bookish Theories explains the meaning of Singularity in depth. If you like this you will definitely like Stigma, but you have to watch the Live version because If I remember correctly it doesn't have a MV.

It's very important when listening to the songs to understand that the English translation is never exact and often misses the mark because the intent of the lyric doesn't have a literal translation in English. This is a poem. It's about self-reflection and introspection. Not wanting to lose oneself or hide your true self.

Hi Nesto. I see this as a poetic, lyrical tone piece, blending fleeting imagery, gorgeous colors, unusual scenic elements, with offbeat dance movement. It´s got a sophisticated jazz-like under pulse that is both subtle and mysterious. I like the combo of the dance with the mannequin that is actually himself. I also like the dancers who appear to be mature Black and Latino men. For me this piece makes me think of the old Greek legend of Narcissus, who fell in love with his own image. The live version of this song is more overtly sexy in the performance of it, but BTS always goes for the deeper truth below even a couple in love. You could watch Stigma live, Pied Piper live, Coming of Age Ceremony with JK and Jimin, Filter live.

you will rarely find any making love music in kpop, and BTS music is 90% clean. the closest song i know to what you expected to hear is from the kpop co-ed group KARD, song title is Cake, the choreo for tht song is also spicy 😋.

This made me think of when my friend said 'House of Cards' sounds like baby making music (which is fair, the song sounds really sensual) when the lyrics talk about toxic relationships and being trapped in a cycle of hurt.

BTS messages are about loving yourself and accepting yourself for who you are. Watch blue and grey and fake love, blood sweat and tears.

He's questioning himself about being in a relationship. It's about interrogating what we're doing and why. Our deeper sense of self and living. It's a poem written by a poet RM and interpreted by V the romantic. The song and performance is critically acclaimed as one of the best solo work n BTS. Unfortunately you were coming from a "baby making zone" A main draw of BTS for me away from the commercial music is because they merge philosophy and music. This is partly from. RM. V offers a depth of meaning in the songs he has written and the way he can use his vocals to engage with thoughts and emotions behind the song and it's meaning. Sorry that you failed to appreciate anything. But each person comes to music for different reasons. For you maybe it's baby making music because you're always approaching the music with this in mind. A suggestion that you leave your biases behind and come to the music with an open mind and read the lyrics and listen to music. They tell a lot. Then maybe you can truly appreciate BTS.

In my opinion you should listen to 1: Jungkook Euphoria 2: Jimin Serendipity 3: V Singularity 4: Jin Epiphany
They follow the process of failing into love and out of love then learning to love yourself! It is one of my favorite combos to listen to.

You'll learn that bts's music does not match what they're lyrics in some of their songs. To me that's not a bad thing. You can take their music and use it however you see fit in you life. Because you're right this song does not sound like a self-reflective song. I love Blue by V from his layover album which is really really good. He released it last year before he went into the army. It's a do not skip. Thank you for your reactions as always! 😊
